The last time we got a four star with vague colors (two elements represented), we got Chevreuse (purple and red for electro and pyro). We all know she buffed overloaded which was a reaction for, you guessed it, pyro and electro. I wouldn't be surprised if Sethos is added to buff aggravate/spread. It doesn't need the buff but I wouldn't be suprised.

It would be weird for him to be aggravate chevreuse since the only hint of green on Sethos is his eyes. Would be cool instead that he helps electro crystallize. Could be the first non-anemo Crowd Controller via electromagnetism, so when electro crystallize is triggered, magnetic force pulls nearby enemies towards the point of trigger.

Curveball crack theory: I think some kind of Fischl side-grade is super likely, and he works better than Fischl specifically with Clorinde.
During Sumeru they made pretty much every character not work with Benny, and throughout Fontaine we’ve seen Xingqiu get phased out of double Hydro. I think Fischl is next about the chopping block, something about Clorinde will stop her from working with Fischl, and she’ll need this new guy.
As a theme-y player I would love him as a Desert character to have great synergy with Candace to give her more playability.
But what synergy could they possibly make that is better for Candace?

team is not as good as Dilucs normal team, BUT he also doesn't use Yelan and Furina in that comp! very good because you can use those characters in the other abyss half. the only pain point is the horrendous amounts of ER Xiangling needs to build. but once you have it you can whip it out whenever
From the new event showcases, they showed the pyro regisvine with what looked like a net over it. Possibility testing it out to have Sethos as an electro CCer? Keep enemies in place, possibly short stun on top. Could also synergize well with Chevreuse teams if it makes enemies not be thrown around by overload.

My guess is Electro Shielder:
Not yet done.
Works with Arlechino, who meshes better from Shielders over Healers.
Works with Cyno as a substitute for Baizhu, so that Nahida can be your Dendro applier.
Teams with Chlorinde by powering her, as her last rumours have her as an Off-Field applier.
Baizhu doesn't need substituted out of cyno's teams. He enables Furina there.

This might be the first time a new playable character is introduced in a story quest; Kirara, shinobu, Layla, charlotte, etc. all first appeared in event quests which are missable
Wrong. Shinobu is first introduced on Archon Quest. Technically, we have Razor, Xiangling, and Xingqiu who were introduced on their own story quest. But if you're talking about 4 star who first introduced on story quest not their own, there are Sucrose and Rosaria both introduced on Albedo's story quest.
@@Azatora shinobu appears with itto, yanfei and yelan in the Chasm during an event quest where you get the Fading Twilight bow, the same as sucrose and Rosaria with the Dragonspine event quest involving the Festering Desire
those day-one 4* characters had the equivalent of hangout event quests before hangout events were introduced
@@AzureRookThere was an event in the Chasm but the story is actually permanent and new players can still play it, they just don’t get the rewards.
@@AzureRook Then in that case, the first playable character that got introduced to us in a quest before they became playable was Kazuha. We meet him in the Prologue Archon Quest act of Inazuma's chapter. We actually could play that quest before his banner came out (he was phase 2 back in 1.6).
Edit: actually, not even him, it would be Childe, Zhongli, Ganyu, Xiao and Baizhu, because they appeared in Liyue's acts 1 and 2 in 1.0, but only released as playable during 1.1, then 1.2, 1.3 and 3.7.
But if you consider those as day-1 characters just because they appeared as NPCs in 1.0, then it'd be Kazuha as the first one (I'm not considering Cloud Retainer because she didn't show up in her playable form).
@@123leyang321 sethos is (presumably) appearing in Cyno’s story quest, new characters appearing in the main archon quests/event quests has been the norm
I'm so excited for Sethos. His design is really cool, his story is no doubt going to be interesting as it's linked with Cyno's and it'll be great to learn about how they're both linked.
My first thought is since he's coming with the new Cyno story quest, he will either work well with Cyno or (perhaps more likely bc of Hoyo's pattern so far) he'll not work with Cyno in teams etc. - Like how Lyney, Lynette & Freminet don't work well together in a playable team despite having close relationships.
As Sethos seems in the trailer to be set up as potential opposition or equal to Cyno (just for my first impressions, could be totally wrong & mishearing/misinterpreting things), I think it's very likely that Sethos will be a 4 star dps but am not sure whether it would be on field or off field as both could work. I think maybe like an aggravate support is most likely and he may have a shield in his kit.
As it seems like Cyno is up against some challenges in his new story quest, it would make sense storywise if Sethos steps up to protect him in some way, perhaps hinting at/showing the electro shield that could be a part of his kit. It would be a really cool bonding moment.
So my guess is:

