Hard to believe Deke out-kicked Lopes!
Lopes got the last laugh at 84 LA Olympic marathon
I think he just bled him to death with a gradual acceleration over the last 2 miles. Only deek could do that!
He must do it in Los Angeles, When Lopes is in best shape nobody beats him, but Lopes to coudl win must have distance from the others far from the distance line!
grandisimo maratonista de castella...grandisimo
This time Lopes is preparing is olimpic marathon, but the Castella it's a great runner to!
He was THE BEST.The Big Man!
LOSオリンピックの前にキャステラさんと、ロペスさんが激しいレースを展開していた生々しい映像が観れて感激です。そして、日本の大会ではあり得ない、観客による走路の狭さ!怖い!!
Back when people routinely said "the Africans can't run distance".
Grande Lopes!
キャステラ、ロペス、ゴメス、サラザール、て、すごいメンバーやん!
de castella on gran maratonista de los 80s
Salazar’s Waterloo..
and then Salazar, was no more
Salazar was great but the Boston Marathon 1982 destroyed him and he was never the same again. By 1983 he was a shell of himself and was never the same. He was heroic in the Boston race, but winning at what cost?
The Duel in The Sun
Salazar consistently overtrained until he caused permanent damage. AFTER Boston '82 he set American records in the 5000 and 10000.
Overtraining is what destroyed Salazar. Note that AFTER Boston '82, he ran American records in the 10,000 and (!!!) 5000.
Exactly right. Too much mileage, fatigue damage@@aldopedroso6212
The commentator couldn't pronounce Lop-es or Decastella.
Nice butchering of their names Frank!
No drugs those days . Only hard work and talent
Plenty of drugs in those days, note Cierpinski, '80 Olympic champ.
Yes, you did compete against him, you were a good athlete, but if you’re commentating on a world class marathon, your job is to learn how to pronounce the favorite’s names. Or favourite’s if you’re American,
Low pez
Portuguese pronunciation of Lopes is Low-pesh NOT Low-pez.
I cringed every time they said Lopes .... Why don't these commentators do their homework?? It is pronouned LoPEZ!
No it’s not. Portuguese say Lopes ( as in hopes) while Spanish say Lop..es (as in Lopez).
@@smckirk At least you know how is the sound of the name of Carlos Lopes,,You're quiet right, it's not Lopez.
Actually Lopes is pronounced Lo-pesh with the accent on the first syllable.. The es name suffix (which means son of) has an esh pronunciation.
The Spanish name equivalent Lopez is pronounced Lo-peth with the ez having the th pronunciation in Spain. It is not pronounced Lo - pez unless you are in a Spanish speaking county other than Spain.
LÓHPS..this is the right way to pronounce in english..it is as we say it in Portuguese.
Dont made up things dude..Lopes is pronounced LOHPS in english. Simply as that. What you have said is wrong.
