Removing the eGPU port shouldn't be much of an issue because the people using that port are presumably gaming plugged in just as much as using the ROG Ally for mobile gaming, it should be a safe assumption that the ROG Ally X won't see nearly as much desktop use as the v1 ROG Ally.
10:30 the OG Ally is set to 4GB VRAM while the Ally X is set to 8GB VRAM. They should both have 8GB of VRAM set for a fair comparison, and leave the differences to the Ally X having faster and more system memory. The same for Cyberpunk at 10:52. Did you run all the tests like this? The graphics drivers are also not the same. The OG Ally is running the official AMD driver, while the Ally X is running the Asus graphics driver, which is older. There's too much inconsistency in your comparison benchmarks.
2:15 They should not upgrade, it's not something worth spending that much more money into a company that can't even provide proper warranty support. And it's not yet on RDNA4 or Zen5 so it's not a performance upgrade too. It's way better to buy Steam Deck Oled in this price point.
none of windows handheld can compete this year, maybe legion go has a larger screen, but 1600p is overkilll for the poor chip and its 16:10 meaning lots of indie and japanese games will leave you 2 black bars on top and bottom with that ips glow to your eyes

In Europe it costs €900 which is like $1000, so it's way too expensive for now... considering the original one had almost the same price at launch in EU and I got it at a sale recently for $350 😅
The best thing you could do is wait...
Been seeing reviews on best buy that some people have been having it not turn on at all even with it plugged in someone had the right trigger completely stop working after 30 mins but mostly the bad reviews were about how the battery will not hold a charge at all or it just won't turn on so take that as you will
ROG ALLY X is better than Legion Go?
El 26 me llega esta consola. Menos mal que la reservé.
Gracias por los vídeos que haces. ❤
Weird, why no egpu test with the X? We had the normal review already didnt we
I swear we all have the same little green plant. 😂
Is there a hard disk that emulates old and new games in a size of 500g that you recommend purchasing through the Aliexpress application?
The zotac zone can’t come soon enough. 8840u, oled, hall effect sticks, track pads, ENDGAME!
It's gonna have the same iGPU 750M so not really end game specs if you ask me. That OLED doesn't even have VRR. It's gonna be a nice device for sure but my next upgrade won't be until the strix point APU.
Bro the 8840u is almost worse than the 7840u, and trackpads are worthless, I have never heard someone willingly using them when a mouse exists 💀
@@n64slayer Trackpads are literally god tier for shooters and strategy games and any game that doesn’t natively support gamepads. Also the 8840u reks the 7840u at low and high tdp
Question about the Timespy results at 11:43… is that 17w,25, or plugged in 30w? I’m only getting something close to that when I’m plugged in on 30 with my Ally X.
I have a lenovo legion go and a steam deck and the only problem i have with my legion go is how i hold a controller i play with my hands in a double claw position and the legion go is not a handheld made for me its blocky and big but the steam deck has one of the best controller layouts for how i play i love my steam deck even tho its weaker i just wish there was something i can use as hard as my legion go i use that thing for tuning my car and actually is a productivity item and the rog ally seems like a trade off i can only play claw unless i use my index finger for the left joystick am pretty used to but i dont enjoy playing like that for a long period of time hopefully someone comes up with a steam deck layout but with the internals of this so i can play in peace but also use it as a productivity hog and work and for hobbies
No one besides phaux has talked about the vram with gaming and had it set to 8gv when testing games
I would love to see a test on mmorpg, such as FF14 (or Wow) , just to see how it handle battery life with this kind of games
Its not worth it for existing Ally Z1E owners to upgrade to the Ally X, waiting for next gen SOCs for this form factor
What makes this stand out over a Steam Deck? Quite curious because I want to compare and snag something but I am conflicted.
That you can actually play AAA titles with decent fps unlike deck
Bigger battery, more ram, newer cpu, bigger screen with vrr. Run on window, which can bgood or bad
@@bskiy you still can’t play Returnal at a playable framerate even on this
@@brandon_nopeI don't think anyone wants to play that game let alone on a handheld
Removing the eGPU port shouldn't be much of an issue because the people using that port are presumably gaming plugged in just as much as using the ROG Ally for mobile gaming, it should be a safe assumption that the ROG Ally X won't see nearly as much desktop use as the v1 ROG Ally.
Will the Ally X fit in the same travel case as the OG Ally?
probably yes
I heard it doesn’t on some cases
@@OMGdidyouJuStSeeDAT Won't fit in the ROG Ally travel case? I just got mine two months ago but I have just the Z1 not the Extreme.
cyberpunk high settings 1080p without any upscale and it runs over 30fps???? that's insane.
With lcd 7.0 screen it's just all z1 just with bigger ram.and bettery unlike steam deck oled wasn't just different ram and screen
We need upgradable ram with this devices
I beg to differ the bigger back button is more comfortable and you can rest your fingers while holding the ally.
If you dont have one, why even speak on it? lol
No its not do you even have one? 😂
the normal ally feels like shit to hold. I have had one since it released and I never feel comfortable holding it.
@@Peraliq after having the new one, it is a understatement on how much more comfortable the ally x is, huge improvement.
Massive L for us who preordered from JB HiFi in Western Australia, came in to pick up mine today but was told that they dont have the units on hand.
Emulation and stress testing please.
Minor refresh if you own the og ally. Waiting to see if the microSD card reader issue is fixed.
It has been, have you been lost the last couple months?
@@n64slayer fixed on the ally x? It isn't official out yet, where from the future are you from? 🤔 😂
11:07 vram on both the allys are different from 4gb and 8gb so not much of a fair comparison
Waiting on usps
With Strix Point 3 weeks away I don't get what's the point in a 900€ 2023 chip equipped handheld
The screen aspect ratio is my issue. Also the size of the screen.
@@arzayus84 yep oled wins
They should have increased the size for sure
Thanks
im waiting on a full egpu review to pull the trigger, if can hold 80-90 frames with a egpu at 1440 would be awesome!
That's kinda poop ngl just buy a desktop tbh
@@n64slayer i dont need a desktop boy! but i understand what u saying
when you did your fps comparison did you still have your 8gb dedicated to the gpu?
2:15 They should not upgrade, it's not something worth spending that much more money into a company that can't even provide proper warranty support. And it's not yet on RDNA4 or Zen5 so it's not a performance upgrade too. It's way better to buy Steam Deck Oled in this price point.
Been waiting for this, great review! I’d really like to see it go against the Legion Go
none of windows handheld can compete this year, maybe legion go has a larger screen, but 1600p is overkilll for the poor chip and its 16:10 meaning lots of indie and japanese games will leave you 2 black bars on top and bottom with that ips glow to your eyes
@@fourtii8707 I hear you appreciate it
@fourtii8707 bro 99% of legion go users never use 1600p to play games. And in my opinion Lego and steam deck oled is still better than ally x
@@OleksiiK21 yeah you could argue steam deck oled has oled and better price and the os is incredible, in fact I own one for more than 6months now. But in what way is legion go better than ally x lol? does it have better battery life? is it lighter? is the screen native landscape with vrr support? does it have a better frontend app? does it have better button layout like a true xbox controller? or does it have better cooling & fan noise? or does it have more and faster ram?
