This girl is alive only through sheer luck because the last thing I would call their operation is organized or impressive. She isn't alive because of the police but in spite of. It's astonishing how many major mistakes were made and that she survived the ordeal instead of the grim outcome she was headed for. Hopefully they learned from it and didn't make the same ones on the next case.

Their equipment was running off the car battery which killed it causin gthem to miss the call. Then they only waited two hours before giving up which lead to a very dangerous high speed chase and gun battle, which the girl was in the middle of. This operation was a total mess. Only reason that girl is alive is because the kidnappers clearly had no intention of harming her, otherwise she'd have had a gun to her head during the stand-off, not left in a car with another girl while they tried to escape. No idea why everyone's saying well done.

not sure I am watching the same thing others are. this was an FBI shitshow. Amy was lucky to survive caught in the middle of a gun battle between her kidnappers and the unprepared FBI. Amy's father knew the best thing was to stay put and wait, what did the FBI need to do so important that they couldn't wait until morning before pulling out of the gas station where the kidnappers knew the father and the money was? plus they didn't have any containment of the surrounding area as shown by the fact the kidnappers were able to just drive off. common sense tells you just stay in place and wait until daylight to see if they show up or call back. remember this was not the kidnappers final drop they had planned to have them move again no telling from how far away the kidnappers had to come once the father's car broke down and changed everything they had planned.

This is a TV Show they'll be alot of, edit cuts, fake events for you're eyes. There is also some fake laws said like if they go back to the money they'll be arrest again. All this is to push an agenda and stop the viewer from getting idea's. Reality alot of the things is covered up for they're own personal flaw reasons they don't want or liked exposed. On BOTH side's. The thing about TV shows is exactly that. Even a documentary program is nothing more then an "Program" Some edits and fake events. Just the BBC alone the British is always on America T.V History Channel because "They've got a smart English Accent" Going on about WWII events and know everything about Hitler and operations and numbers and stockpiles. But, why didn't they know this in WWII? and Why Always British Accent spokesmen? Question Everything. But even if you do, there is always someone out there who speaks as they've been at the frontline themselves and it's same experience for him/her as for everyone else. If that was the case, privacy wouldn't exist and cover ups.

Calling it off in the night was obviously the wrong decision. Of course the kidnappers were going to show up. Whoever made that call should have been fired. What could have been a straight drop followed by an easy arrest, became a firefight that put lives at risk, probably because the boss just wanted to call it a night so he could get a donut. FBI got lucky that the two rangers spotted the vehicle and the aircraft was able to tail it.

Just like the FBI to call things off because it was past their bed time. And to set up their command post at a gas station down the road. When they had no idea from which direction the kidnappers were coming from. This was successful by luck and the kidnapers running out of gas and having the luxury of dumb kidnapers.

What are people talking about congratulating the police on a job well done. They ran their equipment off the car's battery and killed it causing them to miss the call, then gave up after just two hours of waiting for the switch. Then they made it plain to the kidnappers the area was crawling with police leading to the girl being involved in a very dangerous high speed chase and gunfight. She's only alive because the kidnappers clearly weren't going to kill her, the police's bungling put her in great danger. I appreciate how difficult this kind of thing must be, but I would hope they learned lessons from this on how not to handle this kind of thing in future. They should be saluted for putting themselves in danger to rescue the girl, but this operation was a mess.

They messed up big time on that kidnapping, even those Police radios used a lot of juice out of the battery alone, wasn't common for cars to breakdown in 1985 they put too much equipment on the car for the alternator to keep up especially at night and winter too.

So many people don't understand that people who are millionaires or very wealthy do not keep cash that is no people who are bad with money keep cash you see a lot of famous people flash their money spend it and don't invest it become broke cash is dirty cash doesn't make more money so it's hard for somebody to come up with a large amount of money quickly when you go to a bank you actually have to order the money when I need a large amount of cash I have to call the bank a few days in advance I'll let them know I'm coming in to grab a substantial amount of cash and they have to order it for me
