She was Filipino when it was convenient to her career. She was Filipino when she voiced Trese LOL
this
Yeah I remember 😂 she also voiced Trese English Dub for netflix and for Tagalog Liza Soberano.
Shay Mitchell is really a Pretty Little Liar
You can’t pronounce Shay Mitchell without pronouncing “Shame”
Shame Mitchell
Damn I just heard the audio. It's a lie
It’s so beautiful when people are proud of where they are from. And it’s a shame when people deny their nationality.
I think her nationality is american. Her ethnicity are irish and filipino
@@loi7551 She's Canadian.
My mom used to work with her mom. We've been to their place here in Vancouver. Shes definitely half Filipino 😂
Oh shit we got direct tea source right here guys 😂🍵
Toronto is like wayyyy on the other side of Canada tho, they have a place in Vancouver too?
@@mykuryocityyeah Shay is from Mississauga Ontario which is by Toronto. Not sure if she has property in Vancouver
@@DestineeY If she's from Mississauga, chances are, she's half-Filipino! LOL Practically all of my Filipino friends who live in Canada live in Mississauga!
@@lepunksmoothieyes my college friend now lives in Missasauga with her husband, both Filipinos. They bought a house there.
She looks more Filipina than white 😛
There are people out here who literally know the Filipino side of her family. This is some shi she can't lie about at this point. I went to the same college as one of her Filipino cousins. Even seen pics of them in family reunions. 😂 Whoever from her PR team decided to make her lie about her race made a terrible move. She sounds stupid tryna lie like that.
Bart "she's half white half lies" 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I feel bad for her kinda being ashamed of her Mom than being Filipino in general.
I dont. This is what happens to Filipinos who whyte worship 🤣
Lea Salonga was the Disney Princess voice for Jasmine ** and Mulan
Good thing they ended the video lol. That bit was hilarious 🤣
Not Ariel - Mulan
Singing voices for Jasmine and Mulan. Ariel is vocied by Jodie Benson.
Lea Salonga is her cousin. 😂
and her aunt!!!!
She didn’t forget she was Filipino. She just didn’t have the self-confidence to be herself. 😑
Maria Lea Carmen Imutan Salonga; (born February 22, 1971) is a Filipino singer and actress. Known primarily for her work in theatre, she has starred in musicals on Broadway and in the West End. Her accolades include a Tony Award and a Laurence Olivier Award, in addition to nominations for two Grammy Awards. She was conferred with the Presidential Medal of Merit in 1990 and the Order of Lakandula in 2007, and she was honored as a Disney Legend in 2011.
3:48 Bart couldn’t keep it in 😂
Lol 0:09 he literally couldn't man spat out his shit
Waiting for people to clip that into a AD/promo for some local snack/resturant.
Maybe her mom said "yoor so pat" and she disowned her
This is like my fob cousins acting like they don’t know Tagalog, after staying one year in Canada 😂
They trying so hard to blend in with you guys 😂
Are they the kind who try to hide their accent
We call those people conyo's
@@_Maxten they are ashamed of being filipino. That's why their parents go for old foreigner to get that foreign citizenship
@@alas2210 meanwhile I’m speaking broken Tagalog to my lola’s and tita’s lol
She took the liar in pretty little liar so seriously.
I’m a pale white Mexican with light brown hair and I still don’t say I’m Spanish
I do to explain the obvious-I’m a redhead-and I’m Colombian and will always say Colombian first! 😅 but we do have cousins in Spain
@@alisha1377 right, Americans always question if I’m really Mexican but I don’t change my answer for that
@@21venturahonestly it’s not just Americans, it’s most peoples even other Latinos. You do you! ❤
You should do an ancestry test and see what you find out 😂
@@IslandStoo I did and it said I think 60% Spaniard. But I still say I’m Mexican one because I was born there and so was my family
Lea Salonga is the goat! a great pioneer for us with filipino heritage. At work, customers that are latinos, right off the bat, start conversating me with spanish thinking that i'm mexican or something. I give the ol' "no hablo espanol"
10:25 Ryan being a homie not letting them embarass themselves more for not knowing who Mulan is 😅
Let’s just leave it at that 😂
Disney literally made a live action movie only in the past years, how can they not know who the character is
Shay is not Filipino but a racist of a kind😂 Poor thing 😅
Name of her mom is Precious Garcia , bro ask anyone in the Philippines, the name of her mom is the MOST filipina ever !
