    I own 2 of Ed’s wtk’s .I have one in natural micarta and I had a custom one made with thuya Burl.. both of mine are in s35vn steel .both are great. !! I use the non custom one in the woods and they’re excellent tools.. worth the money for a real professional tool. The knife is the most important part of the kit in my opinion and this knife won’t fail you ..

    Another excellent video. Have a look at the Boker Plus Mini Tracker, it’s a Dave Wenger design and at Heinnie Haynes only £60. The original Dave Wenger is over $700. It’s 1095 steel, micarta handle with genuine kydex sheath. Size is about the same as the Tops Tom Brown Tracker 2. I’ve had mine for a month but due to long Covid not tried it out yet so can’t say if it’s any good but it seems well made. I have watched a guy on UA-cam who claims his dad designed the original tracker then Tom Brown adapted it and got all the credit. This was before Dave Beck also. I think the video was called who made the original Tracker. The post is from Utah Knife Works, well worth a watch.

    I've had two Tops trackers over the years , probably got the first around 2005, I couldn't get on with them. Your ED Martin looks like a completely different animal, quite an improvement.

    It is Great to see such a Good version of an Iconic Knife been used in My Homeland ! Thank You for the method of Drawing the Fire steel back from an embedded Knife it was a New one for Me ! The Golden Rule of using a Tracker Knife is that You have to Know How to Use a Knife Properly for it to be " A Good Knife " and I have to say this as an Old Dub in London for Forty Years , it is Great too Hear an Irish Voice on this Subject and I look forward to much More .

    Do you still like the trakker? I'm not going to get one because not really into large knives. Don't believe in one tool option. Besides already have bark rivers version of the tracker. I highly recommend ed martins t3 e&e knife. Designed in the 90's for some air force survival instructors. Love it so much I own all 3 versions of the knife. Keep up the great videos my friend! Stay safe!

    Thanks much for your efforts in making this vid. Kinda on the fence between one of these and a small hatchet or 'hawk for light chopping, rough wood shaping and baton work. Your input is helpful. d:^)

    • @eagleridge1972
      @eagleridge1972  3 роки тому +1

      I would say the tracker is brilliant for a one tool but if its dedicated chopping you won't beat the likes of a Gransfors small forest axe.

    • @fatfreddyscat5173
      @fatfreddyscat5173 3 роки тому +1

      @@eagleridge1972 I ended up modding my Chogan. Cut off the pole and shortened the handle. It still hammers fine but now it's 1.5# total and MUCH "handier". I only chop when forming wood so it's ight work. Not a big fan of high velocity sharp things in my AO. Saws do the cutting for me.
      But if I end up sometime with a lil extra unaccounted for cash on hand I may hafta splurge a bit with the Gransfors one-of-these-days. That name keeps coming up.

    Excellent look at this tracker Shayne! But more importantly, let’s address the “broken record” comment lol...
    Many of us who are not fortunate enough to take one of your classes get FAR more from your vids than a simple look at a knife. You share truly valuable experience here. Truth my friend! Personally, I needed to hear the “get your ass off the couch” right now. Simple words can (and DO) inspire. The broken record is timely today. I got off the couch💪🏼

    The tracker wasn't actually designed by Tom Brown. He stole it from another knife maker and profited off of it. He screwed over several people over the years regarding the knife.

    • @eagleridge1972
      @eagleridge1972  Рік тому +1

      You could well be right, there still is alot of controversy about the knife dating all the way to Robb Russon in 1981, then the medicine blade by Ed Lombi and the lineage continued on, I have a Beck version too. To be honest, I really don't know what happened or who completely lay claim to the design, could Tom have ripped off the design? Maybe; could the design have been ripped off by a knife maker that received instructions to make such knife? It is possible. I know that there is lack of definite design ownership otherwise it would have been legally resolved.

    Had two of those a dave beck and red scorpion six, all good but not great and hand limitations and fatigue were not considered , check out timberlynxinnovations on instagram, that knife has been developed for 17 years and tested in every environment by trained and untrained people, as well as adaptive and limited people. I'd love to get one in your hands once in production!

    A bit of misinformation in this video. The tracker knife was not designed buy Tom Brown Jr. He wis given the original knife buy a maker and claimed it as his own.

  • @isabellam1936
    @isabellam1936 2 роки тому

    One of the most useless knife designs ever. I hear from so many people how they regret buying the Tracker. It’s like a Victorinox, it can do everything but does it horribly.
