I didn't mention Absorb Heat for tanking as its not my preference to use as it limits your countering ability in addition to the fact that there is an current exploit with Absorb Heat which is why I don't show the power.

If you cancel rage's channeled hate the ticks stop, if you cancel flurry shot the ticks stop, if you cancel amazon deflection the shield stops, any power if you cancel it you no longer have the benefit of the ability because you cancelled it. *Except* Absorb Heat where you cancel it and get the FULL benefit of the healing ticks even if you cancel it after 0.5 seconds. That's the exploit, if you gain the entire benefit of an ability after you've already cancelled it.
People have to understand the TIME put into these videos lol , this guy goes into The very last detail with everything, and sometimes you might use a Loadout for 2 weeks and find out something that works better so it takes time

I’ve decided I want to commit to learning to tank to acquire a deeper understanding of the game. I’m trying to pick a tank power set that is best for a new player experience that also teaches the role and the game in general. For the life me, I cannot find much of a consensus on this. All the answers seem to be contradictory. Can you help? With a suggestion of which one to commit to for awhile? I realize that the situation varies. I have watched the introduction to all of your 2019 tank videos. I get the sense you’re not a fan of Atomic, but you never really rank any of the others.
Learning the tanking role and gameplay mechanics will be 100% Ice tanking. It is very forgiving because its shield based which also allows you to learn countering effectively because you have more time to focus on what the npc's are doing and you can also learn raid mechanics for the same reason. Ice has an amazing crowd control move in Resonating Gale, gain your immunity/breakout faster with the new GU 103 mechanic with Shatter Restraints and lots of viable builds.

I got an atomic tank to 28th level, but I realized I was not a good tank. I’ve never been good at MMOs, but I never applied myself either. If anyone wonders why they don't get the same numbers using the same loadout and stats etc. It is because he is using weapon taps between powers and is something he doesn't note in this video
Dude you're guides are solid. I dont always follow every recommendation as I dont like to swap loadout etc but I do so knowing I'm not being optimal, and I do grab alot of your suggestions and adapt em to my lazyman loadout lol

Well honestly that depends on how you’d like to play. You can use Everyman Prototype, Dilustel Refractor, or even Eye of Gemini for a 3rd artifact. I’d just say going with eye of Gemini as it’s very effective to spam depending on your artifact level. You can constantly heal back and spam supercharge, you can use pheromone bloom, dash attack, perfect poise or any supercharge that’s constantly spammable. So I’d recommend using Gemini or Everyman for the extra health and defense recovery.
Any power i can use over heat vision i can not afford getting solar flare to anything above 120 at best, right now i do not even have it to 80. Your channel is awesome, that would be my only critique, if you could mention alternative load outs if we can not afford artifacts..especially 200 artifacts. I leveled up an artifact to 200, it took forever or like 80 bucks. Keep on doing great videos, stay safe

the tom bot one of the anniversary bots do as well, and for breakout they all work the same you could have a green one that cost 2 source marks from years ago and it will do the same job
nice video OP loadout ...i have 2 questions. 1 st : why u dont use (not just u ,,all ppl in dcuo) the WM combo brawling> 2handed ? 2nd : why u dont use the venom artifact ,instead of grim ?
1) regular doomspin without WM is stronger and faster than brawling>2handed masteries. 2) the VWD is still good but what some prec dps have found is that now since our CR's are higher and the base damage increases on Grim it is better overall than the VWD which will have higher spike damage. If you have one already leveled its not worth to switch but its just what some are finding now.

