Hi. Since you filled up drawers, what do you do if, say, you have a new OPI red? Where do you put it if the drawer is full? Sorry if this is a dumb question or if you mentioned this in the video.
Not a dumb question! I did mention it for a brief second in the video but it was easy to miss haha. I usually put new polishes in empty drawer spaces (so in that case it would be the overflow drawer in the second row) and that's why I always have to reorganize my polishes LOL because they end up getting totally out of order after a few months of new polishes!

I have a lot of Mooncat and just started collecting other Indie brands like Bees Knees, Ethereal, KB Shimmer, Cadillacquer, Sassy Sauce, Alchemy, Monarch, Lumen, and one of my latest great finds is LynB designs. How do you keep them from drying up/unmixing? You can't possibly wear them all regularly even if you changed every day... I find polish thickens 6 mos to a year after it's opened and it'a harder to paint on...
Hmm, nail polish shouldn't thicken, especially that quickly, are you closing your bottles tightly enough? I have some that are decades old and still apply great!
My husband was an electrician for 45 years, and he says that where something is plugged in is the most likely place for a fire to start. The connection gets warm than hot then it can throw sparks or burst into flame. So your choice of location for the remover is not wise.
Fantastic video! I have 787 Zoya, I have most of them on wall racks as I love looking at the rainbow, but I need to get a couple more wall racks, I have 4 helmers with various other brands but I rarely buy other brands now, it’s Zoya and fancy gloss. I wish my room was bigger so that maybe I could have more helmers. Oh I should say I probably have a similar amount of polish overall, but I haven’t counted lol
I'd probably get rid of brands that I don't use often to start haha! And then I'd make a pile of my "must keep" polishes and then decide which non necessary colors to destash!
Haha that's a great question. I wear polishes seasonally which helps narrow it down a lot (so for example I wouldn't wear a neon during the winter, I stick to more gray tones in late winter and jeweled colors during the holidays) and then from there I generally pick a color that matches whatever makeup color I'm in the mood to wear for a few days haha!
All mine are in Excel. Not only is it so satisfying but also useful. I just referred to it today before making a polish order and saved myself from purchasing a duplicate.

I did buy a paint shaker from that online A store. It’s the best for mixing. I love the drawer system, however; it will drive me crazy not being able to see the colors dead on. My mood picks my manicure colors. Thanks for the inventory organized share.
The BEST polish mixer I've ever used is a lab analog vortex mixer with a cup head. You can pick up good priced used ones that are still in great shape, and nothing mixes chunky, thick glitters better! I have a few cream colors that stay streaky no matter how much you hand shake them, and my brick of a mixer shakes them right up.
I guessed 4000!! So many! Would love to see those in person! Any plans on filming an ILNP office tour? Seeing them mix polishes or how they pack an order would be amazing ❤
Yeah, the numbers can multiply real soon even if you dont swatch because there are so many different finishes and colors. I have about 70 and I find them difficult to organize. Kudos to you for managing all of them❤
My first nail polish was my dad's automotive touch up paint in GM Metalized Medium Blue. Car paint looks amazing on nails (don't forget the 2 coats of base!)

As of now I have 185. My top was around 350 but my brain doesn’t like to have more than I can wear. I usually go through all of my polishes in a year to use them and that helps me let go of some. I want to keep it under 200 so I’m trying to be more picky. I store mine in an over the door shoe holder.
I use Lacquergram to catalog! I love having the visual and just being able to tap a button to add instead of having to catalog things manually. It's got a details and notes option as well for tracking specifics. Question about the drawers, since I'm about to build the Helmer drawers. If memory serves you didn't put in the drawer stopper to leave more room, right?
I loved this so much!! 🤩 can't even explain why, it just feels good ☺ The next time my husband or mom (she had a collection over 100 before she decluttered it) claims that I own too many polishes, I'll show them this video 😁 Cause I only have 2 Helmers and about 500-600 polishes not included base and top coats 😅 OPI is also the brand I have the most from with 4 drawers dedicated 😁

My collection consists of 489 essie original 103 essie gel couture 27 essie expressie 17 essie love 46 orly 48 opi 24 mooncat 21 ilnp 4 halo taco 6 became 19 base, top, care And 5 dupe colors Total 810 Most are collections. I keep them in 11x17 sterlight plastic containers. They are arranged by brand then color. Wish we could post pictures of our collections. But this was very satisfying to watch. Thanks 😊
I wouldn’t criticize a thing, I think you organized them perfectly. I own 1800+, and I’d love for my collection to look like yours. I keep mine in the 48pc plastic carrying cases with handles, so I can see what I’m looking for. I love it. Its organized by brand tho, so it’s not as beautiful as your rainbow 🌈
I'm not a very organizy person, and what works for me is if I ask myself "where would I look for this first?" and then I put it there. If you'd look in the pink drawer for that medium coral shade, then you should put it there, where it makes sense to you. Then you'll always find what you're looking for.
That's a great way to think about it, and I think subconsciously that's how I organized too because some colors just "feel" like they belong in a certain group lol
Small chance this could be a problem, but you may not want to put charging equipment that heats up/can fault out next to massively flammable liquids? Don't mind the mess, but the safety is #1 XD I wonder if test tube racks would work for the ISN polishes... it can sit right side up on the bottom shelf and upside down with the cap in the hole on the top shelf!