Aggravate support
Re weapon....I'm leaning towards polearm because of Cyno. But they might make things different so he could be a bow(/sword) user. I would guess claymore but it may be too similar to Razor (and the electro boys may need some more defining qualities). A bow could be cool since it's one of the more uncommon weapon types for male genshin characters.
(Just going to note that from looking back at weapon types, there are less male characters in a couple of other weapon type categories. So maybe other weapons would be better at filling up categories but I don't know why...but Sethos gives off bow vibes & could be the first male electro bow user.)
I was hoping that Sethos is a Geo unit. Since Sumeru doesn't have one yet.
@@symartin45 Aww yeah that would have been really cool! It would have also worked with the idea of the pyramids etc, like he could have had a cool structure or something geo related. It's a shame. Hopefully in time Hoyo will add more characters like a geo Sumeru character, a dendro Mondstadt character etc to the game. It would be fun to see the variety and the cool design choices they could make.

It would be perfect if he was an electric shielder like Beidou but having some kind of off-field periodic effect like fischl or kuki that isn't tied to normal attacks making him perfect for say... Tighnari 😮
I was hoping for some kind of Dendro Xingqiu, a dedicated support for Cyno to solve his multi waves problem.
A spider grouping character would be awesome, but it'll definitely be a female 5 star character to milk the most out of it as possible.
My guess is that Sethos is a Cyno support. He looks like Cyno's younger brother.
So my guess is definitely what you thought with aggravate/spread support but I'd like to add that maybe he is an electro Baizhu so he would heal or shield or both. If an electro Baizhu, Sethos would also be great for Tighnari i f he also applies electro periodically and shields for Tighnari.
4* electro baizhu is my guess, but would buff aggravate/spread more than Baizhu buffs all dendro reactions.
Actually he looks more like he could be Zhongli's kid... Now that is a scary thought!
if we get a fishl sidegrade, but with longer off-field time, he will probably fit into Neuv and Nav teams as a very solid option.
I actually think he will work well with both Clorinde and Cyno in 4.7. So an electro shielder. Other electro options don’t make sense for him.
i also hope he's an electro off fielder that offers em or spread/aggravate buffs, and i hope he's a bow user so i can slap elegy on him
I would find it rather neat if he functions in a similar manner to Gorou.
Since the name Sethos essentially means “Prince”, and purple is usually associated with royalty, he could be an Electro version of Gorou (kit-wise, not weapon-wise)
Gorou gives Def, Geo Dmg, and Resistance to Interruption.
Sethos could potentially gives ER, Electro Dmg, and Immunity to Electro. (Or at the very least, immunity to the side effects of Electro, i.e. Electro-Charged interrupting you, Overload knocking you back.)
I really enjoyed this type of video, the possibilities of his team comp role was so fun to hear you theorize (especially that crowd control idea, I love it!). I'd love to see you do this for future characters if any of them pique your interest!

That or buffing any/all Elemental reactions Electro is a part of. We do need a good 4 star electro shielder, especially for people that like HyperBloom.

