    This is the best video for building a curb on slab I have found. No 2*4 curb B's, just nice solid concrete. I also really like how you dealt with the walls

    Fantastic curb except its wider in the middle than it is on the ends. You should have put supports from the walls to the center of the curb to keep it from blowing out. Other than that fantastic

    you didn't explain how you did the slope? and do you still need an adhesive if you use an angle grinder to rough up the concrete to help it bond?

    • @josephk9182

      It is not clear which slope you are asking for. Is it the slope curb or the shower ? No I did not need to use grinder to rough the concreate.

      @@josephk9182 the slope for the curb, did you cut the outer form higher than the inside form? and what wood did you use? 1x6? your other videos you kind of go above and beyond like waterproofing the mud bed before the bedliner which I dont see anyone do, but for the curb you didnt do anything special besides the adhesive? I bought the adhesive, but I am wondering if I should add a rebar or two? or is that not needed? I am about to do this curb this week, I really appreciate you replying. Thanks for the videos, not that many on youtube when it comes to these concrete curbs.

    Joseph, really great stuff -- exactly I have been looking for because I don't like wood-based curb. Instead of all concrete, can I stack two layers of bricks before pouring in the cement mix to make the process easier for a novice? Thanks!

    • @josephk9182
      @josephk9182  4 роки тому +2

      You can but I am wondering how can it make the process easy ? You first must make sure that the bricks are attached to the floor with a proper mortar before pouring the cement mix.

    • @happyday2678
      @happyday2678 4 роки тому

      Joseph K thanks for replying. It’s because I wanted to save the work of making large amount of mortar. I imagine I can copy your molding method by layering some mortar to form a base then put in some bricks to occupy the volume and finally filling the rest of the space with mortar. In effect, sealing the bricks inside concrete/mortar.

    Hi. What's the point of using bricks at the curb when the surrounding of the shower is wood.im rally confused .

    • @josephk9182
      @josephk9182  5 років тому +1

      I am not using brick. I am using concrete which will never rotten or break like a wood cub. My shower is on concrete floor. The only wood you see is the studs.

    • @hockeyman1
      @hockeyman1 5 років тому +1

      @@josephk9182 I see but your studs are sitting on wood . Won't it rot one day ? Last question for you can you post a link for what kind of thinset you using
      Thank you very much.

    • @josephk9182
      @josephk9182  5 років тому +2

      The studs will not rot because they are protected by the liner. Most shower failed because of the curb failed as a result of water penetrate to the curb. Basically you have to put on the wood curb backer boards and screw it to the board this will eventually result water perpetration into the curb wood destroy the wood. The second reason it is less expensive, robust and less work to waterproof it. To build the curb I am not using thinset I am using concert.Thinset you use to install tiles. Please verify what you need. Thank You.

      Yes if the floor is concrete (This is the way to do it properly). In case of plywood floor you should take other approach, but you still better off using concrete to build the curb.
