@upstate point of view Question: I knew these gangs and their original names before i went to prison and when i got out they had already changed their names without me knowing and the newer generation Nortenos would say their new full name and i would correct them and say thats not their name and me and the youngsters would look confused not knowing what had happened since the younger Nortenos didn't know them by their original names. Pero, my question is didn't the upstaters who had to change their name feel some type of way? Like a type of oppression that the Nortenos gave them? Because they intentionally gave their hood a mexican/paisa name to it, since they felt the Nortenos were oppressing them because they were closer to their Mexican/paisa cultura then the Chicano culture.
