The original Rayman is pretty darn hard... But the GBA version of the game "Rayman Advance" is much easier (You have one more life dot, and you have boss checkpoints once you've taken out half of their lifebars.)
I always got stuck in Band Land... Then again, I haven't had a copy of the game to play for many years, so I never got another chance once I had matured as a gamer.
I absolutely adored Rayman 3. the amount of humor in it...Ubisoft on its best. Like the start, Murphy constantly mocking the creators of the game. "Press the A button to make a chopper outta' ya hair. Make a chopper outta ya hair? Huh. Sounds like someone’s been eatin’ paint chips again."
SpyxedDemon Ikr, the humor was fucking perfect. Though for me the highlight has to be Andre. Tell me one other game where you spend half the adventure listenig to the evil boss cheering on your enemies as you fight them and complaining about the internal state of your best friend's body.
Something interesting you missed is, Rayman Raving Rabbids on the GBA, uses the original concept of the cancelled Rayman 4. Level environments and transformations intact from the concept art. So basically, the GBA game is an adaption of the cancelled game before it become mini games.

Ubisoft needs to revive Rayman 4. I remember the original Rabbids game was meant to be a Rayman 4, but I never heard of the other Rayman 4 concept. I liked that concept a lot, 3d worlds, inspired by worlds from the first Rayman, more power costumes. We'd be lucky to even get a 3d platformer inspired by Rayman Legends at this rate...

Rayman was a big part of my childhood. While most people played Mario or Crash, my platformer-heroes were Croc and Rayman (and later Sly on the PS2). Such fantastic games, I played Rayman 1, 2, 3 and even M so many damn times. :)
It doesn't. It's gonna take Ubisoft a while before they get Nintendo's respect back. After all the crap they've treating the Wii U, Nintendo won't be putting any Rayman characters in their games for a while. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Rayman in Smash, It just won' happen in this one. Maybe the next one.

However, I do know that the magician in Rayman Origins is the same one as the one from the original Rayman game, that secretly idolized Mr. Dark and wanted to follow in his footsteps, so he became evil. Also, one of sites I've read info on has said that despite the "origins" in the title, Rayman Origins is not a prequel, but a sequel to the previous 3 Rayman games. So, it basically goes Rayman, Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, Rayman Origins, and then Rayman Legends. I do think that calling the game Rayman Origins is very misleading, since it's not a prequel, but that's what Ubisoft decided to call it, as nonsensical as it may be! Poor Rayman 4. I loved the Rabbids for what they were, but I do feel like the decision to make it a minigame collection was based on presumptions about what would be popular and what a Wii game should be. Would have loved to see a Rayman Raving Rabbids in the mould of what was shown in the early trailer. Rabbids Go Home was great fun, if you can get over the fact that those characters essentially froze the Rayman franchise in carbonite. And at least it came back for Origins and Legends. ^^

remember that morning on my 12th Birthday and i got RRR. i had played all the other rayman games so i was hyped as fuck to play the newest rayman Game! i installed it, didn't know what to expect. what i got was my first real dissapointment with gaming. i feelt so cheated, i saw the trailer when rayman was beating they're shit out of the rabbits in the foresst, not a brunch of fucking dnace mini-games and bad railshooters. i was så sad that day
You forgot to mention the Atari Jaguar. Atari gave Ubi Soft a ton of money to finish the game and give it an exclusive, but Ubi Soft decided to wait and release it 8 months after it was finished, so it would come out for the PlayStation debut. This helped kill the Jaguar.
Rayman 4 seriously needs to happen, does anyone honestly think they would (or could) develop it?? Even though the new side-scrollers are good, and they are actually very good, you have to just feel like Rayman has been demoted to a smaller arcade type game (he's still not recovered from the grotesque shambles that was the Rabbids saga, while commercially pretty good it's safe to say it didn't feed the appetite of us original Rayman fans) and he deserves more. The concept of Rayman and the uniqueness of his playability leaves so much available for Rayman 4. The huge fantasy world's of Rayman 2 and 3 just can't be beaten! They had everything!!: funny interjections from the characters around you, an interesting range of combat abilities, the humorous lore with the Teensies, the challenge of finding those pesky lums that were hard to get on each level, the hidden rooms with cages, lums or jewels (depending on which game), the epic boss battles, the artistic landscapes and backdrops that were breathtaking at times, even 'Rayman M' had its moments! But PLEASE Ubisoft, for all the classic Rayman fans of last generation... Give us a proper Rayman 4 as Murfy promised!!!
I knew Japan chose Pikachu as their mascot but I never knew France chose Rayman as their mascot. I like how people are finally recognizing the popularity of video games.