The disrespect of not knowing Lea
omg I felt Ryan's pain at the end. Lea is one of the og Disney princesses' singing voices boyz.
It's Ok we Filos don't know Shay Mitchell as well. As long as she won't claim Filipino too, when her career is over and irrelevant in the future. 😆
Like Vanessa Hudgens, she's now representing the Philippines when no one cares for her anymore. 😂
@@my_other_side473 "when its convenient"
Just FYI. Filipinos who lives in the Philippines doesn't care about the issue. Lol, she can deny it all she wants. Media just made it like Filipinos are affected, but the truth is not really.
@@gurlrockz31girl we dont care as in we dont care about her doesnt mean its ok for her to deny being filipino. she's now a laughingstock even in the philippines.
Shay Mitchell should always remember "De Nile is not just a river in Egypt."
When your mom’s full Filipina-your raised Filipina. The denial is harsh.
I would love to be part filipino. I'd be dancing everywhere and slaying at karaoke!
I LOVE JOKOY ,,, HE LOVE HIS FILIPINO SIDE...WE ARE VERY VERY PROUD OF HIM AS FELLOW COUNTRYMEN.
As Phil Australian I can relate. It’s the way your mom brought you up
Exactly. It depends on the environment and household they're brought up.
Bart yelling "I don't know everyone in your family" as the video credits pop up at the end🤣
She didn't forget she was half pinay.
She was straight ashamed to have let it be known. 😂
“Ehhh, it’s all the same” lol “rice is rice” 😅😂
I concur .👍
As a Filipino, I can confirm, my oldest sister looks Indian
Is she hot?
It means you're indian. British bought indians in the philippines during the 7 years war, and they runaway from british and lived up in the mountain. Still now there's a huge community of indian in rizal province.
I mean the Philippines was part of the Chola Empire and still evident in some of the names and words being Sanskrit. Wouldn't doubt there's a bit of Indian up in there lol.
@@user-tt8pj8cb5k That and the Philippines was historically once part of the Indosphere ie. The Chola Empire, amongst others. People forget Indians have been trading by land and sea for a VERY long time and it's evidenced by the Sanskrit influence on many languages found in The Philippines. It's something like 25% of Tagalog is Sanskrit and Tamil derived which is wild.
I guess it depends what part of the Philippines you're from.. Filipinos from one province don't look like other Filipino's from another province. I'm from Ilocos Sur and I look Mexican.... I even have random Mexicans speaking to me en español and my damn neighbors thought I was just a landscaper of my own damn house. They see me everyday planting bushes and building a fence and cutting my grass and putting up window shutters. One thing is for sure... all Pinays from Pampanga are BEAUTIFUL...they have a distinct look.
Poor Ryan, Lea Salonga is a Disney legend.
She once said in an,interview that she used to hide her filipino blood. Shout out to all the real famous part filipono celebrities who acknowledge their root.
Lives right up to the title: pretty little liar
I vaguely remember a vlog of hers going to her parents house in Vancouver & her mom is clearly Philippina. I think she even speaks about it. Also Spanish food isn’t spicy 😂
If she said she's not filipino then so be it She's not that important to make a controversy
She’s a Filipino when she needs to be let’s be honest.
Any nationality will feel insulted if you someone does that. If she doesn't want her Filipino side to be revealed, then shoild've avoided mentioning it, not make up things.
she voiced a Filipino adult cartoon on Netflix wherein she spoke a few tagalog words.
The thing is a lot of Filipinos claim Spanish heritage when actually only a very small percentage of the population have such heritage.
That's definitely true. Having a Spanish sounding last name doesn't mean you have a Spanish heritage.
They try really hard to not be asian and be white.
Sadly true. The colonial mentality is insane.
@@wtb472 yea I remember reading an article on a study that was conducted and found out only 3-4% have actual spanish ancestry. But if you go around the Philippines and ask more than half will say that they have spanish ancestry.
there's this famous indian filipino that loves mekus mekus
How can they not know Lea Solanga?? Her song "we could be in love" is soo sweet!
Spaniards don’t have a “spicy” cuisine lol she was trying to muddle the water of Spanish yt Europeans w the Latino countries that actually have spicy cuisines
OMGG NOW THEY HAVE TO REACT TO LEA SALONGA VIDEOS!!!!!!!
i have a neighbor who is half filipino and denies that part bc she is embarrassed to be filipino.... she also claims to be Spain-ish
Not saying that you are and denying that you are, are different things. It's the intent, and sometimes netizen puts intent when there's none.