Please show how to organization by color!! I tried to give in rainbow order, and just keep adjusting based on each color and shade. But the rainbow doesn't cover pink-y nude, pink, purple, brown, black, white, gold, rose gold, silver, and copper, and multi-chromes. 😅
I have that same nail polish tower and I already filled it up 🤣😅 but I’m trying to track what polishes I’m using and which ones I’m not. I got some rubber bands meant for hair and put them on every single bottle. And then, later this year, I’ll see what ones still have the rubber band on it and depending on the quality I’ll give it to a family member.
That is a seriously smart idea on how to tell which polishes you've been wearing! I've heard a similar trick with clothing/hangers but I never thought to do it with polish haha!

I used to have a nail polish spreadsheet! Not sure of your exact needs, but I included name/brand/short description/have i swatched it on IG?(plus a hyperlink to the post)/when did I wear it last?/how many coats does it need? ... I destashed most of my collection this past year and largely stopped buying so much, so the spreadsheet isn't really necessary to me anymore, but it helped A LOT while my collection was in the 1000-1500 realm! (Especially content-creation-wise!)
I didn’t know Essie changers their formula! I bought the Mint Candy Apple that everyone loves YEARS ago and I hated it. No matter what I did I got air bubbles. But I took a chance on Sugar Daddy a little while ago and LOVED it.

A lot of the colors you can't tell what they are. Because they don't date their look like a different. A lot of the nail polishes don't have the name of the colors owner. And i'd like to get fingernail Polish with the nail. What the name of the Polish? So I know what I'm using. Specially especially when you have a lot of nail polish, it's a lot easier like that
I have about a thousand myself. I've gone on a no buy and just shop my stash. Also I've seen mainstream brands cost more than Indy brands. Id rather support Indy brands than mainstream.

Fun fact. I have the same tower from Amazon and only put Holo Taco on it, and it just finally got full with their last collection. Lol The only ones I don't have on it are the glow in the dark and crackle polishes.
Your nail polish collection is amazing ! I agree about I Scream Nails. While they are cute, the bottle is impractical. If you open the drawer a little too roughly, they all fall over 😢 Also, I couldn't help but notice you don't have any Emily de Molly ! I highly recommend them and would love to see you review them as part of Small Brand Spotlight. They are a small brand based out of Camberra, Australia and they also have a US website. They have beautiful finishes and their formula is 💣
Yesss definitely agree! I think those orangey toned pinks and the purpley toned pinks are totally different and belong on opposite sides of the rainbow haha!

The organizing process was a lot but what really helped me speed through it was having an audiobook to listen to while I organized haha! I felt so productive and I got a whole book done too! 😋❤️

I wouldn’t criticize a thing, I think you organized them perfectly. I own 1800+, and I’d love for my collection to look like yours. I keep mine in the 48pc plastic carrying cases with handles, so I can see what I’m looking for. I love it. Its organized by brand tho, so it’s not as beautiful as your rainbow 🌈

I'm not a very organizy person, and what works for me is if I ask myself "where would I look for this first?" and then I put it there. If you'd look in the pink drawer for that medium coral shade, then you should put it there, where it makes sense to you. Then you'll always find what you're looking for.
That's a great way to think about it, and I think subconsciously that's how I organized too because some colors just "feel" like they belong in a certain group lol

I wonder if test tube racks would work for the ISN polishes... it can sit right side up on the bottom shelf and upside down with the cap in the hole on the top shelf!

Please show how to organization by color!! I tried to give in rainbow order, and just keep adjusting based on each color and shade.
But the rainbow doesn't cover pink-y nude, pink, purple, brown, black, white, gold, rose gold, silver, and copper, and multi-chromes. 😅

I have that same nail polish tower and I already filled it up 🤣😅 but I’m trying to track what polishes I’m using and which ones I’m not. I got some rubber bands meant for hair and put them on every single bottle. And then, later this year, I’ll see what ones still have the rubber band on it and depending on the quality I’ll give it to a family member.
That is a seriously smart idea on how to tell which polishes you've been wearing! I've heard a similar trick with clothing/hangers but I never thought to do it with polish haha!

I used to have a nail polish spreadsheet! Not sure of your exact needs, but I included name/brand/short description/have i swatched it on IG?(plus a hyperlink to the post)/when did I wear it last?/how many coats does it need? ... I destashed most of my collection this past year and largely stopped buying so much, so the spreadsheet isn't really necessary to me anymore, but it helped A LOT while my collection was in the 1000-1500 realm! (Especially content-creation-wise!)

I didn’t know Essie changers their formula! I bought the Mint Candy Apple that everyone loves YEARS ago and I hated it. No matter what I did I got air bubbles. But I took a chance on Sugar Daddy a little while ago and LOVED it.

A lot of the colors you can't tell what they are. Because they don't date their look like a different. A lot of the nail polishes don't have the name of the colors owner.
And i'd like to get fingernail Polish with the nail. What the name of the Polish? So I know what I'm using.

I agree about I Scream Nails. While they are cute, the bottle is impractical. If you open the drawer a little too roughly, they all fall over 😢

Yesss definitely agree! I think those orangey toned pinks and the purpley toned pinks are totally different and belong on opposite sides of the rainbow haha!
Most indie makers do make their own brand stickers that can be made into magnets for the drawers.

Have you ever thought about laying your nail polishes on their sides and using those spice drawer organizers with slanted levels? Are your drawers the right kind of shape for that?
If you put the vial on the side the brush will dry up inside

The organizing process was a lot but what really helped me speed through it was having an audiobook to listen to while I organized haha! I felt so productive and I got a whole book done too! 😋❤️
