Hey guys, congrats on the new Jeep! Been a long time follower. I’m a mechanic here and just want to chime in about the shocks recommendation from Firestone. You may not need new shocks if the car is riding fine with no noise or issues. Many shops try to “up sell” their customers for more profits so be careful. Bad shocks will generally have these symptoms: unusual noise, rough ride (bouncy), ride too soft (like a boat), nose dive when braking, uneven tire wear, or visibly be leaking fluid from the shocks (light seep of fluid is still generally ok). Hope that helps and always feel free to reach out to me if you ever have questions! Love the interior of the jeep btw! The seats look like it's still in great shape for the age!
I have owned a Jeep Tj like this UA-camr, no amount of great shocks will make the Jeep Tj smooth. Maybe if she does a lift kit and shocks. Looks like she has a Sahara edition. The squeel could just be you need a new belt. She's also got a 4.0L inline straight 6. The engines are bulletproof if she does regular maintenance. Also, she should definitely use a spout for the oil change, I always spill without.
@@directedbydon Agreed. Bought my Jeep TJ last year, changed the shocks to OMEs and they helped but it will always be a bumpy ride since it's a Jeep haha
I actually have a 95 yj wrangler and I love it to death ( I’m 15 but, my parents got a loan and I pay them monthly 100$) it’s not in the best condition but I love it sooo much, there’s so many things I want to buy for it and seeing someone else happy with an old jeep makes me happy!
This vlog kept me smiling ear to ear just seeing how euphoric you were throughout the video from getting the car to detailing it to showing us a tour of its finished look!! Also, we love a strong, independent woman who learns how to take care of car matters! Love you guys so much ❤
Yeah, sames, there is so much joy from getting one of these, also amazing how something breaks, still runs, and it’s great to see someone not get frustrated and just enjoy the challenge. My Jeep’s brake lines rusted out, I built all new brake lines, very challenging, in the end, the nipples were so rusted out, had to take it to the shop to get it all installed.
@@hoflungdung111 This person has zero Idea what they are talking about. Please tell us what is so bad about a jeep? What most people complain about is what us wrangler owners love. Love seeing how you and Wah work together and support each other! The Jeep is so cute and it was fun and interesting to watch how you guys clean and fix it up. Can't wait to see more videos from you!
Welcome to Jeep life...I own an 03 TJ myself. Despite all of its flaws and frustrations, I will never get rid of it. The best thing about an older Jeep is all of the aftermarket support. One can literally make it into whatever you want it to be. Have fun!!
UA-cam algorithm sent me here. You got yourself a pretty spotless Wrangler! The 4.0L in them will last you forever if properly taken care of. Along with the shocks, do replace the front steering stabilizer, basically the horizontal shock upfront by the front differential. Replacing this and checking your front ball joints should help eliminate that wobble you mentioned earlier. :)
So cool seeing the joy on her face when she got her jeep. Also kudos for her being so DIY with it and learning all the stuff to take care of the jeep!!
I love when you document your passion projects, especially the car projects. Inspires me to do one. Can’t wait too see the further content about your Jeep :)
It looks like it was well maintained & now that it’s with you guys, she’s going to get some extra care! Really nice Jeep. I just purchased my first one back in February, ‘14 Sahara & I’m obsessed with it. Wish I had a partner to help do some of these things, looks fun to work on it together.
So happy to see you this happy, Weylie! My first car was a Jeep and I miss her. As someone who bought a van from the 70s, I totally relate to those questionable noises and "hmm!" moments looking under the hood. 😂 Can't wait to see more of your adventures in this beauty! 💕
As a dad my head exploded when you guys didn't immediately replace that belt, but I'm glad you guys got home safe. Wrenching on your Jeep is half the fun! Enjoy!
I absolutely loved this whole video. Seeing you so excited to get the Jeep, then all the love and care you both took to clean and take care of it really made me smile.
Love this. Getting a new (to you) Jeep is so exciting. I love that even a 23 year old TJ can provide this much joy for someone. Great vehicles and great memories!
I loved this video because your emotions seemed so genuine. As a long time viewer, I understand that you will grow older with new interests and hopefully the other viewers can learn to understand that as well. I also find myself interested in new hobbies and taking on new projects as time goes on. Please continue to upload content YOU are interested in, as viewers can tell you are putting your best work online when you're genuinely enthusiastic about the project at hand. My BF says building ikea furniture is a true testament to how well we communicate as partners lol.
Congrats on your new JEEP!! As a fellow Jeep owner I’m so excited you’re now a Jeep girly. 🥰 Your 2000 Wrangler is so beautiful!! Can’t wait to see how you make it your own.
