    I recently got a Stages Bike SB20 that my wife and I share, I got an extra seatpost and saddle as we use different saddles, so it is really simple to just swap the seat post, adjust to our settings and boom, we are riding in under 2 mins. Absolutely love it.

    I bought a Tacx Neo Bike earlier this year as I also was tired of the faff. One big thing was I got on it one time and forgot to turn it on at the power socket, used the laptop (which was already on) and didn't notice until I had finished. Yes, turning the pedals powered the smart bike, smart resistance and connection to Zwift. I was amazed. Bottom line, not sure I would recommend it as I am worried about longevity, but so far its great and I am glad I can just get on and ride it, plus the advantage of these types of trainers is you can play around with your position a lot as they are adjustable everywhere. You can also stick TT bars on there. 2nd best thing I bought was mobile AirCon, for the turbo obviously lol

    I always do a quick wipe down of all my bikes like that, simple and quick. I even take a dampened rag and wipe down my road bike tires and feel for the rag to hang up/snag which indicates a possible puncture ie: thorn, glass, wire etc stuck in the tread

    Had a Gen1 Wattbike for 2 years & loved it, my time spent on Zwift justified upgrading to the Kickr Bike. Feels amazing, silky smooth & ERG mode is far superior to others I've tried. Steering & gradient tilt is bit of a novelty after a few months, but would say its worth the money & will make training great over the winter 👍

    I've almost pulled the trigger on a Wahoo Kickr bike a few times. I'm looking at a reconditioned model from Wahoo. It has a full warranty. If you catch a reconditioned model on sale - it saves around US$600 versus the new ones. Not sure if they are available in the UK though.

    Just bought a quadlock, use on the commuter bike. I do have another quad lock mount for a road bike - problem - seemingly impossible to fit when you run TT bars.

    • @KatieKookaburra
      @KatieKookaburra  3 роки тому +1

      Surely there’s a way…. Could you mount it to the base of the bar?

    • @BikepackingAdventures
      @BikepackingAdventures 3 роки тому

      @@KatieKookaburra I've tried to use the stem mount and I couldn't turn the phone enough to get it to easily release - I could possibly move the TT bars further apart.
      Other idea was to position the quad lock outmount directly on the TT bars themselves. Problem with that as much as I tried I couldn't get the right position to use the aero bar at the time as having phone in the quad lock. Back to the drawing board must be a solution haha

    I don’t recommend Wattbike atom if you regularly use erg mode. I find it struggles to match power evenly and typically surges way over target which is not helpful on threshold or especially VO2 intervals. It’s ok for zwift races although I would probably prefer gear shifters like the kckr bike which are more like a road bike.

    That phone mount takes up a lot of prime handlebar space. A mount on the stem allows that center part to be useful again if the phone is turned 90 degrees. If you have knee clearance, you're golden! Since the phone is in line with the slipstream of the bars, you're aero too! A bit techy, but I'll take any advantage I can find. Great video as always!

    • @KatieKookaburra
      @KatieKookaburra  3 роки тому

      Most people use it on the stem, but I’ve got t- Rex arms so my stem isn’t long enough 🤣🤣 so the handbag it goes. Also they do come with out front mounts like you get with a Garmin / Wahoo :)

    Katie, Just a thought / question . When you do a long ride and don't finish where you started how do you get yourself back the trains are awkward , being met by friends /family is a bit of a burden , so how do you get back???? I was looking at the way of the roses 170 miles , should be able to do that in a long day but i am going to be on the wrong side of the country tired etc ,, could stay in accommodation , bike friendly accom is a bit scarce and even if i do find it the next day the only thing thats changed is I am not worn out .... I think theres an episode there

    I couldn't get out on my bike this morning so I used the turbo in the garage for the first time this autumn. I'm very happy with using a bike I've had for over 26 years and I wouldn't use it to ride outside any more, I've just fitted it with a garmin speed sensor and cadence sensor and I'm happy with that. I get a good workout and is good enough for those days when the open roads are out of the question.

    For Zwift - KICKR. I spent most of lockdown on one. Including a 107 mile charity bike ride. It's just like riding a bike 🙂 I thought the tilt would be a novelty but hooked into Zwift it's great. You stand up out of the saddle naturally just like you would outside.

    Good question about the indoor training bike - I have a Wahoo Kickr Snap but looking at buying a 'real' indoor trainer. From what I can see none of them have the ability to rock from side to side, something I'd really like to have (giving the sprints that extra boost). Guess the solution would be to get a trainer and a rocking plate. And then get a bigger flat bc those rocking plates are kinda massive.

    Hiya Katie I’ve used Wattbike Atom since the start of lockdown and it’s been great! Absolutely love it! Wattbike couldn’t get me a new one in time so I struck lucky and got a nearly new one from eBay plus it meant I saved a few quid too! Win win! I got it for the same reasons that you’re looking to get a training bike plus I’m now, and very luckily, living in the french alps so definitely comes in handy in winter!!! I see you’re from my original neck of the woods as I was born in Chadderton! Best…..Phil 😃 x

    seems like forever to recover.
    Pool therapy may be helpful ( physical therapists usually have offices at gym pool locations). Helps with getting back to a healthy baseline and more importantly mental health ( sessions usually in a group , exchanging ideas , stories and strategies for a healthy recovery.
