Yo did you see how kobe crossed up Manu Ginobli on the baseline, and just rised up and slammed it right on top of Tim Duncan with both hands. That was a sick move, I don't care what no one says, but Kobe is by far one of the best overall athletes in the NBA.
duncan is a better defender for more reasons than just being bigger, but either way, the point stands, he's still a way better defender since his size allows him to impact the game more. and in terms of pure greatness, duncan is in the same category as kobe. he's lead his team to 4 championships.
im a kobe fan...but i wont say anything bad about duncan..one of the nicest players in the nba. doesnt have an overly inflated ego like 90% of the players.
In reality, Duncan was far more lucky than Kobe. Duncan went to an established team that tanked the year before, and was solid from day one. Throughout his entire career thanks to the Spurs management he has had an elite team, Top 10 All Time Center to do the dirty work, best defender of the decade in Bowen, elite PG in Tony Parker, Top 5 Euro pickup in Ginonili, far more fortunate than people think. Kobe was the lucky one? Yes he had Shaq, but who outside the duo was even remotely consistent?
Kobe has no class. Duncan is all class. The big difference between the two is Tim Duncan sets the tone for his team. He is the ultimate leader in all aspects. Their numbers are similar with Kobe getting a slight edge in scoring, steals and assists and Duncan getting the edge in rebounds, blocks and efficiency. However, Tim Duncan has been MVP twice and Kobe once. Also Timmy earned NBA Finals MVP three times. Kobe twice. As far as I am concerned, NBA Finals MVP is a mark of an elite player.
Kobe should've had 2 MVPS, but had a crappy team when Shaq left, look at Duncan, he's always had players like Robinson, Parker, Ginobli, Bowen, Leonard, etc...
Shoulda coulda woulda......facts don't lie. Kobe in his prime was one of the greatest individual palyers in the game. I give him credit for that. However, he was less of a team player or leader than Tim Duncan. Leaders elevate the game of the people around him. The Spurs have made the playoffs every year Duncan has been in the league. Since Duncan has been on the team, the Spurs have won at least 50 games per season. You cannot say that about Kobe in his career.
Duncan -- 1st over-all pick in 1997/Rokie of the year 1998/2-time NBA MVP (2003,2004)/3 time Finals MVP (1999,2003,2005) and above all 4 rings Kobe can't compare! He can't even lead the Fakers last year despite having a deep team!
Haters, will be haters, they will never make sense, and their hatred just grows because they keep/hate loosing arguments on Kobe, because they dont make sense! AT ALL!!!
you cant compare a shooting guard to a power forward. they have diffrent abilities to play. they are both fantastic players. but of course kobe is better because everyone rely's on him to shoot and score. Tim Duncan is awesome too, a great team player and rarley has any bad games. and always scores double digits a game.
@bigreduiw Duncan throughout his entire career has never had rebuilding phases or had to carry a scrub team inbetween title runs. Don't forget Kobe had to carry bums for 3 and a half seasons, can Duncan say the same? He has been blessed with the brilliant Spurs management, and that gets thrown under the radar because of the no big names. I would take the Spurs minus Duncan over the Lakers minus Kobe any given day.
kobe is better, just because he has a more versatile game, but its given that tim duncan is a pf and kobe is a sg so its hard to compare whos better, cause kobe couldnt do things tim could and vice versa
MJ was great but I never thought much of his dunks. Yeah... he had distance in his jumps but nothing like Kobe. Kobe is more original. MJ is the best player EVER until Kobe retires with 7 rings.
@madhazzer Since Kobe has become a full time starter, he is 4-1 against Duncan in the playoffs. He owns them and terrorizes the twin towers. Why can't Duncan even lead his team to back to back Finals, let alone win 2 in a row?
Hmm...I wished you would explain how that is so. Out of 3 games, Spurs won 1, Lakers 2. Lakers favor? Not really when you look at the games. When the both teams had teams had their full roster, the series was 1-1, both very close games. The 3rd game, Bynum and Ginobili were both out, and the Spurs were testing their new Gooden. In short, both teams were very close, but the Spurs now have Gooden added and doing well, and the spurs flat out have more experience. So don't get too cocky.
tim duncan is the BIG FUNDAMENTAL, he and dirk nowitzki are probably the least atheltic players in the league, but they make it up with hard work and basic fundamentals. /:
Robinson - 0 championships as team leader. Duncan - 4 championships as team leader. Kobe - 2 finals wins as team leader. Funny how you try to tell me Duncan can't lead a team.....
look it kobe is better how ppl can say tim is betterthenkobe better shooter more rings and kobe is clutch and to seal the deal kobe is the closest player to be as good as mj
@fannypack311 Tim Duncan has 4 rings (all 4 as the #1 guy on the team, not 1 as a sidekick) 3 finals MVP and 2 regular season MVP's...... with more to come!!!!!!!
damn might as well take tim outta the line-up when kobe comes to town. Is tim not a good defender shot-blocker? He is a center. But centers get dunked on all the time, even mutumbo...