Love it Weylie! So cool to see a youtuber with a real personality and interests. It’s refreshing g that you didn’t just buy a new car off the lot and you did all the work and maintenance yourself! Very relatable and relaxing to watch. keep being YOU! Much love ❤️
I love that both of you guys are so handy and willing to put your hands to work. It really inspires me, as a woman, to learn how to do these sort of things too!
TJ’s a good choice for the first Jeep….enjoy it! Learning to do the work yourself can be frustrating at first, but if you ever off road, you will be using that experience from time to time… Rod Stewart!!! WOW! Priceless. Your rich! 😂
I love this video! It’s inspiring to see y’all work on the Jeep. I’m no car girlie but I recently changed my license plate lights and air filters and I felt so accomplished even though it’s probably easy and not a big deal to others. Props to you both for spending hours on your new baby! Can’t wait to see your adventures with it!!
7:12 Ok being a Jeep owner myself I was already enjoying the video through your excitement. But then I saw that you guys have a Vanagon too! Literally my 2 favorite vehicles! I Have a 2003 TJ and had (was forced to sell) an 82 Westfalia camper van. 10:44 HA! I called that out when you stopped on the road and heard the loud noise. Bad belt tensioner bearings.
You are so inspiring! You may not think so, but man the content you and Wah put out blows me away every time! You are very hands-on and explorative! I love that and I'm working on it, putting myself out there and all. I hope your Jeep journey is smooth riding now that you've tuned it up a bit. I can't wait to see what journeys lie ahead!!🤩
I've never seen a more inspired video!😊 You can just tell love at first sight with a car! It is contagious, it really is. Some people may not understand purchasing a particular car if it's old or something but it's special to you. There's sentimental value there and it makes you happy! That's what counts!!!🤗
I was NOT prepared for that skeleton. Yeah you did warn us but I was still curious/intrigued. After seeing it, I have so many more questions... "how'd it get there?!", "why didn't it escape?!", "did no one ask why the passenger was croaking?!". Congrats on the Jeep! It looks brand, spankin' new after all the work you guys did. Super cool to see old cars get a new lease on life :) That little nod to Suite Life. #nostalgia AHMM and FHMMM
I don’t think I’ve ever commented before, but I just wanted you to know that I loved this video. I could sense your excitement and found it particularly endearing that your partner was there helping you all along the way. Congrats on your Jeep.
came back to your channel after a long time! I used to watch you for beauty content as another canto beauty enthusiast and now to see you getting into cars is so cool! I only recently became interested in them after a friend taught me the basics of manual driving, and I wanted to just say how I like that your content has always been fresh and true to your passions. Love you weylie
Almost a year ago now. I got my first ever car. Which is a 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ manual stick shift. And it is very dusty and falling apart compared to yours, but it is honestly a dream car of mine, and you found such a good one in such good shape! I love Jeeps❤
Watching this makes me really want to try working on my car (like doing basic stuff like an oil change) but I've always been so intimidated! This was so fun to watch😊 congrats on your new car Weylie!!! Also, dying for the link for that carpet cleaner hahahah
You're both so handy! Always admire people tackling DIY projects as I get too intimidated and just end up hiring someone else to do it. Congrats on the Jeep - you did such a great job!
Hi Weylie! I’m the girl that met you and Wah at the mall today! It was so nice to see you guys. I’ve been watching you since high school and I’m now a mom in my 30s. I wish I talked to you a bit more but honestly I was so shocked when I saw you. & I’m a very shy person. I felt like I saw a celebrity so I had to be courageous😅 Oh, and you’re so pretty! 💕
LONG time follower here. LOVED this video. I just bought a 2023 Jeep Wangler 4xe and absolutely love it! Being a JEEP girl is a blast! Safe travels pretty girl!
My first jeep was a 1998 moss green sahara with that same interior purchased in 2001 in Charleston, SC. That was a phenomenal reliable and safe jeep and served me well for many years and oh by the way is still on the road in summersville, WV. I've experienced all of the recent generations (currently have diesel gladiator) including JK/JL -you can't beat what the simple TJ 4.0 sahara models offer. Enjoy your new to you Jeep TJ!
This was actually one of my favorite vidoes you have made! I love seeing the sweet & loving connection you all have. It also made me feel motivated to learn how to fix things on my own car.