I think we can phase away from saying designs scream 4 or 5*. People said Chiori looked like a 4* and when considering her "relevance to the story" fully expected her to be one.
I'm sad we are not getting a sand user I mean geo Sumeru character.
I completely expect he will either perfectly synergize with Cyno because lore/backstory implies they have some connection or maybe both of them could handle the power of Hermanubis, or they are both dps and he cannot work with Cyno at all, so they're literally at odds. Considering how much they hyped up Cyno I don't think they'll want direct competition for him, so I expect they'll work together. Perhaps someone like Faruzan where she was wanderer's best support but then also Xiao's; maybe he will work great with Clorinde but also with Cyno. We also have to consider current and new artifact sets to see if they give a hint about best playstyle.
Side note but some jp fandom has noticed his hair is floofy like Cyrus appears to be in the diary from Kaveh's mom. So perhaps this is his son
Before I watch all the way imma say his kit will surround either overload for Chevreuse teams, I think it could be the prototype for Clorinde's kit. So maybe an overload onfield 4 star.
If not then a specialized Electrocharge support, something like Nilou or Chevreuse. Enhanced elecrocharged reactions, maybe even increase the upper limit of the number of times electro charge bouncing from enemy to enemy while also increasing its base damage.
Thats my guess.
Maybe skill cooldown reduction support (side grade to Raiden's c6), only take effect to on field character. Compensate Cyno's long downtime after burst (reduce on field time from 18s to 10s per rotation)

@@firby7341 Why not? Kuki and Dori both single target healers, it would be interesting if we had a team-wide healer with some type of buffing or off-field damage. Espeically when Kuki and Dori base line do no damage outside of hyperbloom. A more talent damage focused team-wide healer electro sounds like a logical choice because it would fill a niche.

I think we need more kuki. Yes fischl, yae, and raiden work for hyperbloom but not as much as kuki. Just another off field aoe electro applicator that we can stack em without missing out a lot on his kit
non anemo CC is something I’ve been waiting for a looong time.
I feel like there is actually a chance cause of chevreuse overload teams to compensate the throwback
what i wanna see is 1 of 2 things
1- mono electro buffer cause that team almost never sees any play whereas all the other monos see some good play generally(the way this would work is that he's a shielder/healer and gives more buffs depending on how many electro units are in the team including him,similar to like a C4 gorou,kinda unlikely but i wanna see it)
2- a spread buffer and off field dps that functions well with the reaction(cause character like fischl and yae work but they're not like PERFECT for the role and have little/awkward uptime so if sethos buffs the reaction while also having good synergy and damage and maybe long field time for alhaitham that would be a pretty cool thing,although it might be OP so i think that'll be locked behind cons if that happens)(and i dont think an aggrevate buffer would work cause its hard to slot him in i think)
I will guess based on this video:
Skill- Shield. When character is shielded, obtain aggravate/spread buff
Ult- Some sort of crowd control.
Passives- similar to Chev, get buffs based on amount of Dendro/electro characters in the party.
Just make him chevy but for aggrevate/spread then he's perfect 👌
I think an Electro off-field Electro Applicator crowd control kit would be possible because of Chevreuse. Maybe 'magnet' themed? so when an Electro attack hits an opponent it gets pulled towards you? and if his Electro application works like Raiden's (coordinated hit based) it could enable units like Yanfei, Klee, Diluc, Lyney, Razor, Raiden and to a certain extent Yoimiya to be played MUCH more comfortably in a Chevreuse Overload comp.
I think it would be pretty possible imo.

Why does it have to be a buffer and not a debuffer? We have resistance shred before, and with arlechinno we have more dots.
Excited for clorinde! Her character release is like al haitham which was later in every country patch so it tells me shes probably gonna be a strong character like how al haitham was released. Although i could be wrong.
I would love a dedicated spread or aggravate buffer. My keqing aggravate team definitely feels like it's falling behind now, like it's still really fun to use (fischl, baizhu, sucrose) but it's not a guaranteed 36 star team for me compared to other teams.

I have two predictions. First prediction is he’s going to go the route of on field main dps with strong single target potential and his gimmick will be mono electro playstyle. Lately they have been doing a lot of 4* decent main dps options with units like Gaming and Freminet, I feel like they want to get a decent f2p electro option out there, not bis but good enough. The second prediction would be some sort of dedicated support for cyno since they’re related in the story, but it could also turn out how kaveh and alhaitham don’t really have synergy. Usually they don’t retrospectively crank out 4* supports that are bis for units. Like the last one that comes to my mind is faruzan who works with xiao, but she’s a dedicated wanderer support. Unless he is going to be a good option for clorinde (which we don’t know if her kit will be anything like cyno’s) I don’t see sethos being a cyno support.

