I was born in 54 so when my Mother started watching the show I was young but I loved it. I would hurry home from school so I could watch it. Remember when Julie and Susan were rivals? They were awesome. Yea, I missed a few years I was very sick and in and out of the hospital. In the last 5 years, I finally got back to it. I really missed a lot. Alabama

I think that's great. I always thought the 6 month tape ahead time span was way to long. It wasn't neccessary. Should have shortened it a long time ago
Great idea! It always drives me nuts when they're dressed more for spring in the winter too.
I love it. Everyone gets what they want! Stars get time with their family. And can come back refreshed, and ready to work. And us audience get the shortened time between tape and air date. We dont have to wait 6 months anymore for a story to be changed or done with. Its all awesome. Love it!! Its better late than never i guess. Love Days!!!

Started watching the first day this show hit the air. Took a slight hiatus myself from the show 1978-2019. I am back and loving loving loving this show. It was always good but wow its great now. Not liking that Stefan died. Love how they are handling Julie that whole storyline had me thinking she was just going to hang it up after all these year (I HOPE NOT). Brilliant with Julie. Not too crazy about all the use of masks (could come up with something a bit more believable) but love Nicole and Kristen. Great cast I can't wait to watch everyday.
Something a little more believable? Oh yeah because Kristen doesn't happen to already have someone that went through a full surgical reconstruction to look JUST like her. Same with Marlana and I Hope. I didn't watch it back then, but I've read that there was at one point an actual Princess Diana that was made to look like Hope and wasn't just a chip implant.
I mean I'm surprised you're saying more believable. I mean to me the entire show screams unbelievable. Like how many times have we seen the same characters die? How many times have we had people chipped/brainwashed. Like we have Hope believing she's someone well right now because of a mad doctor. We've had Marlena possessed with a demon and brainwashed to be a serial killer(PS that Halloween episode paying homage to that and the other serial killers actually excited me a little too much). I mean if anything I found it more as comical than anything.
Been watching from the beginning use to watch with my mom but my mom is gone now, a lot of us did with our mom or grandmother . So glad it's still around next year , like sands in the hourglass so are the days of our lives😊

Thank you so much for the info Phoenix as it makes so much sense. I hope tho when the hiatus is over they don’t go back to that 6-7 months of preshooting so we get another mess up. Hopefully saving this money will allow better use of it by having the writers come up with more plausible use of our beloved characters and the writers to really listen to the fans. How this time jump is going to “fix” things seems ridiculous and of course they will have to use flashbacks to show how we got there. As always you give the best info and you really know how to do it well!

I watched religiously during the 90s to the late 2000s, but was watching on and off after that. I've been a regular viewer for the last two-three years with the quality of writing being better. There is much more balance.....out there campy stories, love stories, humor, sadness, darkness, light. I'm glad that the tone of the show is so much more varied than it was under previous writing regimes, where it was consistently depressing and dull.
Thanks for explaining this so well as I've been wanting DAYS to close that gap between filming and airdate for a long time now. I'm glad they're finally shortening that gap now and do the course-correct on storylines that need to be fixed up.

I think the real kicker is unlike other instances of people being back to life Rolf actually even proclaimed that there was no chance with the lack of spark in his life. At best it'll be a twin or doppelganger brainwashed to believe he's actually Stefan.

Thanks for your comments, Days of our lives isn't going off the air, they are just going to stop filming for 4 months, they are currently so far ahead that they are filming June episodes and writing July episodes and they were renewed for another year, also I'm not worried, my co-host is having surgery, we're not married, not dating, just friends.
This show should be Grandfathered in. I mean hello it's been on since before I was in Kindergarten! And as for cast, I'm so glad they are bringing Stephen back, I really loved him and Gabby but she needs to get a hold on her revenge! Anyway, as long as they keep Ben and Cierra, John and Marlena, Jack and Jennifer all together I'll be happy😂😂 yes I'm the one that loves the happy parts, wish they'd bring in bad guys we don't know and then kill them off like they do on night time TV. Honestly, this is one of my fave shows, I'll record it if I'm not home and I've grown up with all them. So yes, keep the show going!!!!
Maybe I've missed way to much over the last (how long has Stefan been around), but I honestly have no type of attachment to retaining him. I mean I'd rather see EJ brought back. I was just sick of the concept of getting rid of one son of Stefano and creating a whole new one. I mean idk maybe that's the same way EJ was brought about, but I know I did watch enough of EJ and Sami to be content with them being together even though part of me still wanted her to work things out with Rafe and STILLLLLL there was a part of me that wanted to see her and Lucas work things out regardless of how toxic their relationships were.
It's also odd because speaking of Sami I always saw her as a bi-WITCH, but there was something that made me want things to work out well for her. However Gabby here lately has been quite the bi-WITCH, and honestly I want everything she deserves to come her way. The crazy part is my earliest recollection of Gabby I actually remember her not being such a bad person, but it's like with all she's dealt with you can somewhat understand how she's developed to become such a evil nut. Still I personally get that feeling of she deserves what she has coming to her.

