    Congrats on the grab! Would have been washed Monday here in Vermont. Thanks for the vids!

      Thanks!! It was definitely a micro-regional weather window, and I thought I was S.O.L. with the way Monday shaped up. I just feel lucky 😅

    You've had some good stretches of luck with the weather, but the hard part was your planning and decision making, which ended up being spot-on, WF! Awesome post as usual. I know it's a grind, but I envy your farm life my friend. Cheers.

    I'm glad you got it baled. Hard to cure hay on wet ground. I got finished up last Friday..all machinery and hay under roof. Finally got rain this afternoon. Be safe

      Thanks!! Glad you wrapped up yours! A lot of wet ground hay farming in my area - this year is by far one of the drier years 😅

    Feel bad for ya, the heat and humidity are brutal. I live outside Boston and my poor cats are sweltering in the heat. They've been going to their water bowl like crazy and sleeping next to the fan I run to air out the house. Hope your hay is surviving.

      @@Shawn_the_Protogen oh gosh, I believe it! Must be even worse out east, with the ocean and city heat. We had a nice respite for a few days, but now back to soup 😅. Thanks for watching!

    I was thinking that on day 1 you were going to rake it up...that would have allowed continued drying overnight and the "bare ground" would have dried too. So when you were describing how you rake, does that mean your outer rows are all doubles?

    • @windrowfarm
      @windrowfarm  4 місяці тому

      I thought about raking on day one, but after how much cloudy weather and spitting rain we got, I knew the windrows wouldn’t be very fluffy or accept much wind blowing through them. I’m glad I tedded it late in the day and just let the surface crisp up overnight (which doesn’t usually happen!)
      Regarding how I rake, Yep! I go counterclockwise once to pull everything in from the edge, then turn around and go clockwise. So the outer row is always one and a half or doubled, and with yields like this and a rake this size can get pretty huge!
      Thanks for following along! (and I’m always all ears on other ideas for raking, etc! It’s fun to compare.)

    Tomorrow i try to bale my first test field. Can i ask do you make those hay for sale, or did you have own cattle?

    • @windrowfarm
      @windrowfarm  4 місяці тому +3

      Wow, that’s great! I sell all of my hay. Good luck, let me know how it goes!

      @@windrowfarm baling went surprisingly well. There were some problems with the string feed at the beginning. But I got 88 bales from 30 acres and sold them the same evening. I have to think, if next year I could make a bigger batch, then this could be worth it. But it was fun for sure :D

      @AmisCorolla 4 місяці тому +1

      @@windrowfarm They were same size as yours. Im not sure what it is in inches. i been looking those hay throwers and hay kickers, but in eu area those are very rare. Maybe i have to do it my self.
