I love how unapologetically themselves this band is. They've never been a slave to record sells, top forty, or anything else. Love them!
Matt bellamy is a genius of his time. One of the best lyricists you'll ever hear. Muse are an incredible live band, I'd recommend knights of cydonia at Rome Olympic Stadium, hysteria live at Wembley, plug in baby at Rome Olympic stadium and butterflies and hurricanes live at Wembley.

Muse is a great, great band. Some of my favorites: Hysteria, Knights of Cydonia, Stockholm Syndrome, Time is Running Out. There are a ton of great songs.
Also, the next Muse song that you should really check out is “Hysteria”. It opens with one of the best bass lines in heavy music.

'Plug in baby' is how you introduce a first time listener to Muse. This song wouldn't of even entered my head.

If you ever did make it to a live show I would suggest these guys. I’ve been to a couple hundred shows and I’ve seen them twice. Their live shows are incredible.

When my daughter was still a teen living at home we had an unspoken deal. I'd take her to Muse concerts and she goes with me to Rush concerts. Both are awesome live shows and we both came to really appreciate both bands.
Muse is one of those rare bands that can't seem to write a bad song. Even their b-sides are better than most bands and their great live.
Muse towers above maroon 5, but you will need to hear more of their songs for that to be clear.
Uprising by muse is another good listen

Muse, IMO, is one of the more original acts of the last 20 years...I would call them "Progressive Rock" ..opinions will vary. I am sure. They have a big, fat sound...especially for a 3 piece band

You are killing it with your choices tonight! Strange choice for an entry point to Muse and I have to say you really should check out a live performance. They have done some of the best live shows ever. For a three piece they are one of the most powerful bands touring at the moment. Check out almost anything from the concert at the Olympic stadium in Rome 2013, but do not miss out on ‘ Knights of Cydonia’ and ‘Plug in baby’
You need to check out their live stuff. Not even going to recommend a song because their so good live that you can’t go wrong. One of the best live bands ever.
It's so worth checking out the line versions of Knight of Cydonia or plug in baby from their concert at the Rome Olympic stadium
Muse has a very distinct sound but they experiment with different styles, which I like a lot. For a heavier sound check out their song Assassin. I know a lot of people are hating on the song you just reacted to but I have always loved this song. I think especially if you’ve known someone like he is singing about you appreciate and relate to the song more. I hope you do more Muse, they have so many amazing songs! Like others here have suggested, Uprising or Madness would be good ones to react to next if you are looking for more Muse.
Knights of Cydonia live in Rome is a better place to start with Muse. Plug in Baby from the same concert as well... Its an amazing show, the music the light show, the crowd, all of it together is well worth it
Knights of Cydonia, Starlight, and Map of the Problematique. All utterly genius songs.
you also can see that the story of the music reflects in their dance as well, like when the video starts they're dancing WITH each other, complementing their moves, symbolizing (I guess) the beginning of the relationship, halfway thru their dances are completely disconnected, she's doing one thing and he's doing other, like they don't get along anymore and by the end, when he says that he basically turned into someone like her, he even copies her moves, as if he learned how to be like her.

Dig deep and dine heartily on this band, guys. True greatness. As far as genre, I see a similarity to "songs about jane" era M5. Overall they're more like Queen and Rush and Yes in my view.

I’ve seen so many bands over four decades from multiple genres. That said, seeing Muse in the early to mid 2000’s is one of the greatest performances I have ever seen. Jump down that rabbit hole, Alice.

Muse is absolutely my fav band of all time. You should listen to any and all of there catalog. So many different genres and influences in there music. Mathew Bellamy is an absolute musical genius. More Muse Please!

The best songs on their first album entitled showbiz are probably the title track and 'Muscle Museum'. Then check out 'Newborn', 'Plug-in-baby' and 'Bliss' from the 2nd album... etc There is so much quality to explore with Muse.

