I initially left Canada 20 years ago and spent the better part of a decade living and working abroad thereafter. I met my now wife during those years and thought it would be a prudent decision to return to Canada to start a family. That was 10 years ago and am now considering re-expatriating with the family for similar reasons to those discussed. Taxation without representation and a massive public sector underpinned on an increasingly stretched private sector. Pressures limiting freedom of conscience and speech are also concerning. A major factor in the final decision will necessitate factors such as safety and access to job opportunities for the children into adulthood. Curaçao, for example, opens the door to Dutch citizenship and job opportunities throughout the EU.
Thanks for sharing your story! Amazing how you met your wife abroad and started your family. Sometimes we need to leave situations that don’t suit our needs for better opportunities elsewhere. Very good points
Jennifer is a very helpful advisor when it comes to Citizenship by Investment area, I am actually going to work with her in getting Canadian residency for me and one of my close friend and their family. Also I talked about her company when I talk about St.Kitts & Navis CBI program for my friends . Look forward to working with Jennifer and her company.
Jennifer, great that you had the ambition and courage to do what you did; for US citizens of course, we do not have the same opportunity to avoid US taxes by living/working abroad.

Haha, you're the female version of me, I currently live in Quebec, but not for much longer. I'm currently planning to move out in a couple of months, I'm not 100% set on the destination yet. I'm looking at SEA and El Salvador.
You can leave Canada now. Get a residency permit in the country you want to CBI move there and wait for approval. I am surprised Trudeau has not incanted global taxation of Canadian citizens as the US model does. I am sure it is on the horizon.
@@calvinconcepts I am Canadian but I live in the USA. The writing is on the wall. Canada is desperate for tax revenue and I'm sure they will levy something on people like me pretty soon.
Watching what Trudue has and is doing to Canada and the people the last few years, you made the wises descion Jennifer, all the 5 eyes countries are rapidly deteriorating in terms of human rights, cost of living and freedoms
I live outside of Canada for more than 183 days and given up all residential ties but holding a Canadian passport, non-resident Canadian bank account, credit card and drivers licence (so I don’t to go through road tests again ), would I still be considered as non-resident of Canada for tax purposes?
I agree wholeheartedly about your assessment of Canada, it's very similar to Australia sadly. I didn't know of your interest in Cryptocurrencies until now, that's great to know and is a big reason for my interest to one day move abroad. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your comment. We have helped a lot of Australians over the past few years. It seems Canada and Australia are going in the same direction. Thanks for watching and for your nice comment.
The UK likely stopped visa free travel for Dominican citizens because the Dominica Citizenship by Investment Program accepted applicants that had previous visa denials to countries where Dominica had visa free travel to. None of the other CBI programs in the Caribbean did this.
this video inspired me to follow your foot steps. Hopefully I can move to Caribbeans soon.

True, although if you are non resident of the US there may be foreign income exclusion and ways of lowering tax.

Good point. Letting half of your income go to a government that doesn't invest in your future is non sense.
And very soon I will be there in st kitts and Nevis

Just wait. They have already been talking about it in parliament.
Good luck to them enforcing it though.

You would need to consult a tax attorney who can provide a legal opinion on your residency/non-residency of Canada.
Driver's licence proves ties. You need to cancel that. Otherwise, you better be prepared to pay canadian income taxes on your foreign income.