I'd kill for him to be that electro shielder/superconduct buffer. I just dont see him being that, unfortunately.
Sethos is probably an Aggravate support that will change a bit to how it originally functions similar to Nilou with bloom or just a general buff to the reaction.
My guess, it would be everytime Aggravate reaction occurs, increase EM based on a percentage of HP from Sethos that lasts 3 seconds and can be refreshed as a passive.
Then give him a skill that procs on normal attack of active character and a burst that pulls and then deals damage.

Thinking he'll be the Chiori equivalent to Electro Charged. Like say maybe he creates a field where enemies who have an electro charge aura also suffer from a Defense Shred.
It would make the most sense for them to make him an electro shielder after Arlecchino because if you have her and you ended up spending money on her banner, if Sethos is on the next banner who directly supports her, you are essentially forced to pull and spend more money on that banner as well.
About the spider CC concept, it's actually already the only non anemo (small) CC we have with Yelan Skill.

I'm thinking because he's fighting cyno (who bursts into claw/melee use) in a scene, or will be, he'll be a 4 star ELECTRO catalyst puncher. (like heizou,wriothsley) he may have a shield formation at a constellation.
What the game needs the most out of an electro 4 star right now is likely a physical off field buffer (so that a core of physical DPS, Mika, and this guy can at least do the damage of a bad Hyperbloom team).
…but I’m thinking Electrocharge support with either defensive utility or battery utility.
Since alot of physical carries are Cryo (sorry Razor) I hope he's off field physical dps that does a little electro just to proc superconduct for Eula and Freminet, that would be so cool!

my prediction
Electro claymore user with strong shield and bad application. First cosnt fix his design flaws. On higher const his application increase but his dmg is still bad.
He can be used in Cyno/Nahida/Baizhu teams or Alhaitham teams
If Clorinde ends up being an off-field utility then the 4 star on-field dps is likely to pair her with to increase a support unit banner. Basically Cyno's 4 star variant like Kaveh is to Alhaitham. The dream would be an electro Faruzan but at least we're getting 2 new electro's. I'm still waiting for that Chevreuse team to manifest.

i actually tough of a geo character from sumeru dessert could play with sand rather than rocks and maybe create a quicksand that crow controls and does damage over time, either sethos or mummy girl could have this as an option but knowing the state of geo its highly unlikely, it will most likely be 4 star geo dps wich we dont have or a niche healer or sub dps

If Sethos is a 4 star and Chlorine is a 5 star, Chlorine and Cyno can run together with Setho being the new 4 star on both banners like how Gaming ran with CR and Kazuha. I think he maybe a electro buffer like Gorou or a dedicated 4 star healer. They can have him scale on ER and allow him to make mono-electro viable maybe. That seems to be the trend here the last couple of patches. CR made plunge teams more viable, Chiori gave additional options for mono Geo teams. I think they are just filling gaps in the current roster. If they have an electro shielder, It will likely be a 5 star. Maybe a 5-star Chlorine could be a Main DPS/ Shielder with ER scaling and a bond of life mechanic. I can see a scenario where Chlorine builds bond of life while on field and then consumes the bond with a burst shield that does DPS OT based on the consumed Bond of Life.
Also electro is the only element that don't have character with taunt

My bet is that he might be a bond of life character, or specifically a geo/electro support, similar to Gorou... which would be admittedly quite odd, seeing as how there haven't been any geo characters from sumeru, despite how vast the desert is. He could even be something like an Electro Thoma, giving attack-based waves of electro on top of a shield.
The most far-fetched theory I have, though, is that he'll be a bow user that has mild grouping on his skill and charged attacks, similar to Faruzan, along with a similar burst to Chevreuse and talents that buff dendro/electro reactions. I doubt he'll be super useful for hyperbloom considering Kuki exists, but who knows?
We are also lacking any form of electro healing that affects the entire party, both Kuki and Dori are single-target healers, so perhaps he fills that niche, too.
But he could always just be another DPS, which I'm not super complaining about. It's about time we got another male on-field electro carry... but I am going to be slapping my forehead so hard if he turns out to be our third dog-themed one.
I really hope that he will be some sort of c6 sub dps buffer for cyno like faruzan for xiao/wanderer

