Hoi! I'm Sanne. Nine years ago I moved from the Netherlands to London, where I'm currently working as a freelance social media producer in the publishing industry, event host and content creator. I've been making videos for 12 years and on my channel I talk about books, translation, the publishing industry, London, travel, plus career and creativity advice. ◦ Where is your accent from?
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, studied English Lit at Leiden University (also in the Netherlands), studied in the US for 3 months and have lots of American friends. Now that I live in London, I still mostly have my American accent, but with lots of British vocab mixed in.

I currently live in North London.
◦ Where do you work?
I’m a Freelance Social Media Producer, public speaker and UA-camr/blogger. Before that I was an Audience Manager at Penguin Random House UK.
◦ How did you get your job in the publishing industry?
I did publishing work experience on 3 different occasions, did a lot of networking and learned everything I know about social media from creating and running my UA-cam channel for 8 years. P.s. you don't necessarily have to study Publishing or English to get a job in publishing.
◦ What kind of brands are you interested in collaborating with?
I’m especially keen to work with brands that focus on books, films, travel (mainly Europe and UK), London, museums and the arts, education and sustainable lifestyle.

I can currently only accept a small number of books for review and I don't accept self-published books. I enjoy reading classics, dystopian/apocalyptic novels, historical fiction, sci-fi and a variety of graphic novels, YA and contemporary literary fiction. Any questions? Me and my 10 currently reading titles feel very seen right now 😂
I also used to have so many books on the go at once but I just ended up never finishing anything so cleared my backlog during lockdown! I've been meaning to read Anna Karenina for SO long and never have - maybe one day! x
I end up doing this so often and it then takes me forever to finish anything! 😂
When someone asks me: "What book are you currently reading?", this video could be my answer. Thank you for putting into words how my 'reading brain' works, if that makes sense.

I thought Matrix was really interesting & had mixed feelings about it - because of the things about the writing style that you described.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does this 😆 I have so many books on my "currently reading" shelves that I was loving and then put down in favor of something else that caught my attention. It especially happens when I read longer books! Now trying to focus my efforts on finishing The Goldfinch... but I also started reading Six of Crows last week 😅 It's a wonder that I ever finish anything.
I'm the same! Right now my halfway count is a ridiculous 7. I'm hoping to focus more now that it's lighter out and finally finish a few.

Yeah, i get restless too when Im reading but i have in mind other books I want to check.
I get it completely… the past two years, I finished 10% of the books I have started. I start, I am too busy for a while, start 2-3 other books, and then I am too lazy to start again the book, because I forgot…
And the pile on books on my bedside table is very too big and my Goodreads has a huge list of books ‘currently reading’…
I don’t know what it is and how to solve it
I end up putting myself in a similar predicament quite often. I don't mind it, though. Sometimes such a long time passes that I've forgotten what happened in the book, though. 😅
