Hi Jono, This video was really interesting and helpful-consider this your free dopamine hit! But more seriously, it was genuinely insightful. I chose to watch your video because I’ve seen some of your previous videos, which is one of the reasons I clicked. The other reason was the title, which I found interesting. The title caught my attention because I’ve already watched some of your videos about building a community, and I’m very interested in starting my own. I knew you were the right person to learn from in terms of community building, and I also knew that UA-cam can be a powerful platform for creating an audience. So, when someone who’s knowledgeable about something I want to do-building a community-asks, “Is this channel worth it?” it naturally sparks my curiosity. To be transparent, I don’t watch your videos as much as I do channels like Ali Abdaal’s or Ship30 for 30. However, you’re definitely on my radar when it comes to learning about community building. As someone interested in eventually starting my own community, I’m eager to learn about the ins and outs: what it takes to build a community, the best platform to host it, onboarding processes, and other key aspects. These topics seem to align with what you cover in your course, and that’s the primary reason I’d visit your UA-cam channel. One channel I really enjoy, particularly because of the depth of their content, is Ship30 for 30, and I’d recommend checking it out. As for Ali Abdaal’s channel, I mostly watch his interviews with other creators and his advice on growing a UA-cam channel. Overall, your video was engaging, and I believe the next step for your channel would be to continue focusing on creating content for people who want to build a community. It would also be interesting to include content that goes beyond the technical aspects-perhaps exploring the emotional or psychological sides of community building. However, since you’re already well-known as “the community guy,” it’s worth staying rooted in that niche. On another note, I was quite glad to hear you confirm the impact of even a “small” UA-cam channel which then aligns with what other creators have been saying. I believe talking about your UA-cam journey also from time to time as a channel to grow your business can be quite interesting. Best of luck for 2025, and I’m looking forward to your next videos!
Hi Jono, this is the best style - natural, but different styles work for different audiences! Also you create a quality product, but to be a client of yours, we need to be of a certain size and creating enough revenue to employ your company services, we are not there yet, but aspire to being able to afford direct engagement, until then the video's are a valuable assist in that process. For me in the early stages ( 600 members) monetisation is now key (if you are thinking of video content). Keep up the good work - and the guitar!
I appreciate your work on this channel. I would love to see you growing but you might be against the odds considering what kind of topics and videos the majority of YT users prefers. Without click-bait and shameless exaggeration it might be difficult getting more attention. Posting about community building is still a niche topic - therefore the trees aren't growing into the sky. I registered my first business 50 years ago. One thing I learned during this time is "never giving up" so long you believe in your mission. I am quite interested in the field of community building but I am looking forward to your extended scope (content-wise). Please keep up the good work.
Hey there, I love to see that you made this video. Well in the first place, I respect the knowledge and experience that you have and the spirit that you hold. I'm not your very old or kind of regular viewer, I just joined your channel before watching this video as I watched the video about the Trust Levels in discourse communities. You explained it very well and in really interesting. I really don't care about the content editing besides your content quality means the learnings or information you are sharing is really helpful. As a subscriber and newbie, I'm going to give some suggestion and feedback: 1. You should add some animations, transitions and powerful editing styles (This is harsh true that people likes the video quality rather than the information quality) 2. I think you should also collaborated with other experienced profiles too. As it might gave viewer the real work on ground. 3. I think majority audience of your channel comes randomly after searching any title on UA-cam, and you have to optimize everything according to that 4. I agreed at 9:30 you accepted that your videos at some extent are on few topics, you should definitely check out other topics too, It would be very helpful. That's all this 18 years old mind can generate. 2025 will be yours. Thank-you and best of luck!
Hi Jono, big fan of your work and your youtube channel. I would love to hear more about having your community grow globally. I have a few questions around Whatsapp Communities and what group instant messaging platforms are best for the USA. Thanks again for all of your work
@@jonobacon Might also be tied in with for instance growing an online usergroup into an in person usergroup (just further thinking about how it can be applied to tech, though I am a pastor now :p I'm still from a tech background)
@jonobacon - What resonates with me is your authenticity and street cred... you have a wealth of practical experience and a great network you have cultivated in the community. It is a joy to experience that chemistry and magic in action. It's hard to be a pioneer relentlessly cultivating and tending to your ideas and have to keep experimenting to generate the confluence of forces required to break through. What I do know is when you give the tips and add your story about how you lived it - that works. Wishing you success in 2025...
Thanks so much for your comment, and your point about me sharing more about living the story is a good point. I should inject more of that in the videos. Greet feedback! 🤘
Keep going 🙌🏼
Thanks so much! 🤘

Do you have any tips to build an in person community with a neighbourhood your organisation is located in?
Not yet, but that is a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion!
