I am currently not in the position to become a patron, but i am very interested in what the sources have to say. could you please tell me wich manuscripts mention this and where that ilustration is from? Thank you for the great video's. All the best.
Hi, the two KdF-related manuscripts explicitly mentioning Stangeschieben are named at 0:18. Other than that, it appears in various not-HEMA related sources, such as Buch Weinsberg. The illustration at 0:41 comes from one of Talhoffers, namely MS Chart.A.558, fol. 29v. Take care!
Throw anything heavy, it is a wonderful exercise. Rocks and kettlebells spring (pardon the pun) to mind. The ultimate in not messing up your yard would probably be a sandbag. But I understand the historic desire to be authentic as possible.
This is actually a very serious question - my yard is, luckily, in a rather wild state, so I saw no problem in messing up the grass. But throwing anything heavy WILL tear the ground and destroy any life on it.
@@Sprechfenster I’m not rich so when I made my sandbag I bought an army surplus duffle bag that was heavy canvas. Picking up a used punching bag at a garage sale will work too. You could throw that on a sidewalk and not damage anything. UA-cam is your DIY friend.
Ha, kind of reminiscent of the caber toss (the log throwing event in Scotland). Wonder if it is descendent/related.
I write a bit about it in the companion blog article!
Lookin like an Invader in Dark Souls trying to land his favorite move.
I have no idea what is being talked about ;P But, well, thanks? :)
@@Sprechfenster very good game that features these same period weapons and clothing.
Mechanically looks very similar to an Oberhau/Zornhau
Exactly!

This looks dope. Wish I could do it without having to damage my yard

@@oldkbellguy5156 Good tips, thanks!
could possibly do something with a medicine ball attached to a post? it may not be perfect but it would be better than what's used in the video.
