Hi friends! Today I have a different kind of video for you - I thought it would be fun to do a comparison of all my dark blue shimmer nail polishes to see if I could dupe Mooncat House of Hades, since it's such a popular color! This is such a useful thing when a beloved polish is discontinued and ppl want something similar.

@@bluecobaltsteph2689 It was one of the lowest sellers for 3 years in a row. She held off on discontinuing it for a long time. Sometimes a polish just has to go!
@@KelliMarissaI find it a bit funny that the Polish is called "House of Hades", since Hades, in the Disney movie "Hercules", had blue flaming hair.
It's so funny that you did this video. My daughter-in-law used this blue in their wedding. I remember sitting down and going through all of my polishes trying to find the perfect blue. Thank goodness House of Hades released before the wedding. My ears still hurt from the way she squealed when I showed her that bottle. LOL. In my opinion Orly’s You're on Sapphire, is as close to a dupe as you can get to the real thing. Great compilation though. Truthfully, I didn't even think to grab Midnight Kiss, but I still think Orly is closer.
That was the one I thought was closest to.
I would love to see “building” dupes to the polish with cremes and shimmer/flakie toppers… like with Orly’s Britney Beach + ILNP Abyss + Spaced out 🤔 I think that might be an interesting way to approach it. I remember doing something similar to dupe Cirque’s Day Tripper when that sold out with a neon orangey coral creme + cirque’s Moonbeam
I laughed seeing this come up on my feed because I'm wearing House of Hades for the first time right now after seeing everyone rave about it for a year. It's got such an intense almost glowing effect, it's looks almost magical. Definitely lives up to the hype

House of hades is one of the most beautiful nail polishes i've ever purchased. It is a little clumpy, and you need to apply multiple thin coats, but once you have good coverage it is like you have jewels on your nails.

I thought these dark blues were all going to look the same - I was so wrong! They were much more different than I expected. I really enjoyed this comparison video. I hope you make more of these. 👍

Check out Lurid Lacquer - small new indie brand. They have a shade called You Are As Unrelenting As Your Love that looks very similar to Mooncat House of Hades. I'll have to compare them when the Lurid shade comes in. Didn’t realize they were similar until now. :)

I love comparison videos like this. I’ve had my eye on house of hades and sea glass so it was great to see how the formula looked similar but the tones were very different.
It really is fun to see the slight variations by brand when they're all making basically the same color haha! I have to do more of these!
Ethereal Lacquer recently released Lament which looks very close to HOH. I just received it this weekend, and I will be comparing the two. In the bottle, they seem very similar!

It's so weird, this color doesn't really look like much on camera. But it's absolutely STUNNING irl. I have such an issue with committing to buying polish when i can't get a good read on what it will really look like (bad lighting? too many inconsistent pics?). So i don't even remember why i bought this one but I'm glad I did! 💙

Enjoyed this! I didn’t pick up House of Hades during the recent Mooncat sale because I was thinking it might be similar to CG’s Sapphire Up, which I have. Even though your video proves the two aren’t dupes, they may be close enough for me since I don’t grab bright, rich blues very often. For now, I’m just going to keep it on my Mooncat wish list. I love this video concept! It's always so interesting to see how polishes are similar but not quite the same. I'd probably never eat spicy foods again. I love spicy stuff but my tongue will hurt for days afterwards 😂

Please do more videos like this!! My polish collection is starting to get large enough that I don't want to buy polishes that are too similar, and sometimes it's hard to tell from swatches that aren't side by side and photographed in different lighting.

This was so fun! I love this idea. I actually just picked up ILNP Sundance, which looks almost exactly like Holo Taco Full Charge. I can’t wait to compare them on the nails since I’m one of the people who LOVE Full Charge and is so sad it’s retired. 😁
I'd love a video on jewel greens (special finishes and all). We've been getting more greens recently and it makes me happy, but I haven't seen many that looked jeweled. Muted sage/olive greens seem the most common rn

i love any and all comparison vids! i did get ILNP midnight kiss as a way to dupe HOH because i didn't pick that one up, it's definitely a lot darker and bluer but i still enjoy it a lot, all these shades are wonderful actually 💙💙 sea glass especially is gorgeous
i'd give up spicy food forever! i can't take a lot of spice and i dislike the way it makes me feel, so i'd be completely okay giving them up!

Right off the top of my head - Bep Bep Blue by Holo Taco and High Fructose by Moon Cat.
I don't have HoH, but I have China Glaze's Frostbite. It's a shimmer & so good. It's actually the only CG I own.
I feel like their formula can be hit or miss but I generally LOVE CG shimmers!
I just bought a backup of House of Hades. I learned my lesson when Pretty Serious went out of business; I've been searching for a dupe of The Pink One for years. The Barbie Movie both helped my search and made me _even more_ frustrated. It inspired an avalanche of neon pink polishes, but I _still_ haven't found anything with the saturation and depth of The Pink One.
There's something about The Pink One that's incredibly flattering on everyone I've lent it to, even though we all have significantly different skin tones. It seems to be a universally flattering shade.
I've built up quite the collection of hot pink shimmer polishes in my search. Harrumph. 😉
I think the closest one I saw was ILNP Midnight Kiss. None of them were exact dupes. Which for me says... own them all. Which I have 6 of the ones used for comparison plus House of Hades. I love blue nail polish. It's one of my favorite shades. So I'd love more of these videos!!! This was so much fun!!!

This is so neat, thank you for doing this! I have been thinking for a while that I would LOVE for you to compare your Dusty Rose colors. I have the Yves Rocher shade "25. Rose Hortensia" and I love it! But it's old and discontinued and I'm running low. I'd love to get a similar shade but I can't tell the difference between other shades because all the product photos have different lighting, etc. I would be in your debt if you did a Dusty Rose comparison video!
The only one I have is OPI Scorpio Seduction. I’ve yet to wear it. All of these shades are beautiful. I really liked this video because I’m notorious for seeing a polish that I love, purchasing it, then immediately checking to see if I have a dupe instead of figuring that out first.
Spiciness wise, I want to feel the spicy, but it should have flavor. I recently got YellowBird's 5 main sauces and the Blue Agave is the tastiest. We've had some from Hot Ones. Don't get Da Bomb!
The kbshimmer Tripped Up looks a lot like Late Checkout from Holo Taco. It's nice seeing these comparisons and what it takes to get to the one shade.
Hey Kelli! This was such a fun video…thank you for the comparisons. I LOVE blues purples blurples and would happily own all of these blues. Another favorite is bright greens…any chance to dupe Shake Your Shamrock (Dreamland Lacquer) or Sour Apple Rings (Atomic Polish) or similar if you don’t have those PPU colors?? 😻

Last time I tried HoH I didn’t love it…but I got me a kbshimmer from ppu Jan this year called Howl you doin’, is different because is a shimmer but it def has the same glowing effect and I loved it a lot! I’m gonna have to try HoH sometime soon to see how I feel about it! Thank you for the fun comparison vid! ❤
