    Songs like this will be lost to the music void and forgotten except to the ones that Jeff truly touched. Everything Jeff added vocally or musically was just what was needed not one note to much or to little. He was a fantastic composer,producer and arrainger.

      @@maldowling5966 Actually Andy Wallace is credited with producing the Grace album. Jeff only officially produced one track, So Real, but I assume he made a lot of the decisions in the production of other tracks since he had such a strong vision for his work.

    I'm really feeling the tragedy of his death now. Jeff's music is so relevant still, so it seems like he keeps giving, but the reality of his unfinished work is hard to comprehend. What a guy...

    He can take a melody in any key and sing with such soul and lovliness. It IS almost unbearable. I just find him so fascinating and blessed. God it's been over 18 yrs now and just wish I could hangout with him and ask him to sing. All night until I feel asleep.

      Billy Pilgrim You're so right! Almost all singers now, good as some of them are, seem to me like their kind of faking it... I can only stand Rachael Yamagata after Jeff...Nothing that worries too much about technique or virtuosism.
      Jeff had such an amazing voice that he didn't need to make an effort to sing "beautifully". What he does is seemingly simple, but it is not; it is not.
      He sings from his heart, his soul. The sounds in his voice come straight from his heart and his soul.
      I am bewitched by that fact an the beauty of his music. No one has expressed like him the angst or pain that comes with being alive. No one.
      I adore him.

    I remember walking home while listening to this song nearly 20 years ago. On a scale of 1 to 11, it was at least a 9 on the Irish Rain scale. It was like I was in a movie, and this was the soundtrack.

    The sunset forgetting that I ever happened?
    Such a powerful quote , so much feeling.
    It looks like he thought of death and how it feels when you think about it.

      @Fred Virtuoso Doing anything/simply existing is an already indelible mark, forgotten or remembered. Entropy makes the strain for 'legacy' seem a bit silly, to me. The paradox here is that Jeff didn't seem to care much about his legacy, either -- seems like the only way to get one is not to need one! lol

      Dont pay attention to them.. they exist on every video because people are very different.. you never know if its a 6 year old who has access to their dads phone and dislikes it... or someone who is angry that this is being given a way for free and people arent purchasing the record. Lots of reasons.

    "Opened Once"
    I once was open
    And one with a travelling heart
    I loved with disregard
    Just like the fiction
    Rushing in your riverbed
    Arise like applause in my head
    And in the half-light
    Where we both stand
    This is the half-light
    See me as I am
    Just like the ocean
    Always in love with the moon
    It's overflowing now
    Inside you
    We fly right over
    The minds of so many in pain
    We are the smile of light that brings them rain
    In the half light
    Where we both stand
    In the half light
    You saw me as I am
    I am a railroad track abandoned
    With the sunset
    Forgetting
    I ever happened
    That I ever happened.

I thought the words showing above your statement, were the lyrics someone found and wrote down for all of us to see.

      alicia mcmillan Most of the glaring errors come from the official lyrics transcribed in the Sketches album; unfortunately they weren't done correctly in the first place which is very disappointing. I just want to know what he sings as well because his words are so poetic and beautiful of course. This gem is one of Jeff's best ever songs in my humble opinion :)

    That haunting guitar and voice popped into my head this morning while I lay in bed and barely awake. And I immediately grabbed my phone and played it. Wow! Incredibly nostalgic and bittersweet memories after purchasing this CD in ‘98, and knowing there would be no more new music from Jeff. It would have been amazing to hear what this album would’ve sounded like had that freak accident not occurred. The only musician whose death has truly saddened me to this day.

    The blue light footage was extracted from the documentary, *Amazing Grace: Jeff Buckley.* The footage is taken from a solo performance Jeff gave in at *Gleneagles, Scotland* (sometime in *March, 1994).* This was a *Sony Showcase* event that saw various Sony acts perform, such as Jeff and Oasis; the latter performed directly after Jeff. Unfortunately, Jeff's entire set has never been officially released. It is strange, considering that Sony, presumably, filmed this and owns both the audio and visual rights and don't have to come to an agreement with another organization, in order to release this concert.
    You can see the footage in question, below.
    Skip to the 30:22 mark: ua-cam.com/video/cTEpntWmg_o/v-deo.htmlm22s
    More footage at the 12:45 mark, here: ua-cam.com/video/Q3cU59iMK_M/v-deo.htmlm45s
    You can listen to the audio from this show, here: www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2012/05/jeff-buckley-full-concert.html
    As for the footage at the end of my video: it is from a solo show that Jeff played in my hometown, *Toronto, Canada* at venue called *The Ultrasound* on *13 February 1994.* Once again, the exact video extract I used is was taken from the aforementioned Amazing Grace documentary. Here is the exact mark (42:07) at which it appears: ua-cam.com/video/cTEpntWmg_o/v-deo.htmlm7s
    Additionally, you can watch some more footage (including an interview) from this show, in the following videos:
    *Jeff Buckley | Citytv, Toronto, ON, 2/13/94:* ua-cam.com/video/xCGeXsHixbg/v-deo.html

    (More interview and concert footage; 1:14 mark) *Jeff Buckley | MuchMusic Spotlight:* ua-cam.com/video/YgSqWJLl6wY/v-deo.htmlm14s
    (Lastly, skip to the 1:58 mark} *Jeff Buckley | MuchMusic Interview (1994):* ua-cam.com/video/I_g0eDviCMA/v-deo.htmlm58s

    He sings: "I once was open, and one with a traveling heart. I loved disregard." Besides hearing him clearly sing "disregard" and closing the 'd' sound at the end of the word I am taking the whole line in context of the song; He was once a man who was not true to one woman...and now he is reflecting upon it and leaving the way that he once was behind because he now knows what it is to love.