So hyped for this. I originally made an atomic tank but I wasn’t a fan of the combos too much so I focused on my second character which was fire and these guides have been a big help. I’ve watched a few on powers I’ve never used before just because of the detail you put into it and also maybe one will make me want to try a new power set. Currently I am looking for one with a really good dps. I’m not a fan of the fire because of all the channels, and also the atomic for similar reasons I don’t fancy the tank side as I’m not sold on the combos. Any suggestions?
Electricity is awesome, it’s got cool animations and a lot of aoe abilities for when you’re running solo missions, electricity can literally spam its supercharge, though you might lag behind damage wise in alerts, there are ways to play around that, also, in raids, you will shine!
Zack Goering You should definitely give it a go, it works good with both prec and might, just keep in mind that if you wanna spam ur supercharge you need the scrap of the soul cloak artifact, it’s an artifact for might only ^^
I see that you no longer keep a slot on the utility belt for personal dampening field, for the fire tank. Are pet/henchmen trinkets better options or is the pdf not a good option anymore?
Hey Obsidian! I'm new to this game and was hoping you could help me out. I'm quadriplegic and can't do a ton of inputs super quickly. I was planning on tanking since I usually tank in mmos with no problems, but in your video I see you jumping all around and clicking on different targets and things and that's very difficult for me. What role do you think has the least quick inputs and which power do you think would be best for me? It doesn't have to be the EASIEST class, just a slower one button-wise.
You don't have to jump as much as I do, I do it so that I don't have Line of Sight issues on npcs so I jump and pull and I can travel further by jump and rolling. It's not necessary to tank like that just how I do it without thinking about it, just muscle memory. Ice may do well for you as its just shield based power wise and then you just tap or hold your weapon if you have to counter. If you tank in other mmo's you'll pick up countering every quickly in this game and ice lends itself better to that playstyle. I have a video on ice that will be a past year but the tanking section is still completely up to date. Atomic is slower one button but its survivability is slightly lower than the other tanks. Rage-Fire-Ice all about the same level
Is it worth using trans card before 200 and I have tetra and soul cloak on now so should I keep them on while I’m levelling strat and trans or swap. Them out when my strat and trans overtake them?

new to tanking will be Ice. It is very forgiving and easy to pick up the basics of a shield rotations and gives you more time to watch for countering mechanics and raid mechanics because of the constant shield usage. It also has the strongest tank crowd control power in resonating gale.
I think I'm going to change my fire tank into earth because i just don't like how fire is just damaged Shields and mitigation & earth just does it better really sad to see were fire tanks are now love this video great work
How much more effective a fire tank would I be after maxing out skill points in health, that I put 100 in restoration then drop 40 in dominance and 40 in might? Hard Light shield and Immolation over Amazonian deflect..?
yes Immolation will be in every build and I would take HLS over deflection as well. You'd still be perfectly fine in that spec as you make up most of your dom from your augments so using skill points to spec restoration is better if you are running like stoke flames and or backdraft.

Yo I just came up with a pretty good might ranged rotation, tell me what you think, from left to right heat vision-mass detonation-spon.combustion-flame cascade(x1)then repeat. It does pretty consistent dmg and can have high peaks to like I got a 151k per 10 sec on 8 target. I’m sitting at 96k might but yeah seems pretty good. I wanted to avoid fireburst cuz didn’t want two interruptable powers . So it’s good consistent. Try it out , cuz I know you said you plan on updating fire . But yeah I’m using solar trans strat of course , oh and forgot, robot sidekick and neo venom for other two powers of course .
How high does strategist have to be leveled to be effective I don’t see myself leveling it to 200 and at the moment I use solar grim and transformation, would your load out work for these arts just as good or should I use different rotation
eh its really 200 unfortunately, because you lose 30% damage if its not at 200 which makes it pretty marginal and you'd gain more damage from using grimnorium instead. 160 is the double proc % as well so that is also a absolute must. It's not a cheap art :(
Just want to try and ask do u think the 2 card artifacts will be beneficial to atomic? I believe it could be but have not been able to test it. Just based off of the free dot from the strategist card ? From purely an artifact standpoint
I understand absorb heat is a channeling move which requires you to be in the animation, but how is it even considered an exploit that you are still receiving healing back when cancelling out of the animation? Clipping/ jump cancelling has been in this game since day one, most prominently HL during it's early days. I understand you're trying to not expose the "secrets"(exploits) of nature, which by the way, isn't a secret to anyone that can search videos or just think outside the box. The fact is the game is currently broken with powers being stronger than others, EoG spam/ abuse, berserk/circuit breaker spam, prec exploits, but why try to hide it? If anything more exposure would probably get these issues fixed sooner than later as this development team isn't keen on acting immediately when it isn't effecting their pockets.
Think about what you just said. You brought up clipping and jump cancelling, tell me one power *ever* where you could jump cancel and still receive the entire damage from the power? Imagine if I could use Heat Vision and jump cancel it after 1 second and still get each large tick of Heat Vision? because that is what is happening with absorb heat. You can cancel out of the power instantly and get the entire full healing benefit as if you were in the channel the entire time, that is the easiest definition of an exploit. When you cancel a power you *cancel* it, when you jump cancel flurry shot you still don't get all the ticks of damage from flurry shot it stops right there, just as when you cancel Absorb Heat it should cancel the healing ticks *which it doesn't*. That would negate the entire point of the channel itself because the entire point of staying in the channel is to have that greater healing.
Also for me trying to level up a alt that's cr259 with only 248 sp atm fire tank, how should I spend my SP? hes skimming atm but I plan to go super speed on him. I also plan to unlock all 518sp off my main, or however many I'm at by the time I'm able to do SP unlocking.
Could you do a fire loadout without Heatvision in it? I know how powerful that is but i have a Ghost Rider and him with Heatvision is looking stupid and im to stupid to make a good loadout XD Please help me Obsidian Chill !!!
One question isn’t the range aoe loadout better cause it do more damage than the melee? Should I only use range aoe because it do more than melee loadout?
How do you get the damage to show every 10 seconds? Mine only shows total damage when the fight is done, which makes it hard to actually see the actual DPS while fighting
Can you do a video of how you would classify each power based on their support role for beginners in that role, like ice is obviously the best for starter tanks and fire is the best for veteran tanks, stuff like that and explain why you place each in each category.
I am in the middle of working on fire, won't use HV in any of the ranged or melee rotations. I only use it on Single target because I don't use absorb heat
its a niche artifact, it's not good enough by itself because after the la mort procs you have to switch out the artifact because its near useless after that. The finisher for might were already buffed so much that la mort isn't really viable but if you have extra XP and nothing else to get it does net you some extra damage.
I don't understand why you would run a breakout trinket, when Quicklime Canister has a 3s cooldown? It's literally the fastest breakout in the game, and you can use it to clip?
my first guide series had footage, this time around since there is more updating I just stick to the relevant changes or the video would be 2 hours long :( I do plan to revisit Fire when I have full tank gear.

