@@DWtechfanMan, when you think about it, there's actually people outhere that actually thinks any S series from Samsung from S10 to S23 is not a good deal only because it's not the latest flagship, and some even wanna trade a perfectly functional, STRONG as heck, FAST and cool looking smartphone, only because it is not an S24 series phone and because theirs doesn't has the 7 years of android updates (if it's about the security ones, then I can perfectly understand), and some of them even start to think their phone sucks (even if it still has 2, 3, 4 or 5 years of updates, especially security ones); and this can apply to any iPhone, especially if it is a Pro or Pro Max model, or any other past flagships from the past. People trade phones in the time span of 3, 2, 1, heck, even 6 months after already getting a perfectly functional, fast, strong and etc smartphone, only because it's """"""35%"""""" faster than the last flagship (and people eat this yearly "magic number"). It's crazy! I mean, if the phone's not all cracked up (especially if it's not the display and screen) and still works pretty great, AND, the battery is not a problem to you and your routine, then why spend so much money to upgrade phones frequentely when there's barely any improvements??
Straight Talk has a deal where you get the A15 5g for free and all you pay for is the $45 plan. You can unlock it in 2 months too and use it on whatever carrier you want after that. My brother just bought 2 of them for just under $90 and is gonna gift me one for Christmas. I can't wait to try it out.
I think these devices are great, the A1x series is definitely a sweet spot. You'regetting that oneui goodness and a pretty solid device for an excellent price. The A15 is the sweet spot and still has plenty of update duration left. What people overlook is the 4gb of ram. You think because you dont game this wont give you any issues? Wrong. When youre trying to hop between apps to copy that one time passcode its a gamble if the app will still be held in RAM by the time you come back to it or youll have to start all over again.
Hey Steve, I'm liking the new set especially that black cat plush which is cute LOL. I agree that the A15 is fine for stuff people do on phones. The successor A16 LTE & A16 5G does not make sense to me, since the headphone jack got removed while still being pretty much the same as the A15 hardware-wise and a bit more expensive regardless of the bigger screen & longer software updates on the A16 series. I have the A15 LTE and not the 5G one since it was about another 10~15 USD extra compared to the LTE version and 5G reception being crap even outdoors in my country. I have the 8gb/256gb variant of the A15 LTE (w/25w charger) earlier this year for 123 USD. So far 6 months in and I find the A15 is fine for almost everything I do on a phone such as watching videos, reading books, researching documentation online, messaging, and calls. One thing I do frequently that lags from time to time is online shopping apps, but those are bloated and unoptimized that even my S20 FE 5G which I downgraded from chuged on those. That S20 FE 5G had to be retired due to problematic thermals and its original and replacement screens getting the green & white lines and whole screen freakouts. Firstly the nice stuff: 1. Sim + MicroSD card option or Dual sim is great since I use a secondary sim card as a backup ISP. 2. It doesn't get that hot even when used outdoors as a wifi hotspot for hours. Charging can heat it up but not much. 2. Capacitive finger print reader is a hell of a lot reliable than the under display ones (compared to S20 FE 5G, A54, and S22 Ultra to confirm). 3. The plastic build is plenty durable. Hell I've even dropped it without a case down half a flight of stairs and it came down slapping front-back-front-back repeatedly with no visible scratches. 4. Battery wise it lasts a day to a day and a half typically which is about 6~10 hrs screen time at varying brightness. That is very solid considering I tend to use it capped to 80% battery. The stuff with caveats: 1. The screen is pretty decent if slightly yellow-greenish compared to IPS panels, but seems to be pretty common among AMOLED devices. 800 nits can be hard to see on a very bright sunny day at times. 2. Single speaker only setup, but is decently loud. 3. It has a headphone jack, but output power is a bit weak for even 32ohm headphones. The sore spots for me are these things: 1. Camera (significant downgrade from my Galaxy S20 FE 5G in sensor size and no sensor stabilization). 2. Mediatek SoC (a Snapdragon would have allowed for GCam). 3. Existence of 4gb base variant. They could have eliminated it and made the 6gb variant as base as the 4gb models don't perform as well as the 6gb or 8gb ones and I've reviews and people complaining about issues with A15's caused by 4gb ram. Overall, I still use the phone daily. It has been very reliable compared to my previous 2 phones that have hardware issues (Poco X3 Pro and Galaxy S20 FE 5G).
