I understand the production B-1 to have been equipped with some stealth tech. An article in a 1980's issue of AIR FIRCE Magazine I read said that it sneaked over Nellis AFB at low altitude. Also that it was as agile as many fighter planes of the time
I'm sure the B1 uses some stealth technology. From the curves of its wing and fuselage transition, and the dark coating, stealth technology was used. The B1 was designed for nuclear strikes at ultra-low altitude and supersonic speeds to break through the Soviet air defense network, and the use of stealth technology helped it accomplish this mission.
@@historyandweapon Re your last statment; that was the reason why they were willing to drop supersonic capability. It might have been better to bifurcate the program, one fork being high speed and the other being high stealth. Putting all the eggs on one basket, well, I'm sure you know that story
