There is something so satisfying about making staple items that you know you will wear over and over again. It feels like a really worthwhile wardrobe investment. I loved the ivory fabric you used for one of your turtlenecks; it goes to show that staples can still be special!
Yes! That is exactly how I feel! So glad you liked them as well. I still have a bit of that ivory fabric left and I’m toying with how I can put it to use, it’s too good to waste a single scrap haha.
These are really beautiful. I wouldn't recommend using a french seam or seam binding on a knit fabric though. It adds too much bulk and you really don't need to worry about it unraveling. It can also really reduce the amount of stretch you have.
Thank you! Thanks so much for the tip! Luckily these methods worked out for me this time, but I’m getting my new serger set up for any future knitwear projects. 😊👏🏼
Thanks for sharing your sew-alongs! It makes a nice change to see basics in plain colours being made instead of patterned garments that so many UA-camrs do. You did a fantastic job sewing in those somewhat difficult fabrics and the styling looks super cute. I actually particularly like that you show how you can style your makes in all the different ways!
Thanks for sharing your pretty makes - you did an excellent job on them all. Really liked the way you styled them as well. Keep up the good work, cheers!
I love the dark academia styling you did, these came out so nice! Also I'm pretty sure knit fabrics don't fray so technically you don't have to finish the seams, you can do an overlock stitch like you did and not worry about bulk.
As a natural fiber enthusiast myself, there's a thing I've discovered, that changed my perspective on natural/synthetic blends It especially important for knits The thing is if your knit is 100% cotton, without spandex of any kind, it will stretch pretty nicely, but it won't come back fully to the original shape after it's stretched So you clothes will be rather stretched after several wears. It was rather odd for me to accept but if it's a knit, spandex blend (like cotton/spandex 96/4 or 98/2 - really tiny amount) is actually better and more durable and the clothes are still breathable and comfortable as 100% cotton The same thing can be said about some woven fabric blends For example, wool with a little bit of poly can make the fabric a bit stronger and it won't peel as batld as it might So the main takeaway is that synthetic fibers were created to enhance the quality of natural fibers and if added in tiny proportions can make fabric better and it'll lasts longer
As for knits with cotton/poly/spandex blend - if poly is added like in 12-15% it's actually makes the fabric less creasy and less in demand of an iron all the time And it'll still have all the good stuff from the natural fibers
Very very nice makes! I love making turtlenecks. My favorite go to pattern is Burda 6990. It has 5 different views. You did an awesome job on yours along with the skirt. I like how you styled them. Always enjoy your videos 🪡👗🧵🥰
Thank you! I actually did a whole video on which machine to start with and which tools to buy check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/YG6nftvQwyg/v-deo.html :) Hope it helps!
I swear we are on the same wavelength!! Ever since I discovered we have the same birthday and we both posted a 2 part birthday dress video, I noticed how similar some of our video ideas were! And like we'd even post around the same time sometimes with a similar idea or trend haha! That being said, I LEGIT made a turtleneck for the first time a couple weeks ago for a video, but then made some big decisions for my channel moving forward so took a break to sort that out and didn't finish the video but I was going to add a potential skirt and make a cute winter outfit. I also wanted to make a second turtleneck because I didn't like the first one's fabric and made that second one today. I'm loading my footage thinking okay I need to just edit and get things sorted while I still prep my big change I'm making. I decided to not do the skirt though for mine. BUT I am watching your video while I wait for footage to load and was so SHOCKED you made two turtlenecks and a skirt! How crazy! I will say I ADORE your fabric choice way more than what I had on hand haha. And you did lovely and look amazing in it! Also I LOVE your black top you wore in the beginning half of the video. Did you make it?? Anyway, I hope this doesn't come across wrong at all! It was so many coincidences I was like is it 'cause we're birthday twins??? hehehe :) I'm excited for Valentine's Day and have a few video ideas for it. I'll be excited if you're doing a vday dress or something!! Keep it up! :)
Aw birthday twin! I absolutely agree we are totally on the same wavelength! I have noticed also and I agree it's the birthday twin magic haha. The turtleneck one is especially funny, because it was a totally random idea for me also haha. I'm sure yours turned out beautifully as always, I'm headed to watch your video after I write this comment! :) As for the black top I was wearing unfortunately I didn't make it, I've had it since before I started sewing but I think it would be a super easy one to replicate. I got it at Norstrom years ago (I want to say it's FreePeople but can't quite remember). I'll look forward to your V-Day content as well! I'm hoping to make a dress but might stray off into a top or pants. We'll see what kind of time I have haha. Love seeing all your creations & can't wait to see what other beautiful things you make! :)
@@CaitMakes now I’m going to be looking out for your videos to see how often our random ideas sync up as time goes on! Haha. I’ve been a little slower lately but hopefully it’ll pick up once I get a couple things behind the scenes sorted. Also replicating that shirt would be a great idea if you ever have time for that! :) And aww thank you!! Likewise!
Good job!! I don’t mind blends, as long as it is not 100% Poly. Poly makes me stinky sweat. 🫣 Your items looked very professional and fitted you perfectly. ❤🥰👍
Ah thank you! Haha yes natural fibers are always the best in my book, but sometimes you just need a blend. Thank you so much & thanks for watching! 😊❤️
You are young and lively! Enjoy every minute!

Aw thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed watching!! 😊 I was nervous about the styling element, so I highly appreciate the compliment 😊❤️

I just subscribed to you, the algorithm brought me here. I like how you approach sewing and it is nice to watch you create!
Aw thank you so much, so happy to have you here! 😊❤️

Aw thank you! You are absolutely right! I got way too focused on making the inside look "clean" and forgot that little detail haha. Next time! :)

These pieces look amazing 😊
Thanks so much! 😊❤️
I love your videos !!!
What machine would you recommend me if I starting ??
Thank you! I actually did a whole video on which machine to start with and which tools to buy check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/YG6nftvQwyg/v-deo.html :) Hope it helps!
What sewing foot would you recommend for this project? I love your videos!
I just used the standard sewing foot that my machine came for. Thanks so much & hope your projects are going well for you! 😊❤️❤️
That cream knit fabric is lovely!! Where did you find it?
Thank you, I love it as well 😊 I got it at Joann’s.
