- The original DJI Mini series, including Mini 2 and Mini SE, is still very popular among beginners and for good reason. These are fantastic drones.
Crashes can happen to anyone and one of the most vulnerable areas of the drone is the gimbal assembly.
Today we’re going to take a look inside the drone as I show you how to repair a torn ribbon cable. I guide you through the entire process, step by step, also replacing the gimbal mounts during the repair. If you want to repair your own drone, this video can help a great deal.
You can support this channel by donating your severely damaged drone.

Sir !!!! This is an excellent video. We have been using this drone to help film our house build. Had a little mishap and couldn’t figure out why the gimbal wouldn’t move, he lies the problem. Your video was extremely easy to follow and very, very helpful! I’m pretty mechanically inclined, but I don’t like pulling on thin pieces of plastic, especially when they feel like they are going to break. You’ve gained a new subscriber for sure.😊🎉
Thank you. I'm glad it helped 🙂
Thanks for sharing the repair!
No worries, hope it helped in some way 🙂
Good job on fixing your Mini 2 and sharing the process, very helpful.👍
Thank you 🙂
Why do you have to do so much when only one cabel is broken?
I see so many cases of this ribbon snapping in the Mini 2 (including mine), that it seems to be a design flaw.
Also, I did this ribbon repair on my Mini 2 and it said I needed a firmware update. I think I am going to look at other brands if I want a new drone.
Recently had to do this repair on my mini 2 as well. From looking at it before taking the cable out I think the rubber gimbal mounts are allowing too much movement potentially due to the rubber stretching with age. Mine is at about 3 yrs old now. While I was replacing the cable I replaced the rubber gimbal mounts and the new ones are a lot firmer and don’t allow as much movement.
Nice job quick question what kind of filter are you using on this video
For the drone, I have a basic set of ND filters from Amazon. No other filters were used.
Wow, I consider myself very handy, but I’m not sure if I would attempt to fix my own mini drone. I think I’m intimidated by the tiny parts. I’ve taken apart my phantom 4 back in the days, and that was a bit of a challenge.
You did a great job. You explained everything well 🏆.
Take care ✌️😎
Thank you. It happened because I really had no budget to pay someone for the repair or another drone. But it worked out well and I'd do it again.
@@TheOneDroneMan I understand and I am glad it worked out.
Heyy The One I got a dji mini 3 pro if you’re interested or any one it’s water damage I been in lake Powell it’s been in the water for 30 minutes !
