Man times have changed, shorts and tennis shoes on Harleys. It has been 501's leathers and boots since back in the sixties when I started riding, now its is 2019 and I still wear boots long pants and leathers. Shorts and tennis shoe just don't seem right!

I am riding from Indianapolis to Sturgis this year as well. I used to live in Rapid City. I have a lot of Native buddies who ride as well. Can't wait to see them tbh, pretty good people! I miss it, but don't miss the wages. I make a shit ton more here than I made there in SD. I had to work 3 jobs to make it. I was maintenance at 4 motels there... The Price, Dakota Rose, Motel Rapid ( Same Owner), and The Budget. All of em are on North St except Motel Rapid, it was on Sturgis Rd! I miss it, kinda...

I-90 was choked with RV's towing bikes on trailers. Hundreds of them. I bet the entire distance from Chamberlain to Sturgis, I didn't see 75 bikes actually riding on the road to get there. And it was a Saturday. The downtown scene? Bars and "pop-ups" selling merchandise to posers. I walked the entire downtown looking for some remnant of authentic, genuine motorcycle culture. In three solid hours.. nothing except a few vintage bikes parked on the street. I didn't even eat lunch there, got on my bike and left the whole fake scene in the rear view mirror. Never again.
It has quieted down the last decade or so as the party crowd gets older. Harley is in trouble they need a younger buyer to start buying bikes. But young people seem more interested in video games or something. Not that many are buying bikes of any kind

(We are all old fat ugly posers then I guess) Be outlaws, sell drugs, have turf wars, get rotten drunk and ride etc? Next time we’re riding out. Just have fun and get away, forget your stereotypes. No one gives what you think.
And the only young women there are just collage girls and strippers bartending and doing bike washes etc. Ever look around at the rally anymore? The average age has to be about 50 now, that's scary, not kool.

Had my bike washed by some hot girls at Laconia a # of years ago. Worst job ever on the scoot, but I could have cared less, especially when all four climbed on me while I sat on the Ultra for pics by my wife. Gotta make it to Sturgis one of these years.

This is a fools errand. Please if you went to this gathering, do not go straight home. Isolate for a couple of weeks to make sure that you are not bringing home more than just yourself. This bug can and will kill, not everyone, but enough of the people you love and cherish. COVID-19 came in on any bike, but it will leave on many bikes. There will be a lot of dead bikers after this. Please isolate and make sure that you are not carrying this bug home to your families and work places. Death is just natures way of telling you to slow down. A lot of these bikes are going to come up cheap in the estate sales of their former owner.

I think attractive clothing is much better then a thong, my wife agrees and say's those young girls are despaired for attention, I like good looking motor cycle leathers, that match ones ride and fits the person's body correctly, tennis shoes, cut offs, tee- shirts, are sloppy and don't belong on a bike that cost 50 or 70 grand. You not supposed to go to Church in a bathing suit so why look like some broke ass bum that borrowed some bodies bike and trying to be cool in a pair of ragged cut-offs and dirty tennis shoes.
