very true, we got all the mechanical stuff, except the rear wheel with the bike. Frame was un altered to put the disc brake on also. i got an original wheel from a pile of stuff i got later and included that with the bike when I passed the machine onto the next owner
elmer kemp I remember my '47 Knuckle back around 1980, when I was young and good looking. Maybe 4 or 5 little hotties followed me out of the bar to see me kick start my beautiful old chopper. After about 20 minutes of kicking, they lost interest.
HD already did this with the 1986 FLST Heritage Softtail. The FLSTC was introduced in 1988, along with the FXSTS (Springer softtail). The FLSTS Heritage Springer would follow in 1997. There are examples of each on this channel
todd, what was the last year of the rear center stand? did that go out with the foot clutch. my 1980 flh i think was the first year w/o the hinged fender maybe.
The last year of the ridgid frame, thus rear stand as shown, as 1957. The last year of the (what became optional foot clutch in 1952) was available through 1978 as a special order. Worthy of note, 1965 was the last year Panhead, 1st year of Electric start on the big twins (the electric start was introduced in 1963 on the Servi-cars) and 1st year 5 gallon tanks became "standard". However, HD had not yet designed a shifter mechanism to work around the 5 gallon tanks, so in 65 any foot clutch ordered came with a 3.5 gallon tank instead of the 5 gallon tanks.
tHANKS FOR REPLY. MY COUSIN SYE WHO PASSED AWAY WAS WITH READING MC. I KNOW QUITE A FEW OF THE MEMBERS. GO TO THE OLEY RUN EVERY YEAR. KEEP IN TOUCH WITH UPDATES ON 51 PANHEADS.
Todd. I was wondering. As you know all the American auto makers are bring back the "old" look. with cars. why doesn't Harley bring back the Pan head look. same old look but new technology. same with the knuckle head. I think it would be a success. im an AMF era born baby. so I didn't get to appreciate the classic engine. just the shovel head.

Not completely original....it should be mechanical rear brakes...not hydraulic.