Marcellus Fulbright EoG only really works for rage and electric and sometimes earth because of how often they use their supercharges and how good they are compared to other powersets and the cooldown duration
@@ObsidianChill If EoG doesn't build SC then your only trying to pull the 20% and if at 200 the 5% might buff right? Generally speaking we'd build SC at the same rate the difference is instead of the EoG I'd have the Solar using HV so while the Spammer is getting three DoTs I'd have more might, 4 DoTs and higher ST with HV. If say we're comp'n in PCR I'd kill him. He'll get 60k w'out SC 75k with SC while I'm hitting at 75 w'out SC 90k with. The loss in might and that extra DoT would be the difference maker.
Jean Michael top 6/7. Fire is certainly the best tank single target. But nature, celestial, light, gadgets, mental are better. Fire is prob on par with munitions
at that point I wouldn't I would just run amazon deflection iconic. Eternal Flame isn't nearly as strong as it once was and Reignition isn't going to save you from a large hit
All I do is inferno, firey hands, and flame cascade over and over and I usually top dps with that because I’m far enough away from any damage, and I hit multiple targets at once.
I will say trying to run fire tanking on this legion alert elite is a pain it is like every moment with the first boss is an oh shit moment. First boss damn near hits for all your health

Solareius if you don’t cancel AH then there is no problem but a lot of the fire tanks I’ve seen go for a healing build just continually do that

I think the only time I have disagreed with OC is over Celestial. He's admitted that he doesn't really run that power.
But I would never argue with him about other powers. I'm simply not that good with those the way I am with Cele.

The single target rotation is all you need its great for everything not just single target.

VWD can lead to better spike damage but most prec dps feel now that overall the passive damage from grim is more beneficial

Yo I just came up with a pretty good might ranged rotation, tell me what you think, from left to right heat vision-mass detonation-spon.combustion-flame cascade(x1)then repeat. It does pretty consistent dmg and can have high peaks to like I got a 151k per 10 sec on 8 target. I’m sitting at 96k might but yeah seems pretty good. I wanted to avoid fireburst cuz didn’t want two interruptable powers . So it’s good consistent. Try it out , cuz I know you said you plan on updating fire . But yeah I’m using solar trans strat of course , oh and forgot, robot sidekick and neo venom for other two powers of course .

How high does strategist have to be leveled to be effective I don’t see myself leveling it to 200 and at the moment I use solar grim and transformation, would your load out work for these arts just as good or should I use different rotation
eh its really 200 unfortunately, because you lose 30% damage if its not at 200 which makes it pretty marginal and you'd gain more damage from using grimnorium instead. 160 is the double proc % as well so that is also a absolute must. It's not a cheap art :(
Do u consider fire is a strong power for DPS or tank, or you would recommend another one better?
Fire is a strong tank, dps wise its mid-tier. Not bad by any means but there are too many channels for it to be considered top-tier
Just want to try and ask do u think the 2 card artifacts will be beneficial to atomic? I believe it could be but have not been able to test it. Just based off of the free dot from the strategist card ? From purely an artifact standpoint
I wouldn't use strategist with atomic, not enough abilities to crit to proc the strat, its all burst damage.