I remember the absolutely extraordinary feeling I had when I got my first TJ almost 4 years ago. Its almost magical, and this is before a person even has any idea what a Jeep can really do, especially an old one. I had never really pined for one as much as I was curious about them. Found myself in a spot where I needed a new ride, I didnt want another giant bro truck but I wanted something with 4x4 for around $10k, so I looked at a TJ. The first time I drove it I felt like "this is the thing that has been missing from my life." Ill do everything in my power to ensure that I will have one of these for the rest of my life. If you love that Jeep and make sure it knows, it will literally love you back. Super reliable if they are maintained and not overly abused, which they will tolerate a lot of.
Yes. Loved it. I owned that jeep, that color, Sahara. Exactly. SInce 1999. Love that you love it!!! Now Ive got a new 2 door wrangler plus a Bronco too! HAVE FUN!!!! Thanks.
Love watching you document your jeep build! To me it's great content and it's so fun to see someone love their jeep as much as I love mine. I have a 1998 TJ.
Make sure to change both the rear/front differential oils( the pumpkin shaped orbs in the front and rear axles) every 15000 miles. Refer to the owners manual for oil type, can be done at home. Doesn't take too long, congrats on your new jeep :)
Love that you've found something to keep you and Wah entertained! Literally the best having your partner also be your best friend to do things with like this ❤️ My husband has been obsessed with yard work, and I've been restoring an oak table so we know the same feeling and emotions you've both felt because of the Jeep ❤
Love it. Love that you were able to take out the seats and console and clean it, looks like new. You didn't say how many miles it has on it. Love that you did your own oil change and whatever that was you put on the back. The more you know how to do yourself the more money you save. love it. thank you forsharing this with us.
Weylie, stay true to your vision on what you want to share on your channel. We're growing and learning with you. I love seeing this content. Congrats on your dream car!
I love how you guys cleaned it yourself and did some work on it yourselves instead of taking it in and getting it professionally cleaned and taken care of. Shows the real work it takes in having and owning a car! If you agree 👇
It's really nice to see you smiling from the heart Weylie!! And I love how Wah is supportive throughout! Couple goals! Love to see your trips wishing I could do this with my husband too. You deserve all the love you've been getting Weylie! Sending extra love from the Philippines and Congratulations on your New Baby - Jeep! 🎉❤😘
A few years ago I bought an ‘04. Roll up windows, soft top, stick. It has some rust and a bit of “death wobble”, but I just love it. It’s red like in a Hallmark Movie. Stupid fun. Have fun.
So so cute! Congratulations Weylie, you deserve it gorl! IDK anything about cars but this was so interesting and refreshing to me somehow, haha! Love that Wah cares so much and helps u out with stuff like this...literally goals! xoxo
Congratulations. I have a 2003 TJ 4.0 liter since new. I love it and despite some flaws will never get rid of it. 163,300+ miles since new. About the shaking when driving, it may be the Jeep death wobble. From experience, go to a reputable 4X4 shop, not Firestone for the best repair solution. I wasted time and money with people that did not know what they were doing but once I found a good shop, 4X4Parts it got fixed correctly, including replacing a badly installed lift.
Late to the party, but congrats on the Jeep!! More importantly, I LOVE your energy and attitude for all of this. It really inspires me to just be grateful for things and to find joy in everything ❤🎉
I really enjoyed this video. It made me happy seeing Weylie so happy to get her dream car. Plus, you guys are honestly couple goals! So supportive of one another. I definitely would enjoy my boyfriend teaching me how to maintain my car, awesome bonding time - and you learn a good life skill! P.S. Weylie was so cute when she saw the skeleton and says "But it's legs are like this" - *raises leg*
Fun to watch someone enjoy doing something just for the experience of doing it. Even when the belt came apart, no freakout, just a "it will be okay, we'll figure it out".
What a beautiful job with the restoration! I felt like I was there with you guys every step of the journey. I could breath with confidence now lol. I was holding my breath when you said it was dusty 😂
Feeling so old now. I bought my 2000 Jeep TJ Sahara brand new in 2000 and have been using it as a daily driver ever since. Not as nice as yours but still runs great and the interior is the same color as yours. It holds up well. They are great vehicles. Enjoy.
After mucking around cars for over 40 years. I find this video interesting, Love to see people taking care of old cars that are neat and tidy . One of my daily drives is a 40 years old MGB roadster. I just smile from the base of my heart every minute in the MG Honestly the MG is a very troublesome car and after over 20 years of reownership , I am still learning to live her everyday. It's now 6 am again time to take her ou for a spin!
Did you buy this jeep from a certified seller? Always buy from a certified seller, because they hand you a list of things that are wrong with the car, past accidents, things that were replaced... it seems like you found a seller of this car and discover problems on the way which ends up being super costly
So cool how you bought the jeep and it's your new DIY project that will bring you on fun adventures :) lovely to see how passionate you and Wah are about cars and solo camping trips and how you can tackle car problems together with grace and laughter.
