    I own 2 T Deck Plus one has an external antenna in the 3rd floor flat window where I live.
    It has managed to receive messages from the centre of the building on the ground floor, at the rear of the building so I sent every message with no line of sight but it still received every message, I am impressed!

      I'm super impressed by this technology! Can't wait to test out the "LONG SLOW" it's going to get even more range. Thanks for watching!

    what a nightmare getting those button sliders back in place. I had to use a small piece of blue-tack to hold the GPS unit in place !.

    I-Pex - U.FL or MHF4 or maybe even another size. Anyway, My T-Deck Plus is on it's way (+ Heltec LoRa32 V3 Node for my base station) and I will deffo connect an external antenna. Exiting toys, that's for sure!

      @@404DisasterNotFound I ordered a pack of IPEX to replace the one I broke. Swapped the antennas one too many times. Have fun and thanks for watching!

    Would you advise removing the internal antenna? Rather then leaving it in

    • @patrickpuma
      @patrickpuma  Місяць тому

      I recommend leaving it in. You might one day get a new device and want to dedicate the upgraded antenna to the new device. This way you can put the old device back to factory specs and still use it one day.

  • @PHExpatPrepper
    @PHExpatPrepper 2 місяці тому

    question.. was the built in antenna not strong enough.. or you just went right to the upgrade? Did you see any difference in distance?

    • @patrickpuma
      @patrickpuma  2 місяці тому

      I'm planning to run some range tests for the next video but the internal antenna is for sure very limiting. Thanks for watching!

      I have a T-Deck plus and I've found the range to be adequate. I also have a node in my car which it connects to as a hop point which is usually within a km or so of where I am.

      @@Jakefrc Nice.. I figure once I get the 'big' node on top of the building.. then I will test the mobile ones for range.

    I've heard a lot of horror stories about these T Decks no longer being functional or supported. Others saying these are unreliable. Is this true?

    • @patrickpuma
      @patrickpuma  2 дні тому +1

      I haven't heard anything about this. I still have to text the LONGSLOW mode on these devices to see how far they can really go in optimal settings. Thanks for watching!