I've been watching the show since 1965. It's my daily fix. For me time. Which I really have so Little time for. So have something so wonderful look forward to 5 days a week, nice be very happy for something for me for a change. I've been to giving to everyone else. Helping them with their problems, life challenges. For 45 lousy minutes for myself is absolutely wonderful. Love the writers. Thank you

I liked it being taped in advance. I like spoilers too. However they should correct the Eric, Nicole and Sara storyline. I wish they would keep Eric and Nicole together.

I don’t watch Days, but I’ve always thought they taped far too ahead of their air dates. This is a smart move, assuming that’s the real reason.
Also what you said about Days always having something exciting happening? That’s Ron. He wrote both OLTL and GH like that and it’s why he’s always been one of my favorite head writers, flaws and all.
I miss him writing for GH!
I wish they would do it some way so that him and Gabbi would still be married he was kidnapped or something right before the shooting and also I hope they are not going to recast someone playing Stefano
I doubt they're actually going to recast Stefano. I think they're pulling a lot of legs on that one just to keep such a powerful character constantly mentioned. I'm sure everyone was panicking and how we're going to deal with an actual FINAL death of Stefano now that the actor is dead, but he's just TOO much of an icon to just recast just because they can't cast the main actor. I mean they could, but I bet you that'd be the nail in the coffin for this show at that point. I get annoyed enough by them constantly recasting all these people. Like I swear the guy who plays Will for example I liked him when they changed it to him from whoever was before him (even though I've heard otherwise from other people) and then they changed him to another actor that I didn't care for and his whole character just turned bland and NOW all of a sudden he's back. Oh and I believe they just did the same thing to Abigail... or maybe that was a few months ago. I just remember one day seeing these ginger and I was like "WHAT?" like casting seems to almost never even be concerned with making recast look at least somewhat similar.
I like that, I've never understood why they film 6 months ahead.

My brief time I was under the impression that he was bad and well Gabby was quote frankly a bitch for a while now, but then again for what she's dealt with in her past it's somewhat understandable.

I understand the explarnation but wonder if the actors and crew get paid during the filming hiatus. It also sounds like it may be the beginning of the end .too. The crew will be out of work and properly won't get paid. They will probably will be looking for other opportunities. We all know that low ratings is less advertising dollars paid by sponsors. I am guessing too everyone will look at the ratings during next several months.
Well to be honest these savings are probably just going to be put on investing more on budgeting more towards higher paid cast and crew.

Glad Julie is alive but yes major error as they had Shaw’s heart too. They had a great love for two people yearning for it and we got a tiny moment in time for them.
They'll do the fake twin thing just like they did with Aidan. They kidnapped him, then put a twin in his place to try to kill Hope. Brandan is to popular to let go, so they kinda don't have a choice

Gh I beleive is 6 weeks? Don't quote on that tho. Actors going on their vacations usually tape their scenes a month or so ahead of time but thats I think as far out as they tape.

Yeah they should not have done that time jump. It seems we're just going to continue to be confused watching until all the details are broken down through each episodes. I'm one of those people that honestly goes in and out of watching the show. So I'm used to be lost and trying to get up to speed on everything, but that's frustrating when you're actually watching consistently and just one day hits and you feel like you've missed a whole year of the show.
Now I'm just curious how they're going to resolve the mismatch in years for when we have our New Year's special. Like we already deal with enough confusion trying to figure out how Hope and Brady's daughter for example was 5 just a few years ago and she's what 17? 18? 19? 20? at this point. I'm hoping soon someone turns that hour glass back and we just go back to before Jen was even pushed, but then again that probably isn't going to happened because they've already recast some of the kids to make them older. Sheesh these are the Days of our Lives.

They would still be three to four months ahead, since they not tape eight months in advance, not six. But, shutting down for four months is smart. Hopefully they can update the cameras they use and post-produce better, because the soap looks dark and yellow/green all-the time and it's gross.
I was pretty confused when they decided to kill Stephan. Apparently Julie got his heart so I predict a "possession" of Judy by Stephan....I'm also mad they didn't have the same actress back as Vivian!
Brandon was never supposed to be Stephan long term, since Tyler Christopher left in the middle of the story, Brandon was just supposed to come in and close out Stephan story line which ended in his death. What they could not predict is that the audience would enjoy Stephan and Gabi as much as they did but since they film 6 months in advance, there was no way to stop the story line, by the time fans got excited about them as a couple, the actor had already finished his death scene and moved on. Right now Days is filming scenes for June and they wanted Louise to come back as Vivian to help close out Stephan story, since her character brought him in, she was the one that basically would take him out. But Louise said no so they got Robin to fill in. No matter what fans want, you can't make actors do what they don't want to do. Louise said she was not going to uproot her life just to do 15 episodes on short notice. She's happy in NY and they film in LA.

