  • Eight treasure sticky rice pudding (Ba bao fan八宝饭 ) is a very popular dessert in China and is often found on festive family tables to signify family reunions and good fortune. It is made from eight ingredients and is steamed. It is prepared in different regions of China. Shanghai's Eight Treasures Rice is made from glutinous rice, red bean paste and red dates, and has a sweet, soft and sticky taste which is very popular.

    Eight treasure sticky rice pudding (Ba bao fan八宝饭 )
    Ingredients (1-2 servings)
    Glutinous rice 150g
    Dried red dates and fruit
    Red bean paste
    Pumpkin seeds
    Sliced almonds
    Peanuts
    Goji berries
    Walnuts
    Recipes
    1 Weigh 150 g of glutinous rice, wash it well, add water slightly over the rice by about 1 cm and cook it in a rice cooker.
    2 Cut the dates in half and remove the pits.
    3 Break the peanuts in half to make it easier to follow.
    4 Spread some honey around the bowl (you can also use lard)
    5 Stick the dates, walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds and goji berries evenly around the bowl. You can add as many different nuts or fruits as you like, or you can arrange them in a pattern of your choice.
    6 Place the steamed rice in a bowl; place the red bean paste on top of the rice; spread the rice evenly.
    7 Place the bowl in a steamer and turn the heat on high to steam for 20 minutes.
    8 Take out the steamed rice, fasten a plate over the bowl, turn the bowl and plate upside down, remove the bowl and the eight-piece rice is done!
