Omg.... I had to stop watching to say this:
You are beautiful. You are real. You are human. I did not subscribe because you have perfect cheekbones, or manage to paint only on canvas and not yourself...or because you are graceful and perfect.
We all have these frustrating, off feeling, maddening days...it colors all we do and produce.
I subscribed because you are real and I feel you have something to say.
Thank you for posting even though it was uncomfortable, we appreciate that you are sharing your reality-because we surely relate with it!

haha don't worry I'm not always like this.....I only posted this as i was asked to by another subscriber. When I'm not in great painting mood and Im asked to do a voice over on a video that didn't turn out as I hoped, it's gonna be critical and beyond. That's the reality of what goes on behind the scenes on a bad painting day 😂😂😂 everything becomes annoying and frustrating. I thank you for your continued support!

You are certainly not alone. It is so refreshing to hear you explaining what so many of us feel from time to time. Painting and horses. Yike. I have had lots of falls from lots of horses and my knees and back have suffered. This kind of painting is very physical so that may have been part of what hampered you that day. Anyway. I have enjoyed watching this. thank you. The painting has far more energy than you were feeling. Brilliant.

yes the fall most likely impacted me on this day but there are several days where I haven't fallen and still get in my head and can't find my way through.

@@lorimirabelliabstractartist there is probably a shift going on in you, a change. Maybe your work is trying to push you into past your comfort zone. Annoying I know but necessary sometimes don't you think? Otherwise we wouldn't develop.

LOVE this!!! This was the most amazing demonstration of artistic genius! It meant a lot to me to hear your insight and process! I sure hope you recovered from your fall! I have been in a similar process and relate to what is happening as you paint. I love your work and I love your vulnerability! You gave me a big piece of hope today, so thank you for talking about this in such depth-“I wrecked the painting”-I’ve had that thought hundreds of times! I think you’re right on!❤

You’re a treasure. Thank you for sharing with us your true feelings, thoughts, and emotions as you physically take us through your process of painting really interesting works. Showing the vulnerability is relatable. We don’t all have great painting days (and even your bad days are still really good) yet we stay in the game because we love it. Sometimes the piece that isn’t working becomes at a later date the gem of the collection. I, too, work on multiple canvases not just for trying time but to revisit with fresh eyes. Overworking can be such a drag but I feel like we do that because there is that chance that something is going to happen that works. It’s all part and parcel of creativity. I’m so glad there’s someone out here on UA-cam keeping it real. You’re fabulous. Thank you ❤

I am so glad I found you on here! Your thoughts are SO similar to mine when I’m working! I love color and I can see in my imagination where these pieces would be beautiful in someone’s home or office! I just need to find the right audience and learn how to post on social media platforms and find the right sites. I’m 63 and just quit my job to become a full time artist. I have a small wall in a very popular vintage shop in my town. I’m 2 months into it and my rent has been paid so far by odds and ends sales. (They suggested to have other items as ‘fluff’) I’ve only sold 2 paintings but I’m hoping Christmas traffic will boost some art sales. Anyway, I think you are my kindred spirit! Thanks for the encouragement and honesty!

Lori! It is so good to see you back on UA-cam and had to catch up. Your absolutely right about the process and the emotional journey you go through on just one painting. Sure their are good things that happen in a painting, but their are even more bad things, mistakes, and most of all emotions that I go through. I love to paint but each painting I do can be emotionally draining and at times suck the creativity and inspiration right out of me. It feels like WWIII on the canvas and in my mind, but I would have it no other way as every painting and every brush stroke has a story of an incredible journey to a finished painting. Might take a peek on Instagram for you, missed your video's good your back.

Love that you’re saying what you’re feeling. Can you imagine if other artists over the centuries could tell us what they were thinking as they painted…… Poor Vincent … could have been thinking about starry starry night like this MERDE ! Too many blasted stars …… I hate them. I think I’ll cut my ear off 😱

Thanks for this video. Good to be reminded, again and again, that struggle and making mistakes is actually a necessary and valuable part of an endlessly developing creative process, just as it is a vital and meaningful part of an evolving life. I love your work. Even if you think it looks like maps, lol.

Oh how I can relate! My cheap easel broke yesterday while painting, knocking a bottle of gesso everywhere... Your easel looks nice and sturdy, can I ask what brand it is and where you got it? Thanks!

Not alone-somedays I start something & it's totally blah-other times I think I'm done only to paint over the whole thing with gesso & start new. But then there are the days when everything comes together with no regard of what I'm doing. Hills & Valleys as my friend has told me.

Dear Lori, what a great video. I’m from Germany and recently started painting and you are a great inspiration. What I’d like to know, when you work on a painting with multiple layers, don’t you have to let dry the layer underneath first? I’m a bit confused because your colors don’t seem to smear/mix? Thank you so much

I had exactly the same kind of day today😂. I’m not painting as much lately because my energy needs to be in another area and I lose everything when I’m away from my studio. I feel as if I’ll never will have another great painting in me.

Lol...I feel your pain. I have a canvas from the last few weeks that I was trying to do an abstract on...and it just wasn't working. Three paintings on it and still not working. I set that canvas aside and started a new canvas painting a pelican. It came together in just a few sittings. Go figure.....lol

I enjoyed watching your creation evolve. Please stop being hard on yourself. If you were commentating this video for someone else, you would never point out their cheek bones, silly girl. As you would commentate for others, you would critique their work in a less critical way, again, silly girl. We watch because we love your art, your style, your love of art. Enjoy it all beautiful fellow Canadian.

Ha ha it’s hard to watch yourself back in videos and comment on them. I’m also the type of person that speaks from the heart so when I’m making a voice over what I what in the moment is raw and real. Hence the critical nature I have about myself. But I was also in an I can paint well mood and that absolutely affects my mood. I’ve always been hard on myself 🤣🤣🤣

I have been painting since 1968 and I can tell you every painting is only one brush stroke away from being a disaster or a masterpiece. I love it when I paint a painting that doesn't work as it becomes the background launching board to create something incredible. The problem I see is too many bits of color with no clear focus. All the colors are the same value. too many drips do not ad interest. You have the beginning of a great painting stop thinking too much on what goes where. Put on your favorite music and listen and enjoy and let the brush paint itself. You have to stop thinking too hard. When you remove the control great things will happen. Start by painting with your other hand. Onward you great artist!

Oh Lori, why oh why are you there when what you are feeling is so angry and disconnected. I know there's a school of thought that says to stick with it and work through it but I don't see the point....unless you have a thing for angst. Why not leave and go indulge yourself in something that excites you and brings you joy or pleasure? Just wondering 🤔
