@@g-r-a-e-m-e- It's a while since I've been in the shop. I didn't know that the second hand book shop was one of the biggest in the country. Carlisle is a truly destination city 🤣
Just found your site& have enjoyed watching you compose, etc. I have a 5dsR with kit lens24-105L & it's never off my camera. The only lens I use when I need extra reach! The other lens, kept in my pocket, is the 'nifty-fifty' -can't go wrong with that combo. Thanks for the video Andrew & happy new year.
@@andrewfindlayphoto Yes, it is a quite uncommon event here. In the extreme south of Brazil we have cold winters, negative Celsius temperatures, but we rarely have any snow here. Sometimes that happens during the winter in the mountains that we have in our state. Best!
Very nice, Andrew. What do you think of the camera with the 24-105mm? Quite a tough setting to shoot. Perhaps the lesson learned forgetting your glasses, is to put a small magnifying glass in the camera bag for the future! By the way, Alison bought me a Canon 24-70 L IS f4. It is a great lens for Christmas. A great feature is the macro setting. It is not 1:1, but is better than my Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro lens. It is sharper than my 24-105 as well. So I now have from 16mm through to 200mm with my 3 lenses. My goal is to get a longer telephoto to go with them. What would you recommend? How are you getting on with the 14mm? Looking forward to seeing more landscapes. Anyway, Happy New Year to you. 😁
Thanks for the Christmas card. Sorry I didn't send one back. I was looking after a sick friend, they are getting better now. The new 5Ds shows up the limits of the 24-105mm. But the 100-400mm works great and it's a Mark 1. Which is my favourite lens. I haven't used the 14mm it's not a lens I go for. I only got it for interiors or night sky (maybe) and it's was cheap. Enjoy your 24-70mm, I might get one if my horse wins the National. 😁
I have a5Dsr and tend to not shoot full sized RAW unless there is something really spectacular since I don't feel the need for the full resolution all the time, but it is a nice option. I think the images would have looked better with a darker sky and a more nighttime look to it, maybe black and white? Crush the shadows in certain places kind of thing. I think I would have shot the image at about 8 minutes with the woman walking through and seen if something may have been possible with her in it, depending on shutter speed and such. Maybe she would be a ghost, or maybe not, would be interesting to see if anything pr4esented itself. The guy with the dog and person walking by may have had some possibilities too. I have found the closer you can keep the lens and camera to dead level the better verticals will work out. Good efforts, best wishes! God bless!
Thanks John. I intend to do some extensive cloning in the future to remove any modernity for stock/art use. I might try black and white. I wasn't thinking of people in the photos, maybe next time.😊
Photography was never so complicated? A 50mp owner's life is not an easy life - bells + vloggers + freezing cold weather. I was out in minus 5 this morning too!
Awesome photos in the ❄️🌨️

The second hand bookshop surely also deserves a mention, just across the street from the cathedral, and one of the biggest in the country,

That cafe thing they nailed on the fratry is a crime imho.
@@edgeyt1 I wondered how they allowed the café 'The Lord moves in mysterious ways' 🤔

@@davidross5930 Thanks for tuning in. I thought about the 24mm prime. But I'm a long lens lover so I can't justify it 🙂
Thanks Andrew. I was waiting for a ghost to make an appearance. Very spooky scene in the early morning!
I did see Mary Queen of Scots. She wasn't making any sense. She'd lost her head.

Interesting. Have you now retired the MKII?
