I noticed the rhythm in the Psycho shower scene is like a heartbeat, normal, excited, desperate clinging, and then an artifact of a failing heart. That's so cool. Thank you for this breakdown, learned quite a bit.
Great insight! The main musical theme of psycho is based on a heart beat that starts slow and speeds up. So the idea that the central scene in the film is edited to the rhythm of a heartbeat is likely dead on - although we will never know that was intentional or not. Thanks for the comment!
Longer shot duration is a great way to build tension. A slow build to something momentous taking place. Like a camera zooming in on someone from behind when someone sneaks up on them. A slow zoom leading to the grab. The calm before the storm.
I recommend you to create thumnail much more better because content is awesome and very helpful but if no one click the video no one will watches this amazing video explaination then. I'm just trying to help you and im glad I watched it You deserve much much more view then this and that can be possible just by change the thumbnail title because first thing people see is thumbnail and title and make choice to watch or scroll thank you once again and sorry if I said something wrong

Last semester I watched Spiderman Into the Spiderverse with my film class (a movie my students choose). It was a great choice! The rhythms of that film are incredible. There seems to be more freedom in animation when it comes to editing choices. And this film, in my opinion, is one of the better ones (not just in terms of rhythm, but all aspects of film editing).
@@OK-ju1gz Raging Bull is wonderful in terms of both editing rhythm and editing time manipulation (speeding up and slowing time). Another interesting “classic” film to look at in terms of editing rhythm is One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The film’s main conflict comes from Nurse Ratched’s attempt to maintain calm in a ward of a mental institution and Randle’s injection of tension into the ward. The juxtaposition of those two forces provides some wonderful opportunities for rhythm in editing.
While the average shot duration for modern films is around 4-6 seconds, that is just an average. Some films have a faster editing rhythm and some films are much slower. Commercials and music videos tend to be MUCH faster in terms of rhythm. So the pace you set for an editing project will depend on the type of project you are doing or the story you are telling. But if you think of the 4-6 second duration as being somewhat "typical" for a film, then you can adjust faster or slower from that average to change the rhythmic tone of the editing style within a scene.
Some of my videos have been blocked in specific countries because of copyright claims. I respond to all disputes (I do not monetize any of my videos and create them for educational purposes). But sometimes a video does get blocked, and I guess the Match Cuts video is currently blocked in your country. That is a bummer.
first of all its Disney not Buena Vista that distributed the Avengers. BV evolve to WDSMP in 2007. Second your style of how to edit is cool. it is telling that the pings give the cue and can help find the rhythm on the film.
This right here... this is the best rhythm in editing video on UA-cam. So clear.

any other movie recommendation in the context of rhythm?

OMG, You're amazing!
I'm a Learning Editor myself and I would like to know: How do you find out the Average Shot Duration even before you edit?
