  • A short video of the Ruston 4VER Diesel Pumping Set starting up and running before shutting down during the Autumn Rally at Twyford Waterworks. This diesel engine was built in 1934 and was installed at Twyford Waterworks in 1935 to pump softened water up to the service reservoir. It drove a two-stage Gwynnes 'Invincible' pump through a David Brown speed increaser as the engine speed was too low for the pump. Between them, the two diesels were capable of delivering 3½ million gallons (13 million litres) per day to the service reservoir. A spare impeller for the pump is placed in front of the pump base.