The catalog of Muse is amazing any album and singles they have released are amazing, any era any time, had the pleasure of hearing them in Copenhagen. Great band amazing music.
Lex if you like classical music you have to give Muse exogenesis symphony a listen, a perfect blend of Matts haunting voice and classical music
Muse the best live band ever. For 20yrs they have filled stadiums, yes even in the U.S. A very diverse catalogue and do most of the genres better than those in the those genres. Muse can not be defined, they are Muse. The energy they create on stage is a combination of their chemistry; some of all the bands parts and a desire for their fans to experience the best show ever, which if you ask anyone who has been to a live show, fan or none fan, it is the best concert they have been to bar none. Matt Bellamy again is arguably the best live singer ever, he is flawless with every performance. He is one of the best guitarists in music as well as being a classically trained pianist. He is a musical genius, his writing spans classical movements to funk. His father was in the band, Tornado's in the sixties and had a U.S number one with Telstar. One of the very rare bands that sound better live. Review more, live only and you two will become fans of Muse. Added bonus watch your subs increase. Muse are massive and have been for a very long time. The best and most long lived band to come out of the U.K. Also they are very much awake and aware and understand who the elites are and how they control us (See Resistance Live).
One suggestion. This song was a MASSIVE hit, yet more of a one hit wonder, so many people don't recognize the name. Norman Greenbaum - Spirit In The Sky. Would love to see a reaction to that.
Muse is one of my favorite band and i suggest if you react to them u must always do live performances. I've seen them several times and I'm blown away everytime.
If you want both sides of the spectrum of Muse, look up Endlessly and then Madness. They are my 2 favorite Muse songs to play on repeat.

Any time you do a future Muse song reaction I highly recommend you find a live version of it, they're just elite live.
Saw them live for the first time in 1999 on a big festival right before the first time I saw Korn (was a big Korn fan at that time). I only knew the song muscle museum back then. They played the smallest stage. After that they blew up and played main stage at a lot of the big festivals. Awesome live band! Definitely check out some songs of the Origin of Symmetry album. Plug in baby, Bliss, New born. Such a great guitar/bass sound and lets not forget about that drummer. 3 talented guys just doing their own thing.

You've got to listen to Muse live. They bring something special when they perform live. You won't regret it. Maybe start with Knights of Cydonia Live at Rome Olympic Stadium.
Before the Muse there was Stabbing Westward and Deadsy. Check them out. Muse is a talented and creative band. Madness is one of the greatest songs ever. I always felt like Muse was the band Prince and Michael Jackson formed together when they wanted to get into heavy hard rock. But of course there was Savage Garden.
Been listening to Muse for almost 20 years and they just continue to get better and better. They have strayed a bit from their straight up heavy rock sounds for more electronic, but it works so damn well and they still have heavy elements when they want to. I HIGHLY suggest more of them. Doesn't even matter the song, just do more. Truly a talented band and better than so many others in this time, especially for a 3 piece group.
The whole band is just unique
The song 'Dead Inside' is only loosely based upon a theoretical relationship between two people, yet the lyrics extend much deeper than this ... to how our society itself has become 'dead inside', which in a symbiotic dynamic bleeds the members of society, all gradually and unnoticeably having lost the 'life' & excitement of growth and discovery. This indicates that all of us have withdrawn into ourselves to an extent, and subsequently live out our lives as empty shells, devoid of the zest for life that we had as very young children.

I actually hadn't heard this song either. So I looked it up and it's from 2015. Muse lead singer Matt Bellamy was married to actress Kate Hudson. They divorced in 2014, so there's a good chance the song is about her.
Anyway there are a lot better Muse songs. They're also amazing live. You should check one of their live performances.

You guys need to listen to their songs "MADNESS" and "Uprising"! The music is different from most that you've reacted to. ther are a mix of modern rock, new age, and techno. Brad, you will love the lyrics and Lex, I believe you will absolutely love the music. I love the way Madness slowly builds.

If you found this sound interesting, you might check out Poets of the Fall. "Carnival of Rust" and "Daze" are both really good and the videos are visually striking, while "Lift" is a bit more aggressive/upbeat.

I'm not sure this is the Muse song I'd have started with as an introduction to the band. Hysteria, to me, is THE definitive Muse song.

I recommend the song Easily by Muse, it has a similar dark vibe to it. One of my favourite Muse songs.