I'm confused. There are A15 with 4gb RAM, some with 6, some with 8... How can you tell the difference? You don't want a 4gb RAM phone for playing Pokemon Go.
My carrier sent me an A-15-5G when they turned off 3G. I am on a plan and I was using an older Oppo phone which lost functionality after the switch off. The Samsung is great so far especially for an older person. I am very impressed. Excellent honest report.
The insurance company replaced my S9 with an S10e last week, and the next day I traded that S10e on Samsung's "5G for All" plan for an A15 5G. It can be a little slow, but I'm 50% on UA-cam and 40% on a word-finding game, and with Chrome, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Bluesky taking up the remaining 10%. I'm currently petless, so rarely use my camera. So this bigger screen and these A15 specs are perfect for me.
Better to get the A15 instead of the A16 because one: barely any difference between the two and two: no 3.5mm jack. 6 years of OS updates? Who cares, what the A15 gives is enough
i have one its very good phone for me i used it as a hotspot device, since i have s21 ultra, Z fold 3 and s24 ultra i have debloated f**kbook and the others crap it's working like a charm for me and i also disable ota update (mine is A15 5G Thailand 8/256GB)
Good video and for that price yeah that's a good phone and probably the only part that keeps me from buying budget phones is the camera that's how they get me but you know everybody has a choices but for that price can't go wrong with that phone
I had this phone as a backup to my Motorola Edge 2023. It's a great phone except for 1 thing. The 4gigs of ram. Having to clear out the stuff in the background 7,8,9,10 times a day is just too much to bother with. Waiting on Black Friday deals on the Pixel 8a & make my Motorola Edge 2023 the backup phone.
First Q: is this A15 5G a 4 g ram or 6 g ?…that makes a big difference in performance. I got a A24 4G 4 GB for a older relative and she hasn’t complained about the phone yet..lol
I'm thinking about replacing my replacement phone the Galaxy A54 5G with either the Galaxy A16 5G or Motorola G 5G 2024 or Motorola G Power 5G 2024 or Motorola G Stylus 5G 2024 or Renewed iphone off amazon renewed either 11 or 12 or 13 or 14 or se. Which should I get for android and which should I get for iphone?
The A16 in 8/256 version shall be very good, specially with support that equals Samsung current S flagships. Put a 256 or 512 GB card and You Will have space forever. No need for more money inversion, specially in those troubled times.
@@preston8872 hello bro. I like Motorolas, but the software support they provide is so little. I own a Moto G Stylus 4g 2022 and software support is over, just one Android version and two of security. Tough sell. Even the A15 which my son purchased with 6GB/128 GB for $128 at Amazon USA is due to four Android upgrades and six of security patches. Since the A16 is new and just released is expensive, try to check the A15 in 5g version with 8/256GB. Not the fastest but good cameras, outstanding AMOLED 1080p 90 hz screen, 3.5 jack, dual sim, microSD support to 1TB, 5000mah battery and 25 watt charging for me is a solid day to day contender from the best manufacturer in Android side. For me is a winner, that version is about 160-180 on eBay right now. I love that phone but have the A14 5G, very good unit no bugs at all but the A15 screen is so superior 😭. Anyway I will squeeze the juice of mine for 3 years more, and see then what's on the market, for 90%+ of daily duties except heavy gaming is solid. Blessings.
Definitely better than you think!
Remember when phones were used to call people, and not just for having the best geek bench score and GPU?
Facts
Exactly. People have gotten crazy over specs when real world use is all that matters.
Call people? What is that?