That's outdated thinking. Is she gen x or an old millenial? Every young millenial and gen z to gen alpha kids these days are proud of being wasian.
@@qwertybooim a gen z filipino that grew up outside the philippines and would used to lie ab being half spanish out of self-loathing :(( i dont do it anymore tho obv, esp not when i came back to live in the ph again, but unfortunately this sorta colonial mentality still exists among young filipinos who grow up abroad
Lmao at bart at 3:52 when he laughed and spit out his food! It was trippy!
It's true there are more Chinese looking Filipinos than whites, we're Asians not Latinos.
I have a cousin who's mostly mistaken to be Indian or a mix of Arab & Indonesian. He has dark skin and a full beard. And his full biological brother looks like Chinese descent. Their parents are full Filipinos. As for me, I look kinda Chinese, I get mistaken as Chinese whenever I'm in Singapore or Malaysia. I guess we did have some Chinese ancestors more than 4 generations before as there's usually 1 or 2 among siblings who can pass off as a Southern Chinese.
Accents are my favorite 😂😂😂. I dont think I'm any Filipino at all and I point with my lips lmaoo I'm all italian.
*Filipino
@skyhart9926 Thank you. lol didn't even realize my phone changed the whole word lmaoo.
Knew this would be an episode
oof. this will be her 'jennifer lawrence's "i'm the first female action star" moment' she will never live it down
Lol!! I don’t know why we’re hurt. It’s not like she’s that famous or talented. 😂😂😂
There are few Filipinos who lives in the Philippines that looks like her, but they don’t deny that they are Filipinos. She is too insecure. If she doesn’t want to be Filipino then don’t, but I bet her mother speaks English with a Filipino accent 😅
The shock at the end where no one knows Lea Salonga ... she's filiipino royalty!!
I mean you can ask a group of ladies about an NBA superstar from the 90s, the odds of them knowing him would be very very low.
Lea is only probably known by those theatre kids
@@fleabaguetteyep she's theater royalty basically. She's still in the recent Tony Awards.
@@qwertyboo she is, she’s just not a household name in the US like she is in PH
My kids not only the only the filipinos in their school but the only south east asian students🤣🤣🤣
I love when he says '' Cool Asians''
Gosh you are hilarious. Filipino pointing with lips is so "on-point". You forgot that we say "yes" without saying yes. Just watch the eyebrows. I subscribed, by the way. Thank you JustKiddingNews. Love from the Philippines.
I used to look up to him until now 😂😂😂!
Lmao that ending 😂
lol it is hilarious when you guys start doing the accents. 😂
My kids cry when i teased them theyre not filipino🤣🤣🤣 my kids super proud to be filipino
As a Filipino, I don't know her at all. 😂
Ako din haha.. na curious lng ako dumaan sa recommendations ko. Sikat ba siya? Bat pinag uusapan?

Smh and they don’t event know who Lea SALONGA is! LOL
God, these guys are always funny and great together!
White dude with blue cap is not funny ,don't ever go to the Philippines ❤
Oh man... The guy who played Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) is actually the great grand child of people who were killed in the Holocaust.... not a Nazi at all 😅🙈 love u guys though
Her mother brought her up pretentious
Posted just in time to watch while I drink my morning coffee
Yesssss queen right there with you
Subin at the end: “Lea Salongdick”😂
Im more mad thet they didnt know who Lea Salonga.
Theses guys lost all their Disney privileges.
Spanish people looks more like greek , italian or arabs from north africa or like lebanon or Syria etc ... and in Spain the currency is Europ not pesos .... i am not philipino but i will love to be one beautiful country !!!
Spaniards generally do not look Greek or Italian, their genes are celtic, they look like the dark cells like the Welsh, Catherine zeta Jones or Scottish like Sean Connery or Irish like Colin farrell
Shame Mitchell
I'm Filipino living in the Philippines we are a quarter Spanish & quarter American!
Huh? Take DNA test!
I think Danny brown the rapper is Filipino as well!
Filipinos are known all over the world for being loving and " HARD WORKING PEOPLE." and they will support you 100% if you love them and treat them kindly, but no worries , if she doesn't recognize us, just don't call us when you need our vote!
Shay Mitchell was happy to proclaim that she's half-Filipino during her PLL days. That was even written into her character's heritage and was mentioned at least a couple of times in the show.
