After modification you can simply use an IR/UV cut filter over your lens to solve the daily photography problem. They're not terribly expensive (not terribly cheap either), and they take you back to normal photography use when you're not pointing through a telescope or the night sky.
Yes, you are right you can do this also with and filter but I have change my white balance and then I get the same results like before this modification.

Really interesting video. Would it be possible to add an A7S Mk3 to the comparison? I can't find a definitive astronomy video that compares the A7S1 or 2 to the backlit A7S3. To see how modded A7S1 compares to the latest camera would be awesome.

What if one wanted to also use this modified camera for terrestrial photography? What specific lens filter would be needed to compensate for the missing IR sensor filter?
Thank you 👍 you can use this modified camera. also as an normal camera too. You can adjust the white balance manually in the camera. I have done this and I use this camera also for normal shooting.
I've heard that a majority of sony a7 cameras use an IR LED sensor for the shutter.
Wouldn't there be an IR light leak?
Only if you use the autofocus in low light. But for astro you must focus manuel anyway and therefore you will have no problems.
Can you use astro modified camera for daytime shoot with flash or ND filter?
I didn’t test it with a flash but nd filter is no problem. You can adjust the WB and after that you can use it like a normal camera

How to shift sensor up front for infinite focus? I see in A7s three brass spacers which removal could shift distance by 0.4mm, do I need to leave them?
You don't need to worry about that. The autofocus works exactly the same after the modification as it did before, and the manual focus works anyway. This used to be problematic with the converted dslr and you had to adjust the focus point, but with the mirrorless cameras it's no longer a problem.

@@RynaxAlien you don’t need a filter replacement on mirrorless cameras. Do you use focus speaking when you are using manual lenses?
@@dawa5581 So A7 focused to infinity with any lens without requiring focus shift correcting window? My A7s could not focus to infinity but after after adding 2.4mm fused silica window problem was resolved. What generation is your A7, it has IBIS?
@@RynaxAlien my A7 is the first generation and I have no issues with the focus setting. Some friends of mine are using the A7III and they have also no problem. Is it possible that something has to go wrong with your Astro modification?
