I had a friend in the Navy who refused to legally change her name until she got promoted to Petty Officer 3rd Class because her husband's surname was "Spray." She would have otherwise been called "Seaman Spring."
@@wildeymazz6354 great comment. I loved this show but it’s because I “got it”. I’m sure for many, it was over their heads. This show was genius in my opinion.
I love how the HR lady is the one person across the entire series that Ted is completely unable to charm in any way. Room full of theoretically savvy businesspeople? Sells every last one of them on the idea of the nothingburger Project Jabberwocky. (Look it up, it's fantastic) HR lady? Stonewalled, don't even try again. It really goes that extra mile to just rub it in.
Jabberwocky wasn't so much Ted's "charm" as it was an inevitable byproduct of corporate culture. Nobody wanted to look like they were out of the loop or unintelligent so they put on the same act as all the other clueless cogs around them.
I mean really you would push back on the system provider and would absolutely raise hell until this issue is fixed. And if Portial de Rossi's character didn't have the authority to override it this would be something you bring in higher ups to throw their weight around.
This show was too good for television.
I finally found the show on used DVD. This is the only show I could watch incessantly and not get tired; imho it's absolutely brilliant.
I went by my maiden name at work for 10 years after my wedding because the HR and IT departments said it was too hard to change in the system.
They were lying
It wasn't hard, you can change the details. They are just lazy and can't be bothered to do it.
I legally only have 1 name. It's different in every system and everything is way harder with way more steps. Businesses can't grasp simple concepts.

OOF! That's gonna be some paperwork.
🤣
That was too relatable
@@bensiagel no words but oof. 😡
This episode speaks reality so well with having to deal with system quirks
For context, I'm pretty sure the falling guy was a test dummy from the science crew.
This show was great. Short, but sweet.
It was a prank by Linda.
The process is the punishment.
The biggest reason this show didn't do well was because its lead-in was the dying gasps of Scrubs.
Nah, it was probably just too smart for the general public. I doubt that more than 30% of the adult population would get most of the satire.

@@wildeymazz6354 No. It was too smart for television executives.

I swear that was a tribute to monty python. They did a sketch just like that!
Just realized how much the soundtrack from this show is from the Tropico games
better call ted

Or anyone with a sense of how language flows. most French words sound stupid if not pronounced the French way.
Ess-car-guht

this is why system needs so many women lately. it is not a comedy.
I can see how this show got cancelled
What do you mean?