This is one of the most versatile, capable and fun vehicles ever made and the TJ is the last real jeep. Its an absolute blast to drive in city and hwy traffic, handles like a sports car on country roads with the top off and is amazing off road.
Welcome to Jeep life! Great vid and I share your excitement and enthusiasm. Like you, my Jeep was my dream car (not a Ferrari or Porsche). It truly is a way of life and I think the two of you will enjoy wheeling, camping and wrenching on your Jeep. A couple of things, though, for your viewers and for you, too, in the future. Whenever you purchase a used vehicle, have it inspected (if you're handy and confident in your mechanical and diagnostic skills, you can do it yourself) by a mechanic. I, personally, would not have taken that long a road trip without having my belts and hoses inspected, brakes inspected, oil changed (engine and transmission) and an OBDII code reading. Also, carry a basic tool kit with some extra fuses, tire pressure gauge, portable battery jumper, portable air compressor, high temp tape, gaskets and clamps to do on the spot hose repairs, extra belts, and at least a quart of oil and some coolant. And carry another bag with a hat, sweatshirt or jacket, sun block, insect repellent, and a blanket just in case. The TJ Sahara is a beautiful Jeep and I love the extra factory body cladding. Keep it stock or lifted and either way, it will look great. Get a bikini top and tonneau cover for your rig when you take the top off. If you haven't tried driving with the top and doors off, you're in for a big surprise (and addiction!).
Loved seeing how happy your new Jeep makes you. I bought my 2000 Jeep TJ in red last year in Florida and drove it home to Wisconsin. It was a fun road trip with the top down.
The way I laughed when you were putting on the steering wheel cover HAHAHA i also put one on mine a few days ago and I was sweating trying to put it on HAHAHAHA
From an old jeeper guy who has owned several jeeps and does all my own mechanic-ing... I just wanted to let you know I enjoyed your video very much. Great seeing you doing as much work on your own as you could. That jeep's got a great engine in it! All you need now is a couple lockers, a new suspension with lift, some larger ties and you can join us out on the rocks.
NIce presentation, music, transitions were uncomplicated which I like. Your smile and interactions with each other is what makes these so successful. You truly look relaxed and happy reinvigorating you Jeep. I just bought my 1st Jeep JK (2012 Rubicon 2D) as a 3rd vehicle for day trips like mountainbiking and skiing. I may do some light offroading, but I've kinda done that to death in a previous life. Anyway, I went through the same deep cleaning and simple upgrades, tires, lights, stereo and some stickers to make it mine. I removed the rear seat completely which makes a 2 door much more functiobnal. Good luck with your new toy. Looking forward to your upcoming adventure vids.
Those things Jeep TJs, well any Jeeps, are timeless. I cannot believe you made it home with no serpentine belt and tensioner. Wow! Jeep seats made to get wet. This video was very interesting, incredible and parts were a crack up. Kudos👍👍😎🇺🇸
Had I known this channel exists, I would have offered you my 2005 TJ Sahara edition. Same color and everything (except for the issues you encountered on your jeep). Only difference is that its been owned by my brother thats an automotive detailer and only has ~68,000 miles. Its not for sale anymore as of September, but it was recently on the market for $8.6k. The catch? You would have to go across the country to Virginia to pick it up.
Love this so much! Brings back memories of when my uncle drove me everywhere in his ‘99 Jeep Cherokee - manually rolling down the windows and static-y radio of Chinese news on 1400 AM and 80s/90s music on 96.5 FM KOIT.

welcome to the jeep squad!! Don't be alarmed when other jeepers wave at you, it's just our thing!! ahaha I hope you enjoy the heck out of it! I love yours sooo much, I've been watching to change the top of my jeep to a tan instead of black!
Congrats on this beautiful find! The TJ is considered by many the last "real/true" Wrangler. So nice to see you gus bring it back to life with that thorough detail! Before you start venturing, change all fluids (coolant, transfer case, transmission, power steering, brakes, and axles), plus make sure the brake pads are in good condition. Looking forward to your adventure videos in this TJ Sahara! Thanks for sharing this experience with us.

Congrats, Weylie! Could you and or Wah film a video with your absolute must-haves/ favorite items for camping? I would love to see that! :)
This was actually one of my favorite vidoes you have made! I love seeing the sweet & loving connection you all have. It also made me feel motivated to learn how to fix things on my own car.
This is my dream car as well. Seeing y’all do the repairs and stuff makes me more confident that I will have one of those. So happy for you!😊
ITS NOT A CAR
What a beautiful car! So amazing to see you both work so hard to make it right for you. Hope it takes all of you on some fantastic journeys!
