50 Years of the Cascade Head Scenic Research Area

The Cascade Head Scenic Research Area or CHSRA celebrates 50 years in 2024. This landmark legislation set in motion decades of restoration and scientific inquiry in what is Oregon's most intact estuary. Through interviews and imagery, documentary filmmaker, Josh Havelind of Green Wave Media, provides a unique look at the area, which is a model for community involvement and salmon restoration. CHSRA is the geographic and figurative heart of what has emerged as the UNESCO Cascade Head Biosphere Region.
