Hi sir . I want to upgrade from my canon 77d that i am using for over 4 years . I want a camera that can handle professional video works like short films, weddings, events etc. Is this camera good enough for that purpose paired with Signa crop lenses ?? I would go with lumix s5 ii if budget was not the factor. So is it good enough ?? Please reply sir
@@vanoizvanoiz8976 depends on what kind of shoot u do .. if u go out in rain then u need a sealed one if u use it everyday then xs20 might be better .. How are the video specs of these two cameras compared to each other
I preordered the X-S20 and mentally spent the USD1300. Then I got cold feet because of weather-sealing, so I mentally spent just USD400 more and got the X-T5. It is wonderful and I'm pleased with my choice. I originally chose the S20 because of the mode dial, allowing me to alternate quickly between two heavily used groups of custom settings, one for birds-in-flight and one for perched birds. The T5 has a feature that replicates this: Recall Custom 1. I can roam with my camera set anyway I prefer and, when I spot a bird-in-flight, I press the function button assigned to that feature and I'm instantly close to where I need to be. Pressing the function button a 2nd time returns the camera to its earlier state. Well done, Fuji. One other note about a feature I was concerned about: the shutter dial. I thought that I'd be switching between setting my shutter or using a command dial. In fact, the camera is better than that. Once you set a SS with the shutter dial, you can still use the command dial to speed/slow by two increments in each direction. When I enter a shooting situation, I can get close with the shutter dial, and then use the command dial to modify as needed. Again, well done, Fuji. The only feature of the T5 that I don't love yet is the focus switch on the front of the camera. I shoot in continuous focus a lot more than I'd like.
I just got the X-S20. I have an X-S10 which I like but the better battery, grip, and other changes interested me. I also have the Xt-5 but I like the compactness of the XS series.
I bought the S20 last week. I chose it because I plan for it to be my travel camera. It's roughly the size of my E3 and has the features like IBIS and extra battery life of my gripped H1. I've been very pleased so far, but I'd like to foot stomp your recommendation to get the cooling fan for anyone planning to do video. I did not, I'm in central Georgia US and we're running 34c or higher consistently. I've been shooting test footage and even at 4k I'm getting a high temp warning after shooting short clips after 15 or so minutes. I've ordered a fan that will arrive in a few days.
I wanted to have a flippy screen but with the latest autofocus ability. That's why I had the XH2 as the option but the 40 MP didn't appeal too much due to the high signal to noise issue along with no use of the 8k and the huge file sizes. Thus the XS20 is an ideal buy 2 months later.
Hey mate, thanks for connecting. Exactly for a lot of people 8k and 40mp is too much. The XS20 hits a sweet spot for resolutions and power in terms of processor.
Very good video. It is good to see a review of this camera that concentrates on wildlife and landscapes. It is a small and light camera with very good autofocus and is extremely capable. I will probably buy the X-S20 for wildlife, landscape, eclipse, night sky, macro, architectural building photography, almost everything apart from photographing people and doing vlogging.
Hi there. I'm late to the party - just coming back to photography and just finding Fuji. What a good time to come back. Good points in your video and wonder now - August 2024 - if you believe this is still a compelling small body Fuji. It has many features of the X-T50 except the 40mp sensor, yet is better that the X-T50 in a few features and user niceties, especially as a photography camera. Would this be on your wish list as a small body travel/family/photo/video Fuji? Thanks
I don't think the X-H2s is going to give you much if any real world autofocus advantage. Even with the old firmware, the X-H2 performed pretty much exactly the same in side by side tests, and cameras from Canon or Sony also got better autofocus despite not having stacked sensors. I feel like Fuji's software is nowhere near maxing out what you can achieve with non-stacked sensors.
Hey Verm! Thanks for connecting. I think it depends on what you’re looking to achieve. Amateur photographers won’t see much of a difference but might not be using the camera’s in a situation that would make a difference. For pros I’d pay a lot more for each advantage even if small if it makes my life easier and ensures I get the shot for client or myself. I own XH2, XH2S and have tested XS20. XH2S is noticeably better for tracking. Initially subject detection is roughly the same. Appreciate your comments and hope you have a great weekend 😊
Thanks Bernie, another Fuji X series to consider along with a XH2 & XT5, all I need now is the news of a Xpro 4 to really throw a spanner in the works!
This seems like a great "all round" camera. What do you think will be next for this series? Fugi is being bashed recently for focus problems. What has been your experience with this camera - especially with continuous focus and tracking?