Matt Underwood Rayman 1 on Playstation 1 was the best Rayman game of all time, and certainly in the top 10 platformers of all time. Rayman 3 was basically Rayman 2 with tacked on gimmicks, slightly better graphics and cheesey voice acting. But each to their own I guess :P

In the 3DS version of Rayman 2, the secret 1000th lum is somewhat buggered up. The secret area still exists, but the spiderweb that bounces you up to the lum is no longer bouncy, leaving it inaccessible. However, using the nearby robot pirates gunshot blasts, it's possible to damage-boost your way up to the lum. Collecting it does nothing, and in fact, trying to leave the area with the tunnel behind the lum will soft-lock you, because the loading trigger is not present. HOWEVER, the 3DS version allows you to save your lum progress mid-level via the pause menu, which was not possible on previous versions, so you CAN in fact save the act of having collected the secret lum using this. .......... I don't get why it was changed, but it works out somehoiw.

And of those 5 games to get sequels, none of them have made it to part 3, while Pokemon, Zelda, and Smash Bros are at part 4 and Mario is at 5. May as well be Did You Know Nintendo.

Christopher Baidoo For that to be true, GTA, Final Fantasy and Sonic would have to be at Part 4 at the very least by now (they all have hours worth of content ready to be covered and are among the top 10 best-selling franchises in history). It took them years to get to Pac-Man, and he's one of the oldest characters in gaming. The Xbox brand is over 10 years old by now, the Sega Genesis fought the SNES almost toe-to-toe, and the PS2 is the best selling console in history. In spite of all that, Nintendo gets several console-specific episodes (including a sequel to their Game Boy episode). That all doesn't account for games that haven't gotten an episode at all, like Half-Life, Tekken, Assassin's Creed, Halo, Tomb Raider, Ratchet & Clank, or even Tetris. Instead minor Nintendo games like Pikmin and F-Zero get episodes. I've been to their website (I visit it frequently). I know they have information based on these games.

I guess Rayman managed to beat Pikachu when it came to their country's final standings in the recent World Cup. While Japan lost to Columbia, Ivory Coast and barely tied Greece thanks to some poor calls, are good-old limbless hero Rayman, Benzema and the rest of the French national football/soccer team managed to push aside Hounduras, murdered the Swiss (5-2), tied ... Ecuador ..., eliminated Nigeria before ultimately falling apart at the hands of the Germans (by only a difference of one goal ... rather then a 1-7 defeat). Sure France won the World Cup back in 1998, but the French team had a great run, meanwhile Pikachu was left crying on the bleachers (Pokemon the First Movie style) after that last game against Rodriguez and the Columbians. One of these days I want to see Nintendo lend the copyrights of the Super Mario Bros to the national Italian football team once Mario Balotelli hits his prime (and a ball into the net).
Thanks for doing this video - Rayman is my favourite video game character! Man, I remember getting all hyped up for Rayman 4 with those videos and screenshots...only to be pretty disappointed when we ended up with Raving Rabbids. I'd still love to see Rayman 4, whether based on those screenshots or not, and preferably in 3D. Don't get me wrong, I like Origins and Legends a lot, but I'd rather go back to 3D, since Rayman 3 is still one of my favourite games to this day.

Rayman M is super under-rated, I remember it was very poorly reviewed at the time but play with a friend and it was pretty damn fun and unique (the races at least, arena battles were a bit shit).

It's a silly name to call it Rayman Origins when it is not a prequel, but Ubisoft has alluded to it being the new Rayman 4. The old Rayman 4 became Rayman Raving Rabbids! Rayrulez96 I never saw that ad, since I never bought Rayman Origins until a couple years after it came out, so I can't explain that. However, I do know that the magician in Rayman Origins is the same one as the one from the original Rayman game, that secretly idolized Mr. Dark and wanted to follow in his footsteps, so he became evil. Also, one of sites I've read info on has said that despite the "origins" in the title, Rayman Origins is not a prequel, but a sequel to the previous 3 Rayman games. So, it basically goes Rayman, Rayman 2: The Great Escape, Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, Rayman Origins, and then Rayman Legends. I do think that calling the game Rayman Origins is very misleading, since it's not a prequel, but that's what Ubisoft decided to call it, as nonsensical as it may be! Either way, according to Ubisoft themselves, Rayman Origins is Rayman 4!

