- Hello everyone, in this video we'll be taking a look at the Bachmann Dash 9 that was formerly made by Aristo-Craft years ago. This video is a general unboxing and impression video on the model. We'll take it out, go over the features and see how it runs. I usually stick to my layout videos and the live streams but I thought with the release of this engine it was worth going over it for everyone. I'll have a follow up video out later this week going over installing revolution radio control and a few of the auditees I encountered with it.

Thank you for the extensive information about the new Dash 9 locomotive from Bachmann. Above all, the locomotive already has a DCC interface and an adapter board. Thanks for the video. Many greetings from Germany
You're welcome and thanks for all the comments you leave!
It’s nice that it comes DCC sound ready.
Thanks Andrew. I bought one; you convinced me I need two.
And in turn I can blame my friend Cody lol
Glad you did a review. I had two of the Santa Fe on order for two years. Still boxed up but glad to know how to take them out of the box without damaging them. Next thing is trying to figure out what sound system to go with- thanks
Glad you found it helpful! There's definitely several options out there for sound.
I'm so excited for mine to get here, I'm ordering the same unit, one of the 2 ns road numbers available,
It's gonna be a really fancy upgrade from my usa trains gp38, I worked a lot on my gp38 weathering it and adding detail parts, I'm definitely gonna do a light weathering job on this unit, rather light.
Nice locomotive!
For sure, I'm looking forward to getting some more run time in.
Man that looks slick!! Definitely Bachmann upping their game a bit here. However I recall reading some time ago an interview of sorts with a Bachmann employee where they were seemingly adamant that they would not do modern diesels in large scale, anyone know what changed, seemingly out of the blue?
Nice locomotive.
It definitely is and doesn't look or feel like a cheap toy.
Looks good other than no rear ditch lights
Hopefully they will do the SD45 next an have Wisconsin Central as 1 of the Road Names
Bachmann has already announced the gp40 is next
Would be nice.
Congrats on your new locomotives Andrew. Maybe one day I’ll buy Union Pacific
Thanks! Definitely get yourself that UP!
Thanks for the video. I look forward to the install video. Will you cover how you convert to Kadee couplers?
I hadn't thought about it but I can do that.
I had to buy the Bnsf set.
Exactly, just like I "had" to buy mine. My wife isn't "buying" it lol
@@MrPictovid mine either 😂. It’s an investment.
Investment in enjoyment for sure
I think I know that guy
Small world right? 😆
. Retread of old technology we saw 20 years ago. The original Aristo SD 45 with a new body Sorry Bachman you blew it . Thanks Andrew I will avoid this monster . I hope Revolution will come up with a fix otherwise some folks will be soldering forever like the old days.
This isn't the sd45 with a new body, aristo made the dash 9 as well. This was preproduced using the aristo dash 9 tooling. Revolution is supposedly working on an adapter to allow their boards to work all the functions. I don't see this as a fail on Bachmanns part. They updated the socket to the standards it should have been following years ago. Had they made the socket work like aristos did the Revolution would have worked but would have caused issues for the other boards that use the socket and utilize all the pins. In general I think it's a great engine so far. Hopefully I'll have my Revolution install video up soon.
I do t understand how it is acceptable to build a model like this NS dash 9 and don’t even have the correct position headlights on the front! NS GE dash 9 are mounted on top of the cab
I imagine it has to do with the fact that's the way the tooling was setup back when aristo originally made these. Aristo probably wasn't interested in changing the headlight location for one road and I imagine Bachmann wasn't going to invest in modifying the existing tooling or making new tooling. Not a great answer but it's probably pretty close to the truth.
No sound?
No, just a factory speaker for when you add the sound module of your choice.
