    Hi Barnesy great job. I added autometer gauges to my panel van with 3d printed parts from Ben in Gippsland but instead of a clock I fitted a high beam, left and right turn and alt warning light, I discovered you need the alt warning light to excite the alternator.

    Well done Barnesy, the series is great. I’m doing a Wb Ute and you are providing plenty of motivation. Where did you get the metal burnishing wheel that you were using in the first few episodes? Looks a lot better than using an angle grinder with a stripping
    disc. Keep up the good work and look forward to end result. Loved the paddock circle work in the first few episodes.👍

    • @BarnesysBuilds
      @BarnesysBuilds  11 місяців тому

      Thanks mate, it's a the long haul series that's for sure! Hope to finish it this year though. The burnishing machine can be grabbed from eBay now, it's great for prepping metal for paint and removing surface rust etc. or paint. Although years later I would now just get a car hot dipped or sand blasted if you can afford it, way faster and less hassle. If not then paint strip then burnish the remaining. Yeah used to get the ute out in a few B&S balls back in the day! Cheers

    Hi Aaron,
    I was looking at 3D printing up a reproduction tail light bracket, then I had the thought of why put globes in it. So am looking for a 75mm x 75mm LED panel i can mount behind the standard lens. Still a work in progress.

    • @BarnesysBuilds
      @BarnesysBuilds  11 місяців тому

      That sounds like a good work around for the globes. Would be interested to see how it turns out. Yeah the tail light housings are on the list to just do stock reproduction though. It's a big part as you know so need a hefty size printer or go vertical but lot of supports to print

    • @jefftheaussie2225
      @jefftheaussie2225 11 місяців тому

      @@BarnesysBuildsThat tail light mount would be a good thing. Mine are brittle and not much is holding the lenses in. You can get the lense but not the bucket. I managed to get 4 new old stock lenses years ago when Holden still had dealers with stock. Good work with the gauges Barnesy, can you pick the ‘icons’ on the cluster out in white? I have a spare cluster mount with the same lug broken off. I am having trouble with my temp gauge, it has been done up but won’t go right up to temp. The repairer got my oil gauge working but made the temp gauge worse. I have replaced the sender and have another gauge which registers the same which would lead you to believe it is in the wiring somewhere. Maybe the earth. What you are doing there is gold, no other manufacturer ever came up with a dash that looked as good as the Holden Sports Dash. Jeff

    I bet you learned how to "Level the fskin bed" and where is that damned draught coming from warping the print ?
    Yeah I noticed you have an enclosure. I had to use Cardboard Aided Design to make an enclosure for my Chiron (400 x 400) and pump the bed heat up crazy high when using ABS. When I did finally get a decent print it smashed the glass on the cool down ! (70 hour print).
    You made using the scanning app look easy too but it really isn't.
    I use FreeCAD on Linux (Ubuntu).
    You done a great job though dude.
    The gauges look well Pukka.

    • @BarnesysBuilds
      @BarnesysBuilds  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks mate, yes there was hours and hours of trial and error not included in that time lapse, it was a really steep learning curve and lots of parts from china as I went along to get the machines dialled. Now they are dialled and working well but yes ABS is very challenging at the start, now I have the techniques sorted and have a filament I'm satisfied with I can print really confidently. Looking forward to seeing where this tech goes in the future.