If Clorinde *also* wanted a shielder, and he also provided some electro buffs (even as a secondary role), then him being on her banner could still track...
I'll say he's an electro shielder and the shield provides damage in some way, in either application or a buff. I will say he will likely give EM or lesser ATK%. But I think EM. It allows him to be a buffer for Quicken, Electrocharge, and Overload. I say he will buff it all.
Wishful thinking; Electro infusion and Electro DMG buff/Shred. Possibly a Dendro/Electro shred.
Possibly; Teamwide healer, but I think unlikely. Or at least not big on that. Could have Chevreuse level healing.
Lifestyle talent will be something dumb we already have :) I'm taking a 9/10 shot with this, haha.
Hyper wish manifesting; He buffs burst damage or damage [of the active character] after bursting. This will support Raiden, Cyno, and Eula. And would allow me to replace my Raiden on my Eula team.
Beidou is an Electro shielder at C4.
A lot of people think he could be a Cyno support but I hope not because the support Cyno needs isn't electro. In his premium team/archetype (quickbloom) he's the only electro otherwise his blooms get stolen. He doesn't need a battery since he can do it himself just fine. Anything that would upgrade his best team atm would be either dendro (app that's aoe/doesn't need the char to swap in to reapply) or hydro (more app for more blooms). I just can't imagine what a 4 star power budget could do that would outdo his current options, making Sethos DOA. A general quicken support might be good for budget Cyno teams but also give him a niche outside of that, though.
Watch them release Rana before Clorinde. I was expecting her from the moment i saw her on screen and I've heard Mikasa's VA

I want an electro charge buffer I really like the reactions burning and elecharge but the dmg they give is just so weak compared to the others, so I hope clorinde is a buffer for elecharge (I am not hoping for a burning buffer in this Fontaine Arc but I do hope in the NATLAN ARC we do cus c'mon ITS BURNING, THE NATION OF PYRO IS NEXT so why not?!)
I hope Sethos will be a support for Cyno, their connection, similar colorscheme and same element are just too many similarities and a shielder would be fun

hoyo could always switch up and do smth weird, but im hoping clorinde is a proper electro on fielder (preferably one with a focus on aggravate) electro lacks a strong on field presence typically, and raidens field time is too short to completely fill the role of onfield carry? keqing herself is just old and has low damage values in her kit, cyno has problems with his field time being wayyyy too long and not effectively synergizing with other units like yae miko and fischl for aggravate.
Why there was no focus on him possibly being tailor made Cyno support? xD He is in his story quest afterall! Could be a Gorou but fo Cyno

Funny story: recently I've leveled up Lisa. I pulled c2 Nahida and wanted to play spread-aggravate rather than my usual Kuki hyperbloom. I already had Fishl leveled and choose Lisa a second off-field electro. I though "Well, I don't like other existing and announced electros and there probably won't be new ones any time soon. Lisa isn't great, but I can give her a good Emblem, a Lost prayer book and c2 Nahida, so it will be fine". IF Sethos is an off-field dps, he will be DEFINITELY better that Lisa for aggravate. And I'll need clown makeup then 🤡 But maybe I already need one hahah 😂
Lisa has both on and off field playstyles and is one of the only characters who has a DEF debuff (others being C4 Razor and Zhongli), so I don’t know why you’re worried.
Also if this new guy has a shield or defence support like Jello is suspecting, it would make Lisa work even better because on field Lisa almost always gets hit trying to charge up her hold skill.

Something tells me hes just going to be another claymore user. They LOVE making 4 star claymore users for some reason (there are 10 4 star claymore users while other weapons just have around 7).
But he could also be polearm because there is no 4 star electro polearm user and if we go by his name, based in the pharaoh Seti (or Sethos in greek) which means "of Set" and Set is an Egyptian god who is depicted with some kind of polearm... idk could be a possibility. This is just my esoteric speculation lol
Watch him be electro "shielder" (except it's Bond of Life lmao)