While I am super thrilled that the gap in filming to air will be so much shorter I have to wonder about the actors. I mean I am hoping they will be getting paid during the hiatus, but what about taking other jobs? If they are allowed to take other jobs during this time what are the chances that one or more of them could find an amazing gig and not come back at all? Again, I am really happy the 6 month taped ahead thing will be gone, but still a tiny bit worried about the logistics of telling someone you will be out of work for 4 months without using your craft (acting) and/or getting paid...
School teachers go through this every year, I know teachers that save their money and spend wisely so that they can have the summer off, while other teachers will take on a temporary job while schools are closed. I'm sure the actors can get in a play for 4 months or do a film in the spare time. Either way you have to remember most of these actors are paid huge salaries and aren't working pay check to pay check, a lot of them also own businesses, so most of them should not be have to be too pressed about the hiatus.

A lot of college kids watch soaps and when kids are home for the summer soaps do younger adult stories because they know they will have more potential younger adult viewers

Honestly that seems like the best way to keep in touch with grandparents. LOL You can talk about all of Days of our Lives with them. But certainly not like all the stuff typical 20 year old's associate with typically these days.

NO. That's where misunderstanding came into play. He's debunking that misinformation. Days has been filming several months in advanced. So the hiatus only impacts actual work for cast and crew. For us we will continue to see new episodes regularly with the exception to local cable network interruptions and certain brief planned off days.
What about them saying the cast contracts have been let go of??
If they're on 4 month production hiatus that time period of non-production would be pointless to have them on a contract if they're not going to be paid. So they'll likely officially go through contracts somewhere in the middle of the hiatus just to make solid decisions when they're catching up.

Did you just comment based on the title? Did you bother watching the video? Did you bother checking the sources on what's happening? Days has had rumors of cancellations since forever ago. Yes time is ticking and some of the storylines that we're dealing with now makes it appear that they're transition for an end, but that same thing happened EXACTLY 10 years ago back in 2009 when we had rumors of it ending then.
How can they bring Stephen back to life his wife donated his heart to Julie? That would be too much of a stretch even for a soap
Why did you bring princess Gina back?, I watch the show every day and just can't figure this one out
Well we've still got so much to learn as far as this time jump so there could be some chain of events that have to be covered idealistically with Princess Gina. Like we know that she has history with John at a time when Marlena and John recently got back together. So you know they have to shake things up some more. On top of that she also was really the opener for the whole time jump thing. Though I will say most of us probably weren't too enthusiastic about that. Like she pushed Jen, which led to Jack doing the switch on the hour glass that led to the time jump.
Thanks for clearing that up! IMO, It sounds like an excellent idea for DOOL’S in order to be more relevant with real events....Just hope the Actors are ok with it?
I know the guy who plays Will made it seem all peachy, but then again they're high paid veterans (even though he left at one point and got recast) Honestly if it hurt them anything I think that goes into play where they'd settling contracts that they're going to be having to renew as it is soon.

Yes he is. Suppose to be his twin brother. How they will work this in we will have to see. I just wish they would not have brought back Princess Gina. That was the stupidest plot line they ever came up with and they need to put Princess Gina and Dr Rolf out to pasture. If you want to bring anyone back it should be Bo but we all know he is dead or is he really dead. I know that Patch , Abigail and her husband are all making returns. If anything, Abigail's husband should take over DeMira but I believe he gave it to Stephan. Anyways thats what I know

Kassie is such a down to earth person. I had the pleasure of meeting her (along withy Kathy Brier and Bobbie Eakes) at a concert here in upstate NY. What beautiful voices they all have. I also met her husband and their son. Such a pleasant family. 🙂

No I have not been watching them I had no idea that I could watch them in Paris believe me when I say that I don’t know a lot bout this internet stuff grandkids been helping me with this stuff all I know that I have been watching this show over 40 years on tv
They tape 6 months ahead! A bit crazy if you ask me! That’s why so many good actors are gone from this show!!
The reason actors aren't gone isn't the filming schedule, mostly it's due to budget cuts and not being able to afford as big of a cast as they could in early 2000s and lower. Now they have to cut actors to be able to afford big name actors, because the bigger name actors like Steven Nichols would rather quit than miss a pay raise or get a pay cut. Other actors Like Alison wanted to try new things while she was still young, like directing, movies and other genres

didn't GL time-jump by one year on their last episode??..and going on hiatus is NEVER a good sign - and a first for a show that's run this long..Lovers & Friends was on four months, then brought back revamped.........

@@gracereifers4891 never heard of a show going on hiatus then returning and lasting too much longer..sounds like Days will be done at least by the end of next summer - like three of the four last cancellations..and i assume DooL will be going off the air at the end of the month, though not clearly stated in what i've read so far.......
@@dannyhill8797 They've had hiatuses. Technically they always have a hiatus every year, but it's shorter and serves a purpose to the cast in the similar manner of us getting vacation time at work.

Yes I totally agree DOOL is the only soap that keeps my attention. Its time for ABC to fire Frank cause GH has lost its juice

Here's the thing about soaps there's no such thing as a good couple in soaps all the bad people get good stuff and good people get screwed they just show people how things really are in life
Unfortunately they don't go outside of the box, I think there should be a balance of happy couples with normal problems and couples in trouble due to extraordinary soap only type problems.

The cast and crew are taking a hiatus of filming to shorten the film to air date. And yes there is also a time jump on the show