Poor Rayman 4. I loved the Rabbids for what they were, but I do feel like the decision to make it a minigame collection was based on presumptions about what would be popular and what a Wii game should be. Would have loved to see a Rayman Raving Rabbids in the mould of what was shown in the early trailer.
Rabbids Go Home was great fun, if you can get over the fact that those characters essentially froze the Rayman franchise in carbonite. And at least it came back for Origins and Legends. ^^

You forgot to mention the Atari Jaguar. Atari gave Ubi Soft a ton of money to finish the game and give it an exclusive, but Ubi Soft decided to wait and release it 8 months after it was finished, so it would come out for the PlayStation debut. This helped kill the Jaguar.
Same thing happened with Legends on the Wii U. It was fully developed, but delayed it so they could release 360 and PS3 versions at the same time.

Even though the new side-scrollers are good, and they are actually very good, you have to just feel like Rayman has been demoted to a smaller arcade type game (he's still not recovered from the grotesque shambles that was the Rabbids saga, while commercially pretty good it's safe to say it didn't feed the appetite of us original Rayman fans) and he deserves more. The concept of Rayman and the uniqueness of his playability leaves so much available for Rayman 4.
The huge fantasy world's of Rayman 2 and 3 just can't be beaten! They had everything!!: funny interjections from the characters around you, an interesting range of combat abilities, the humorous lore with the Teensies, the challenge of finding those pesky lums that were hard to get on each level, the hidden rooms with cages, lums or jewels (depending on which game), the epic boss battles, the artistic landscapes and backdrops that were breathtaking at times, even 'Rayman M' had its moments!
But PLEASE Ubisoft, for all the classic Rayman fans of last generation... Give us a proper Rayman 4 as Murfy promised!!!

Matt Underwood Rayman 1 on Playstation 1 was the best Rayman game of all time, and certainly in the top 10 platformers of all time. Rayman 3 was basically Rayman 2 with tacked on gimmicks, slightly better graphics and cheesey voice acting.

In the 3DS version of Rayman 2, the secret 1000th lum is somewhat buggered up. The secret area still exists, but the spiderweb that bounces you up to the lum is no longer bouncy, leaving it inaccessible. However, using the nearby robot pirates gunshot blasts, it's possible to damage-boost your way up to the lum. Collecting it does nothing, and in fact, trying to leave the area with the tunnel behind the lum will soft-lock you, because the loading trigger is not present. HOWEVER, the 3DS version allows you to save your lum progress mid-level via the pause menu, which was not possible on previous versions, so you CAN in fact save the act of having collected the secret lum using this. .......... I don't get why it was changed, but it works out somehoiw.

Anyone else not a fan of the design used in Rayman Origins/Legends and Smash Bros? I dont like the massive eyebrows and overly messy hair. I liked the design in Rayman 3. In fact, the one at the start of Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 was my all time favourite. The darker red and lighter yellow hair looked SOOOOOO good!

Christopher Baidoo For that to be true, GTA, Final Fantasy and Sonic would have to be at Part 4 at the very least by now (they all have hours worth of content ready to be covered and are among the top 10 best-selling franchises in history). It took them years to get to Pac-Man, and he's one of the oldest characters in gaming. The Xbox brand is over 10 years old by now, the Sega Genesis fought the SNES almost toe-to-toe, and the PS2 is the best selling console in history. In spite of all that, Nintendo gets several console-specific episodes (including a sequel to their Game Boy episode).
That all doesn't account for games that haven't gotten an episode at all, like Half-Life, Tekken, Assassin's Creed, Halo, Tomb Raider, Ratchet & Clank, or even Tetris. Instead minor Nintendo games like Pikmin and F-Zero get episodes.
I've been to their website (I visit it frequently). I know they have information based on these games.

I guess Rayman managed to beat Pikachu when it came to their country's final standings in the recent World Cup. While Japan lost to Columbia, Ivory Coast and barely tied Greece thanks to some poor calls, are good-old limbless hero Rayman, Benzema and the rest of the French national football/soccer team managed to push aside Hounduras, murdered the Swiss (5-2), tied ... Ecuador ..., eliminated Nigeria before ultimately falling apart at the hands of the Germans (by only a difference of one goal ... rather then a 1-7 defeat). Sure France won the World Cup back in 1998, but the French team had a great run, meanwhile Pikachu was left crying on the bleachers (Pokemon the First Movie style) after that last game against Rodriguez and the Columbians. One of these days I want to see Nintendo lend the copyrights of the Super Mario Bros to the national Italian football team once Mario Balotelli hits his prime (and a ball into the net).

Thanks for doing this video - Rayman is my favourite video game character! Man, I remember getting all hyped up for Rayman 4 with those videos and screenshots...only to be pretty disappointed when we ended up with Raving Rabbids. I'd still love to see Rayman 4, whether based on those screenshots or not, and preferably in 3D. Don't get me wrong, I like Origins and Legends a lot, but I'd rather go back to 3D, since Rayman 3 is still one of my favourite games to this day.
