No wonder they are unwilling to accept you there, father Peter, as would be difficult anywhere… you are too smart for them, you expose too much of themselves to themselves. And you’re spiritually more educated and sophisticated. At least, that’s what they think as their consciousness gets stirred and shaken all around… I saw immediately several such younger bishops in our church falling into this category upon watching this video of yours. I followed your complete live streaming about the problem of your acceptance in ROCOR, and am under revolting feelings ever since. They don’t know what they are doing. How much they miss. I am by now rather experienced after a whole life behind me, and in my recollection there is one phenomenon, one human passion that I terribly undermined: the ENVY. And oh boy what actions it incites people to… NOT TO BE underestimated!
Academics have their place. And I suppose some education doesn't hurt most of the time. But with what I've seen of modern university and college, it's better left alone. I'd like to see a lot more adult education inside the church and with the lens of orthodoxy over it.
Canon 4 of the Fourth Ecumenical Council, and St. Nikodemos in his commentary on the canon, say that monks and hieromonks belong in monasteries and not in the world. This is the rule but sometimes there are reasons why exceptions are made. For example, a married priest whose wife reposes might be tonsured a hieromonk and continue to serve a parish if there is pastoral necessity. This is one example and not necessarily the only possible exception. The bigger problem is that today bishops are often chosen from those who were on the episcopal "career path" in the world from the beginning and who spent almost no time under strict monastic obedience to a discerning spiritual father in a monastery. Bishops should ideally be chosen from those who are seasoned monastics, who have purified their heart from worldly passions, and are prepared to lead people to salvation and not give in to the worldly-minded who want to change the Church to align more with their worldly goals and passions.
@@OrthodoxEthosthank you for your clarification. Fr how should we view the status of the orthodoxy of the EP himself as it appears he may hold ecumenist views?
OMG ! a real eye opener. thankyou for giving us this understanding of what is happening in our Orthodox society. but what can we do as lay people regarding this ?
Christian from Turkey. God bless❤

Where can we find a pdf of the cannons? ☦️🙏
Do an internet search for The Rudder. It's readily available. It has all the canons.

These "theologians" are certainly not that, according to Orthodox usage of the term.
Fr heers, my priest is a hieromonk and he is the only priest (ROCOR) around the area, is he wrong for being there?
Not necessarily. Sometimes children are born out of wedlock and that’s wrong but it doesn’t mean the child is wrong for existing
He told you that there are exceptions but the exception is not the rule