I understand absorb heat is a channeling move which requires you to be in the animation, but how is it even considered an exploit that you are still receiving healing back when cancelling out of the animation? Clipping/ jump cancelling has been in this game since day one, most prominently HL during it's early days. I understand you're trying to not expose the "secrets"(exploits) of nature, which by the way, isn't a secret to anyone that can search videos or just think outside the box. The fact is the game is currently broken with powers being stronger than others, EoG spam/ abuse, berserk/circuit breaker spam, prec exploits, but why try to hide it? If anything more exposure would probably get these issues fixed sooner than later as this development team isn't keen on acting immediately when it isn't effecting their pockets.
Think about what you just said. You brought up clipping and jump cancelling, tell me one power *ever* where you could jump cancel and still receive the entire damage from the power? Imagine if I could use Heat Vision and jump cancel it after 1 second and still get each large tick of Heat Vision? because that is what is happening with absorb heat. You can cancel out of the power instantly and get the entire full healing benefit as if you were in the channel the entire time, that is the easiest definition of an exploit. When you cancel a power you *cancel* it, when you jump cancel flurry shot you still don't get all the ticks of damage from flurry shot it stops right there, just as when you cancel Absorb Heat it should cancel the healing ticks *which it doesn't*. That would negate the entire point of the channel itself because the entire point of staying in the channel is to have that greater healing.
I use the same ranged load out but I use wildfire over robot sidekick, how much am I missing out on using that loadout?
Also for me trying to level up a alt that's cr259 with only 248 sp atm fire tank, how should I spend my SP? hes skimming atm but I plan to go super speed on him.
I also plan to unlock all 518sp off my main, or however many I'm at by the time I'm able to do SP unlocking.

Where would you rate fire prec vs other top prec powers atm? Anywhere close to say gadgets, electric or water?
How do you get the damage to show every 10 seconds? Mine only shows total damage when the fight is done, which makes it hard to actually see the actual DPS while fighting
it's in your gameplay settings, it will say parser interval and you can pick 10-30-60 and yours right now is set to Out of Combat.

Can you please add substitutions for heat vision in your videos? I've been trying to find loadouts for my alts.
Can you do a video of how you would classify each power based on their support role for beginners in that role, like ice is obviously the best for starter tanks and fire is the best for veteran tanks, stuff like that and explain why you place each in each category.

I am in the middle of working on fire, won't use HV in any of the ranged or melee rotations. I only use it on Single target because I don't use absorb heat

I noticed u recommended la mort card is it viable to level it now?
its a niche artifact, it's not good enough by itself because after the la mort procs you have to switch out the artifact because its near useless after that. The finisher for might were already buffed so much that la mort isn't really viable but if you have extra XP and nothing else to get it does net you some extra damage.

I don't understand why you would run a breakout trinket, when Quicklime Canister has a 3s cooldown? It's literally the fastest breakout in the game, and you can use it to clip?
No stats, for sure - but all the breakout trinkets have minimal stats anyway? And I'd prefer the reliability over those small stats.

my first guide series had footage, this time around since there is more updating I just stick to the relevant changes or the video would be 2 hours long :( I do plan to revisit Fire when I have full tank gear.

Solar Amp is a must have with the Strat/Trans for almost every powerset. Ive tried to explain that to people but they love the EoG spam smh.
Marcellus Fulbright EoG only really works for rage and electric and sometimes earth because of how often they use their supercharges and how good they are compared to other powersets and the cooldown duration
@@ObsidianChill If EoG doesn't build SC then your only trying to pull the 20% and if at 200 the 5% might buff right? Generally speaking we'd build SC at the same rate the difference is instead of the EoG I'd have the Solar using HV so while the Spammer is getting three DoTs I'd have more might, 4 DoTs and higher ST with HV. If say we're comp'n in PCR I'd kill him. He'll get 60k w'out SC 75k with SC while I'm hitting at 75 w'out SC 90k with. The loss in might and that extra DoT would be the difference maker.

Jean Michael top 6/7. Fire is certainly the best tank single target. But nature, celestial, light, gadgets, mental are better. Fire is prob on par with munitions

at that point I wouldn't I would just run amazon deflection iconic. Eternal Flame isn't nearly as strong as it once was and Reignition isn't going to save you from a large hit

All I do is inferno, firey hands, and flame cascade over and over and I usually top dps with that because I’m far enough away from any damage, and I hit multiple targets at once.

rage does best when you can melee, fire is more well rounded with range, melee and single target. So just depends what content you play.
