The only Nebraska-Oklahoma game since the early 70s to not be nationally televised (Oklahoma was on probation in '89 and could not have any of their games on live television)
ALSO OU had changed the offense for the 1989 season. They went away from the Wishbone and went to a multiple I. The switch had been announced before Barry Switzer resigned as head coach in June 1989.
This game was broadcast exclusively in Nebraska because Oklahoma had sanctions placed on them due to that scandal that forced Barry Switzer to resign as coach. So the rest of the country didn't get to see this game.
Oklahoma had a live TV ban in 1989 but the games could be shown on tape delay. This also included OU’s opponents. That is why the NCAA pretty much gave up on TV bans because opponents were being penalized for the Sind of the school on probation.

Loved Kenny Clark! RIP...
Didn't know he passed away? :(

JG was so good.
He was a beast!
Was this the public television late night replay? Oklahoma had a tv ban that year.
Produced by a local Lincoln station

I remember late at night they would show the Oklahoma games on tape delay when they were on probation
@@artieboyd1257 Merlyn Klaus was one of the commentators for this game. At the time, he was a sportscaster for WOWT, Omaha's NBC affiliate.

The one year that this rivalry didn't have conference championship implications and the winner playing in the FedEx Orange Bowl
Also 1990
The year of The Horse-collar Tackle.
The play @ 9:53 should of been penalized!
Wasn’t a penalty until 2008. The only penalty was the taunting. In typical OU ghetto thug fashion.
Lucky he walked again after that.
Is Ken Clark the most underappreciated Husker running back ever?
51:52 was an illegal forward pass.
No it wasn't. Parrellel .
@@ralfigs Yes it was. He pitched it before reaching the 14 yd line and it was caught passed the 14.
@@albertsaxony8092 nope not what I saw nor the refs.
@@ralfigs You didn't look closely enough, and the refs missed it. Happens often.
@@albertsaxony8092 Yeah Husker's rolled OU this game. You should get over it