@oldmanwithers1 Dude are you joking? Kobe Bryant is more lucky. Came into the league with the best head coach in the game, a top 5 center, and consistent role players. It would be ashamed if he didn't win a title with those factors. But what about when shaq left-no rings, so they surrounded kobe with a good PF in gasol, and another good and upcoming center in Bynum, plus a 6th man of the year in gasol. Thats pretty lucky. To play for a team in a large market that can attract big name players.
@hemelekkoff ima kobe fan and thats very true.. but those guys have no rings so they dont get a youtube video.. haha but tim duncan is the greatest power forward in history i can respect that...
All these comments about Duncan having the better career, did you even watch the video or pause real quick to come down here? That nigga is lucky Kobe never busted his fingers I mean shit. Duncan was great but quit with the comparisons it’s not even close
You do keep changing the topic. If you bother reading it, you keep bringing something else up, I prove you wrong, and then you try to talk about something else. If Robinson could lead the team, then tell me why he never did win a championship until Duncan got on the team, and instantly made success and was the best player? Duncan got on the team, and they were rated the number 1 dynasty in all of sports. Duncan was the leader, MVP, finals MVP, get over it. Kobe - 2 finals wins as leader.
how does that help support your argument that tim duncan isn't in the same category as kobe? i'm well aware that both players play/played in extremely good organizations that surrounded them with talent and a great coach.
All D-Robinson fans, I'm sorry (not really)...but 0:57 to 1:01 convinces me the more of how soft he played at times. Just look how weak he goes in attempting to block the dunk. More than likely, every player has been dunked on before, but at least go in tough trying to contest the dunk. No hate, just observation....continue.
@ESIR00 Dont be ignorant smh... I'd like to see what you'd say if you were accused of a crime that YOU know you didn't commit... Would you want people to still hold that against you?
@MisSeductive Same can be said for Kobe. He hasn't been good in 3 years. Pau Gasol deserved BOTH of the finals MVPs from the past 2 championships. I can't stand Pau, but he was the best player and Kobe got it because of his name. Duncan's better though cause at least he understands the concept of TEAM basketball
Instead of trying to insult me on my comments, which I always delete anyways, why don't you bother trying to explain how Robinson is a better all around player when his stats are not close to Duncan's and Duncan got the finals MVP?
laker are 2nd in the western confrence so HA and when spurs beat the lakers they didnt have andrew bynum so laker are the best with andre bynum BABY HA.
Kobe didn't own Tim Duncan. He owned the entire Spurs team!
KOBE 2006 year was phenominal
Yo did you see how kobe crossed up Manu Ginobli on the baseline, and just rised up and slammed it right on top of Tim Duncan with both hands. That was a sick move, I don't care what no one says, but Kobe is by far one of the best overall athletes in the NBA.
im a die hard spurs fan and this hurts to watch.. but I gotta admit, kobe was and still is the best basketball player in the world!
I miss that kid that was playing in 2003-04
kobe owns EVERYBODY!!! -24-
Kobe in 01 was droppin back to back 40 pt games in that series that ended in a sweep and shaq said "kobe is the best player
man kobe is the best....... no body can top kobe...
duncan is a better defender for more reasons than just being bigger, but either way, the point stands, he's still a way better defender since his size allows him to impact the game more. and in terms of pure greatness, duncan is in the same category as kobe. he's lead his team to 4 championships.
thats a good point ur probably right
Yeah I remember when the Lakers made all of San Antionio cry with that 0.4 shot to prevent the Spurs from repeating!! remember that??
2pac and kobe
epic win
Too much frikkin Kobe, that alley-oop at the end is the all time!
Kobe is the man.
Imagine Kobe and Duncan on the same team. Holy Duncan donuts that's scary!
im a kobe fan...but i wont say anything bad about duncan..one of the nicest players in the nba. doesnt have an overly inflated ego like 90% of the players.
I officially feel old knowing these two greats are retiring.
0:26 Look how high he jumped here
Get ready for the sequel. Kobe owns Duncan part II in the 2008 WCF
a reverse ferocious dunk ? come on man who's done that ? who !!!!???????
And Kobe has won 2 titles as the top dog on his team.
Classic Tupac song. Its called "intro/bomb first" on his album "Don Killuminati 7 Day theory"
aghhhh that first highlight is fucking nasty damn
Tim had a broken back david Robinson though. but yea Duncan in 2003 is better than any Kobe year.
In reality, Duncan was far more lucky than Kobe. Duncan went to an established team that tanked the year before, and was solid from day one. +D DA Duncan wouldn't have been a team player with smush and Kwame and some of his main passing options. Unless he wanted to lose the game lol
RC248 I can only make an assessment based on history...not conjecture.
Kobe!!!
Kobe---" lil timmy whats my name?"
Duncan--" Daddy Kobe!!!"
Kobe---" Thats right.......bitch
i dont think theres more to come...
Duncan -- 1st over-all pick in 1997/Rokie of the year 1998/2-time NBA MVP (2003,2004)/3 time Finals MVP (1999,2003,2005) and above all 4 rings