Yes. Loved it. I owned that jeep, that color, Sahara. Exactly. SInce 1999. Love that you love it!!! Now Ive got a new 2 door wrangler plus a Bronco too! HAVE FUN!!!! Thanks.
watching you and wah work together literally made me so happy 🥺 i loved this video weylie
Welcome to the Jeep Wrangler family, don't forget to wave to all the other Wranglers. Have fun!
Congrats!!!! Welcome to the Jeep family! The "shaky" at 65mph is most likely tire balance issue. Have fun and see you on the trails!
I have a 1997 TJ with 230k miles, these bad boys hold up well. Beat the hell out of it too.
Love that you've found something to keep you and Wah entertained! Literally the best having your partner also be your best friend to do things with like this ❤️ My husband has been obsessed with yard work, and I've been restoring an oak table so we know the same feeling and emotions you've both felt because of the Jeep ❤
Not Wah being the most patient and thorough teacher ever while he’s teaching Weylie. Ugh never have I ever felt so single 🥲
If you agree
👇
Enjoy the jeep! I have a 2000 wrangler sport that I bought new and have been driving since. Nice to see your jeep being so appreciated!
I can’t believe how old I am now, embrace your youth and passion for adventure and all that is new. Congrats on the cool Jeep.
Man that frog really is a jeep kind of guy. Man rode with that thing till the end, died & decomposed.
Feeling so old now. I bought my 2000 Jeep TJ Sahara brand new in 2000 and have been using it as a daily driver ever since. Not as nice as yours but still runs great and the interior is the same color as yours. It holds up well. They are great vehicles. Enjoy.
Sooooo this is why you haven’t been texting me back!!! 🤔😏
pick me up in the new jeep already!! It’s time for the beach!!
LMAO... it's an old Jeep. There are no "certified" sellers for old vehicles. Stop talking out of your butt.
So cool how you bought the jeep and it's your new DIY project that will bring you on fun adventures :) lovely to see how passionate you and Wah are about cars and solo camping trips and how you can tackle car problems together with grace and laughter.
That jeep is a bad vehicle to buy used.
Can't stop smiling at your video seeing you are so happy with your Jeep. Please enjoy and take good care of her.
new car excitement is always the best. just came across this channel. interested to see the progress with the jeep/landcruiser over time.
This is one of the most versatile, capable and fun vehicles ever made and the TJ is the last real jeep. Its an absolute blast to drive in city and hwy traffic, handles like a sports car on country roads with the top off and is amazing off road.
I love your relationship with Wah. This is absolutely beautiful to watch! You both compliment each other so well
Congratulations fellow jeeper! I own a green '98 Sahara. The TJ is the best!
your joy brings me so much joy. im learning so much from you and enjoying the small little things.
I love love love tuning into your projects. It gives me a lot of confidence and inspiration 🥹😭
You forgot to regear if she change tires to 35”
@@joeyrt100 I was thinking 40s.
I am glad the vehicle made it back, always watch your temp. and oil gauge if they are off, pull over immediately, better to tow than blow.
Still a new to me. Mine is a 1949 CJ2A and CJ7 1981. 😁
Love older Jeeps especially when kept unmodified. Hope you keep this one the way it is.
Kudos👍👍😎🇺🇸
Childhood memory unlocked with the PRNDL
I also just bought a 2000 wrangler in yellow and am loving it! 💛 welcome to the Jeep community!
Congratulations on the new Jeep!! 🎉🎉 I’ve been a fan for probably 10 years or so now and it’s been such a joy seeing all your adventures and challenges. Can’t wait to see the content you post about the Jeep!!!
girlll !! i also recently bought an old wrangler (2002) and was just as excited as u are !! this video made me so happy to see a fellow old-jeep appreciator. so happy for u to get ur dream car !!
I love this!!! A Jeep wrangler is my dream car too and I honestly love driving my Jeep! I recently just got mines in March and seeing you so excited got me so excited for you!
I really liked the vivid emotions throughout the video, as well as the interest in the detailing of the car itself. You are very cool!!!
welcome to the jeep squad!!
The cleaning sequence was so satisfying to watch! Super impressed with you guys 😊
I can totally relate to your feelings getting your dream car. Mine was the Green 1999 Toyota RAV4. I miss it so much ❤ Loved this video.
This video embodies the joys of buying an old car and fixing it up yourself (even if you don't know everything like the serpentine belt) great job!
OMG. It still looks so good. And the strong vintage vibe is soooo cool!