    THIS IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SONG! It's so ethereal.; feels like I'm flying when I hear the beautiful music and Jeff's sweet voice. It sounds like he's saying "I loved this sweet guy", but I went to the lyrics and it read "I loved this sweet god". Yet, one cannot make out the "d" at the end of "god" so I believe he's singing to a guy. I'm running with that one.

    We are spiritual beings in a physical world, he's not gone he's somewhere else and I believe in my heart that he reached a peace we will never know in this world. Of course we feel robbed of such a treasure but at least we know he was here and left us with so many beautiful songs, we shouldn't take for granted not even two seconds of his music.

    • @MojoPin1983
      @MojoPin1983  5 років тому +1

      Both the physical and spiritual are integral to our nature. We’re not merely spiritual beings in physical vessels. We’re equals parts, both. What you’re espousing, it seems, is what the Gnostics believed (correct me if I am wrong): they believed that the physical world was bad, and that it was better to flee it and the body.
      As a Christian, I do believe that we do live on forever, either with God or apart from Him, depending on whether one has surrendered their lives and sins to Jesus. I certainly hope that Jeff is now with him, but I have no idea what was in Jeff’s heart.

    • @brendaluna173
      @brendaluna173 5 років тому

      @@MojoPin1983 I don't believe the physical world is bad, but I believe that in a spiritual life apart from our flesh we can experience something that our flesh prevents us from, it's not that the physical world is bad it's that we have a limit in spirituality (most of us at least) that some of us fight to push forward more and more through different sources but only after we die (if we die in Christ) we can reach the highest level

    • @MojoPin1983
      @MojoPin1983  5 років тому

      @True Blue What is your worldview? You seem to affirm the gospel, given your tacit acknowledgement of Christ’s divinity, but if you believe the New Testament, then it states that God is going to come dwell with the redeemed in Christ on the new earth. The saved will not live in some disembodied state, as the Gnostics believed, rather, they will be given physical, resurrection bodies, modeled after Christ’s risen body. Our bodies don’t hinder our spiritual consummation. God affirmed the goodness of the body and physical matter in Genesis when He called it, good.

    • @brendaluna173
      @brendaluna173 5 років тому

      @@MojoPin1983 a new body not this body,That's what I meant. Again I don't think the body is bad just restricted. I know we will have a new body, it'll not be a sinner's body. that doesn't take truth from my first statement

    • @MojoPin1983
      @MojoPin1983  5 років тому

      @True Blue I don’t think our current bodies really restrict us, per se, rather, it is our fallen nature that can impede our communion with Christ. That adversely manifests itself in our bodily desires. Due to that, our we are prone to the temptations of our flesh, which will no longer have any power over us in our resurrection bodies.

    There is only limited footage from that concert currently available (Glenagles, Scotland 3 March 1994). There's a short snippet of Last Goodbye in the Grace EPK and there is a little more footage in the Lover, You Should've Come Over video on DreamBrother86A's UA-cam channel.

    Have you heard the sketches 4-tracks that weren't officially released? You And I (Guitar Version) and Peace Offering, especially? There are still some pieces that haven't come to light, such as Sky Blue Skin. In time, we'll probably here more, but I don't think there is much left.

    Cufable's words mean "Once you open up the door to essence, all the rest hasn't got any meaning anymore".

    @s1ygirl No, he doesn't. According to his official tab book, he sings, 'I loved this sweet guide.' Referencing his traveling heart. 'I loved disregard' makes no sense.

    Yeah, he was in Memphis when this was recorded, I believe. He could very well have used his Telecaster, but who knows. You'd have to contact one of his band mates, Tom Verlaine, or someone else who was close to Jeff. Why do you want to know? You should be able to achieve his tone with a Telecaster, just fine. I have the same Tele and Alesis Quadraverb effects unit that he used. I get pretty much mimic his sound.

      +John Arundell Its the lyrics to 'Hallelujah'. If you look closely to the right you can see where it says "the fourth the fifth".

    @corpsehand1 Thanks. That's what I thought he stated. I think that's so beautiful. Was he referring to a past life when he states "traveling heart"? How do you know he was referring to a past self, which almost sounds like a past life? Just wondering. Thanks for clarifying this. I think a lot of people get the lyric wrong because they shun at the idea of two men being in love or reincarnation.

    I think so too. This was written when Jeff was just beginning to understand and forgive his father. Opened Once - Jeff remembered meeting Tim just once.

    James Franco is a decent actor that looks kinda like Jeff Buckley, so what! Jeff Buckley is one of a handful of talents that was so great it's not right to put any other's name with his, Buckley was like a Mozart or John Lennon or Freddie Mercury or Beethoven, he had that kind of talent. When I hear Jeff sing there is no other one that comes to mind.

    @MojoPin1983 I think that's a strong statement anyway. Men are so afraid to say that they love another guy, especially a sweet guy, because they fear someone may question their sexuality. Or some mistake someone speaking from a women's perspective, which may be the case here. I don't know if you ever heard Prince's "If I was your Girlfriend"? It was a great song because he looked at his girl from a women's perspective. Many thought it was him broadcasting his gay nature, but it wasn't. Thanx.

    @shesgonewiththesin Thanks. Jeff was one of a kind. Sadly we'll never see another nearly as gifted. Since you like Jeff you should check out the album, 'Colma' by Buckethead. It'll floor you. Grace is the only prettier thing I've heard.

  • @MojoPin1983

    @girraud The lyric has nothing to do with reincarnation. It's either about a friend of his or sung from the perspective of a woman. Jeff possibly being the sweet guy.