This man is a Cold Blooded KILLER!
I Miss #8's Perfomances...
as soon as i heard the gunshots, i ducked.
@bigreduiw Duncan throughout his entire career has never had rebuilding phases or had to carry a scrub team inbetween title runs. How can you compare? Duncan is a PF, Kobe is a SG. But Duncan is undoubtedly the GREATEST PF EVER!
yea just like the lakers wouldnt be champs without kobe
to be a hall of famer you dont have to have a ring and he owns TD
kobe is better, just because he has a more versatile game, but its given that tim duncan is a pf and kobe is a sg so its hard to compare whos better, cause kobe couldnt do things tim could and vice versa
owned
tim duncan owns 4 rings, 3 finals mvp's, 2 mvps
amazing he makes it look easy
WHO KNOWS THIS FUCKINGG SONGG !
thats a good one right there.I hate when people compare people who play different positions
Kobe is one FEARLESS basketball player.
favorite rapper favorite player :)
da 1nes he did at 1:15 and 1:36 are just pure ownage. SERIOUSLY
MJ was great but I never thought much of his dunks. Yeah... he had distance in his jumps but nothing like Kobe. Kobe is more original. MJ is the best player EVER until Kobe retires with 7 rings.

Yea, then getting embarassed by the same Detroit the Spurs beat the following year in the finals.
tim duncan is the BIG FUNDAMENTAL, he and dirk nowitzki are probably the least atheltic players in the league, but they make it up with hard work and basic fundamentals. /:
Robinson - 0 championships as team leader.

Uhmm...Tim Duncan is better than Kobe Bryant. The only reason why people say Kobe is better is because of scoring and rings.
1:15 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
damn might as well take tim outta the line-up when kobe comes to town. Is tim not a good defender shot-blocker? He is a center. But centers get dunked on all the time, even mutumbo...

@bigreduiw 6th man- odom*
@fannypack311 he'll get at least two more
Kobe >> Duncan. Kobe is the spur killer. He is a top 5 player of all time, while Duncan is in the bottom half of the top 10.
You do keep changing the topic. If you bother reading it, you keep bringing something else up, I prove you wrong, and then you try to talk about something else.

Duncan got on the team, and they were rated the number 1 dynasty in all of sports. Duncan was the leader, MVP, finals MVP, get over it.
Kobe - 2 finals wins as leader.
Well what am I wrong about? I prove you wrong with facts, and all you do is claim I know nothing.
why do you compare duncan with kobe? they are playing on completely different positions...
KOBE=TUPAC
maybe becuase hes a POWER FOWARD thier surpoosed to be better denfenders than shooting gurads duh
lakers will win it with andrew bynum
how does that help support your argument that tim duncan isn't in the same category as kobe? i'm well aware that both players play/played in extremely good organizations that surrounded them with talent and a great coach.

i bet u think kobes better than mj too
@ESIR00 Dont be ignorant smh... I'd like to see what you'd say if you were accused of a crime that YOU know you didn't commit... Would you want people to still hold that against you?
@KillaCam96 5 now
@MisSeductive Same can be said for Kobe. He hasn't been good in 3 years. Pau Gasol deserved BOTH of the finals MVPs from the past 2 championships. I can't stand Pau, but he was the best player and Kobe got it because of his name.

if you ask to people wordwise who was better kobe or tim 95% will say kobe do you kwow why? Because thats true your piece of shit
Sorry bout that. I shouldve read your post carefully, thought you were yet another Kobe hater. I'm at war with them
Duncan is a better Defender than Bryant .
timmy>Kobe.
@hemelekkoff your just hurt becuase KOBE OWNS
Instead of trying to insult me on my comments, which I always delete anyways, why don't you bother trying to explain how Robinson is a better all around player when his stats are not close to Duncan's and Duncan got the finals MVP?
ehmm.. KG ? KG is a better all around player
He didnt dunk on tim
Nice dunk though
Okay, so you can compile a few dunks Kobe gets over Duncan.
Too bad you can't compile any championships for Kobe that weren't from Shaq.
MattMisGOD 😂
@blove323
Kobe got 5, nuff said ?
tim duncan isnt 2nd best lebron is
Thats not posterizes.
Im tin duncan fan. I can say Lebron and Vince Dunks are better
I liked the video, but hated the song. God damn, Tupac was one angry muslim.
He has 4 rings NOOB!!! Owned!!! Kobe has 3 rings but Lakers owe it to Shaq not Kobe!!!
laker are 2nd in the western confrence so HA and when spurs beat the lakers they didnt have andrew bynum so laker are the best with andre bynum BABY HA.