I am a hobbyist wildlife photographer, mainly shooting birds. The new battery would be nice but I'm really interested in bird autofocus. I toss away a lot of misses with my X-S10. I'm trying to decide if the upgraded autofocus is worth the price. My initial reaction to the announcement is that most of the new goodies aren't useful to me. (If the darn thing were weather-sealed, it'd be a no brainer!) I wonder how other wildlife still photo hobbyists are deciding whether or not to upgrade.
Hey mark! Thanks for connecting. I used the XS10 years ago and did the Fujifilm NZ launch event for it. Much of what I was shooting where gannets. There’s a big difference in autofocus for wildlife over XS10. Plus with the new processor you’ll benefit from the advances in firmware to come. Let me know if you have any questions or want to see something else in another video.
In the end, I upgraded to the X-T5. I have an upcoming trip to the Ecuadorian cloud forest and, having once lost a camera to sea spray, I was put off by the lack of weather sealing. Also, I crop a ton and felt the 40mp sensor would be helpful. I am totally satisfied with the T5, except for the idiot behind the camera.
Very interested in the slow motion performance at FHD 1080p 240fps. Is it genuine 1080p or is it 720p? Is 240fps autofocus or Manual focus only? Is slow motion 10-bit or 8-bit? Since the X-S20 wont be available until June, am trying to find out now what the slow motion 240fps really is. Many cameras advertise 240fps as being 1080 but they really produce only 720p or 880p. Thank you.
I think also that the price is to high. You can geht the T5 new for 1609€ here in Germany. Do you think that the updated autofocus from the T5 is also good for wildlife? Only 200€ difference for a much better camera (40mp, water resistent….)
Do you think the bird detect is better than the xt5 ? It seems faster and more accurate due to lower megapixels ? I have xt5 with 70 300 and I get mixed results
Hey there, It has the same processor and AF algorithm. It would be very similar. I can't see resolution being a factor in the equation. Make sure you have updated firmware on XT5 as they have refined the AF over the last 6 months.
Thank you for the video. In the US the X-s20 with the xf18-45 sells for roughly $1699 and the X-H2 with the kit lens 16-80, sells for $2399. For a person predominately shooting stills and wildlife/bird photography would you say that there is a $600 increased difference/improvement in picture quality, AF/ eye Af, Tracking etc? Can you confidently recommended this camera for wildlife/bird photography and have you had an issue with the lower 8mps for such shooting?
I wonder that the weather sealed is really mattered from your experience using XS10? like use in a rainy day? and I saw the picture comparison between XT5 and XS20.. it seems that XS20 is a bit brighter and XT5 is more 'vivid' ?
I’m curious how much better this will track wildlife. Recently picked up the 150-600. Got a few good pictures of eagles with the X-S10 but missed a lot more. A lot of user error
The subject detection works really well and is a huge help, in my opinion. I went from X-S10 to X-H2 and wouldn't want to shoot without this feature now. I thinks the X-S20 is a worthy upgrade.
Verm said it perfectly. Once you go subject detection it’s hard to go back. XS20 will make your life easier but you’ll improve no matter which camera you use as long as you get out a bit. The XF150-600 is a stunning lens tho 👌
Great video! :) Been using the XS20 for a few days now and found out there's no audio for footages I shot on 4K60p. Does anyone know how to fix this (if even possible)? Thanks!
I keep looking at the pictures from an EOS r8 and a 5d Mark III to compare against this x-s20. I like the idea of a nice APS-C camera with the IBIS and good all round glass at very reasonable costs but I can't get over the feeling of depth or the DOF the images are giving me. I can't tell if its just my head but I have asked people how they feel about certain hallway shots and most agree that the full frame photos evoke a more natural feel of depth. If you can show me samples or a good side by side comparison of some depth shots to prove that fuji has nailed it when it comes to that creamy depth it would really help me finalize my purchase. Otherwise I might just get the sony a7IV or the Fx 3 to get that IBIS and feel of depth im looking for
The full frame gets you better depth of field but they are A LOT heavier. The 5D Mark 3 is more than double the weight of the Fuji. They are geared at professionals, not travelers. Sure, you can travel with them, but they are heavy, both the body as well as the lenses, especially zoom lenses. It's kind of like comparing a 1kg ultra-thin notebook to a 2.5kg gaming laptop, they both come with pros and cons.
Hey Chris, thanks for connecting. Yeah fair call. Many were hoping for same price point as XS10. Let’s hope people are happy with their purchase if they decide to take the plunge. Enjoy your weekend 👍