The half white not being accepted by white people and theb going to hawaii and being told shes white. Thats what happened when i lived in Guam. I felt like i didn't belong anywhere. But being raised by my Filipino mom, i identified more with my Filipino side.
Ok attae
She's literally half white, her dad was Irish + Scottish. Just not Spanish.
Her mum being named Precious is a Filipino thing. A lot of people are named Precious here.
10:19 Ryan just name dropping random Indian ppl at the end💀
If a somewhat famous person is 0.0000000001% Filipino, Filipinos will obsess over that that individual like they're gods or something. Very weird.
The other guys on JK must be seriously trolling Ryan if thry don't know Lea Salonga.
I saw this show and it was filmed in Latin America. I feel like she was just trying to relate to the locals. It didn’t make sense and I cringed when she said it but she also mentioned being Filipino in other episodes
Maybe she likes switching races whatever benefits her. She's never getting support from Filipinos again. She loves lying maybe lol
she's still playing the role pretty little liars up to now.
“She’s also related to Lea Salonga. Who’s that?” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Does anyone know what hat Joe’s wearing? I’ve been seeing them everywhere
TODAYS YEAR OLD WHEN I FOUND OUT "ZACK MORROIS" IS 50% ONE OF US LOL
But she came in the Philippines to for a movie celebrity event and she was paid and just casted to dub as the main character for the animated movie “Trese” recently. That’s what pissed us off, she was given the main role and paid for it because she was half Filipino. Instead of giving it to other Filipinos that are proud to be like Saweetie or H.E.R.
she has a career? sino ba siya? di naman talaga siya sikat. lol
hindi kawalan ang haliparot na talipandas na babaeng yan.
I did watch a little of the English dub of Trese and she did speak Tagalog in the series.
I watched it in Tagalog with Liza Soberano since I’m more familiar with Liza than Shay.
Pretty Little Liar suits her
maybe she was relating to her 10th grandmother who is spanish as filipinos did colanized by spaniards in the 1800
The funny thing is that a lot of the “Spaniards” in the Philippines were actually Mexican 😂 Mexico used to be “New Spain” so I guess that’s what they mean when they say they’re “Spanish” 🤣
They are just capping
Ryan doing the indian accent was funny af 😂🤣
She even mentioned Leah Salonga i cant remember that she is her aunt .
As a filipino, the last part is so funny 😂😂
The title of her show “PRETTY LITTLE LIAR” suits her very well….
Then we have Alice Guo insisting she is Filipino..the irony.
yes filipinos are polynesians like malaysians, indonesia, thailanders.
Lets gooooo!!!
Mark Paul Gosselaar who played Zack Morris is not half-Indonesian. His mom is an Indo, a person of mixed European (mostly Dutch) and native Indonesian while his Dad is Dutch which makes him less than a quarter Asian. And as Joe pointed, out native Indonesian and native Filipinos are genetically closer to native Taiwanese and native Polynesians whilst culturally closer to mainland Southeast Asia.
There are actually quite a lot of mixed white-Indo people in the entertainment industry in the US such as the Van Halen brothers; Alex and Eddie (RIP), Michelle Branch the singer, Carmit Bachar of Pussycat Dolls, and Kristin Kreuk of Smallville. The reason why so many mixed Indo people living in the US was because when Indonesia achieved independence from the Netherlands it was through a violent revolutionary war and the previously privileged Indo people lost their position of power in post-independent Indonesia and were pushed out to emigrate because of oppressive policies against Indo people by the Indonesian First President, Soekarno.
I thought kk was half chinese
@@Bulshitero Less than that if I'm not mistaken, her mom is an Indonesian-Chinese-Dutch, so she would be a Quapa or half a Hapa, just like MPG, VH, and Michelle Branch.
He’d be a quarter Indonesian, possible a bit more possibly a bit less
@@user-ul4lf3zh8z Yupp, a quarter native Indonesian or half a hapa or quapa. The reason why quapa Indonesians usually look fully white is because native Indonesians usually don't have monolids (small eyes) and on average have a weaker or less extreme physical features. Therefore, by the third generation mixed with white people (Quapa) the little Asian facial feature that they have blended into Caucasian facial features.
and Bobby Lee-looking-Filipino 😂
Her mum’s surname is Garcia, she is probably referring to that. But she has said she is filipina many times.
I've known and met some native indeginous (dumagat) filipino and they have the most spanish last name😂
well some kapampangans has attitudes so i was not surprised 😂
