    I had a wonderful coworker who gave me all of her late husband’s boots, most of them worn very lightly if at all. One pair was a $500 pair of Lucchese boots that he wore to get married in. All together there were about 15 pairs. I haven’t had to buy a pair of boots in about 17 years!

      Boy a good shoe shiner can make an old pair of boots look nearly new again. Besides that it feels good like a message on your feet if they do it while your on the spot & not leaving them to be done.

      The people who bring you these foolish demonic comments are the same one who say stupid things like if they can bring suit and have workers compensation they get double recovery. First W/c only pays 2/3rds of the average weekly wage-you agree to take that pay reduction? Next if you recover workers comp gets paid back. Maybe boots should be made from the butt skin of tort reformers or lawyer haters so their ability to think which is impaired could be taken away. Certainly they don’t use grey matter from the brain. I dare you to look at the photos of the oil workers burned at the XTO Ryan well and then say W/C is a valid compensation for their lives!

    In 1970, I saved enough money to buy some sharkskin boots. After walking with them a few days, they were more comfortable than tennis shoes. I wore those boots for 5 years. Had them re-soled twice. Since then, I have not found a pair of boots nearly as comfortable. It sounds like I have to go visit Mike Vaughn.

    I have a ton of boots and only 2 or 3 fit so good that I can wear them for most of the day without soreness. I know some people say otherwise but you have to tolerate boots that you wouldn't do for regular shoes. For example you can't run in them and they get very hot in the summer. But I love them and can't get enough of them.

    As long as the heels and soles don't fall off within a month like 99% of every boot, shoe, and sneaker on the planet . . . I'm a happy guy. Of course, paying the guy's mortgage payment for the month for a pair of boots is nuts too.
    But I like this guy. If you're going to pay over $200 for a set of boots you may as well go all the way and INVEST in your boots. This is the first time I have ever seen where a boot could be made truly CUSTOM fit to each foot. THIS IS THE WAY TO GO . . .

      @OtherThanIntendedPurpose 6 років тому +7

      Ariat is a decent boot, but they do not fit me very well. I have been wearing Justin's since the 70's, and they are about the only boot that I can wear comfortably. I have to special order mine, I wear a very hard size to find. 13-1/2 EEEEE

    • @TexHoss1
      @TexHoss1 5 років тому +4

      Yes you have got your money's worth out of them. I have had several pairs of Ariat boots & they have lasted fairly well but nothing like a custom made pair will. And the fit is like the difference in night & day. I make custom leather goods & the quality a custom maker puts into their product will make it last a whole lot more than the factory made stuff, especially from China, India Afghanistan etc. Like Vaughn said here a custom maker is going to use top grade quality materials where the others use train car loads of leather. It's the same on buckles, conchos etc. Quality handmade products are always more desirable & last far more than the others. Besides what's better than someone taking the time to make something by hand & putting their pride into what they build.
      I would whole lot rather have a pair of custom boots made by Vaughn here, or a custom saddle made by Cheney or Gonzales in Greenville as opposed to a factory made pair of Ariat's, Llama's etc. or Circle Y tac. There is really a world of difference. Yes it cost more but it's like the old saying you get what you pay for.

    I'm not sure, I think it's to justify the high cost and individuality of having them made to measure more than the cost of materials alone.
    I've got sendra cowboy boots 30 years old, worn regularly, they've been resoled and helled a dozen times because I wear them and walk a lot, they are well battered up but not ripped

    All 25 pairs of my boots are store bought, I have never had a problem with them, I would get custom ones but there are none near me to make them

    • @rockn1677
      @rockn1677 9 років тому +1

      +aperson aperson Of course a custom boot maker or the promotional people are never gonna endorse a store bought boot cause that would take away from their marketing of their business but I think as long you buy pretty much on the medium to high end of the name brand lines and watch out for products made in China, you should still be able to get great boots at the store.

      some people need custom boots. Store boots just dont work for, I find them too narrow for my feet. Im built like a neadrathal short and stocky with fat legs and wide feet, so only customs fit right. For most store boots work well, but there are those who need custom

    1200 for a starting price is crazy. I understand the time, effort but when you can get an Anderson bean elephant made in the US for 600 that fits like a glove and feels like a slipper. That is very hard to swallow.

    What do people think about exotic "Printed" leather? As opposed to using real animal skins? Just to save money? - *Like the company El Presidente's Gold Collection for only $125.00... in ostrich and croc... but all goat leather. --- For the price, are they good? *Check them out on EBay for the best styles and prices. I've also owned genuine cobra and python, but eventually it always peels and starts to fall apart. (yes, obviously, I'm a novice). Thank ya'll for your opinions.

    @14:06: "Each layer is pegged on. I don't use any nails whatsoever..."
    Pegs are fine in damp conditions, but they loosen in dry weather. Also, you use at least one nail for the shank... and it's not clear to me why a nail shank is better than a plate shank.

      Stetson hats are garbage. Another factory made, overpriced hat. There's quite a few hat makers. I'll take my Texas Hatters cowboy hat. I hear there's a lot better made hats around here but I like my hat just fine.
