This problem is caused by sticking solenoids. To reset back to neutral (N), switch the ignition on, open the bonnet and give the front of the gear box (the main failing solenoid) a light tap with a small hammer. You should hear the syncro's re-align and then you should see the neutral symbol (N) being displayed. This will allow you to start the vehicle again (this is really useful if you're stranded). This Is only temporary and you must have the solenoids replaced or serviced. (This isn't cheap). It's probably best to have this done at your local Vauxhall dealer or specialist as the gearbox needs calibrating and bleeding.

Some Wd-40 oil spray on these connectors worked this time for me. Car is 14 years old so hopefully just a some corrosion and a bad connection in the cable connectors.
Its actually the motor brushes inside.. they get low and stop making contact.. hence when you give it a light tap it works again.. easy fix replace brushes and relearn the parameters..

Easy fix for this problem of 'F' being displayed on semi auto corsa. Disconnect the battery and connect back after 5 or more minutes to reset the ECU. Works 99% all the time.

There is a helpful page just called 'Easytronic' on the web, with an '0208' number, (don't know where you're based) has a lot of codes and diagnostic code listings for the easytronic box. May help if you 'can' get the code. I'm trying a chap tomorrow (Monday 26th Oct). Though his mate looked a bit 'blank' when I mentioned Corsa Easytronic! Although when they do it they have a £4,000 diagnostic machine - no idea if it'll pick up Vauxhall codes, we'll see - thanks.
+joseph gegledzi Did that for about three months, sometimes it would even been fine after sitting overnight. But after that it just stopped working. Replaced the computer, matched with same code. And no more problems. Cost about 1300euro for parts, labor.
OMG lifeblood lot of money eh? My part turned out to be the gear selection motor (well, that's if they weren't lying, I wouldn't have been able to tell). I got someone who 'specialisies' in the easytronic gears. Cost me (Pounds sterling) £350 - wasn't happy but better than Vauxhall stitching me up.
Mr. Dawid... Unfortunally, Automatic or Semiautomatic vehicles just means more costs to consumers. In Europe, or In Brazil it means a same thing... Good Luck
bought car on Copart uk ,they did not tell me the problem was gearbox they only said undercarriage but when it came , windscreen cracked,gearbox fault, so now I am having the same F display , sometimes works sometimes won't work, fault code P1728 SHIFT MOTOR MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION ,P1740 GEARBOX ACTUTATOR MALFUNCTION
the mistake opel/vauxhall is making is that they share the hydraulic fluid with the braking fluid. fiat/alfa for example use different fluids for the braking and the hydraulic system. so the best you can do is to change it more often.

+Neil Hudson Either you haven't pressed the brake while shifting the gearbox to automatic (If in neutral), or your Transmission Control Module and / or gear selector is faulty and needs to be repaired. This happened to me in 2014 and I believe the fault is about to return.

Easytronic w Oplu to totalna porażka jeżeli chodzi o skrzynie. Jest Corsa C z klasycznym automatem ale niestety bardzo ciężko znaleźć ją do kupienia.
mam takie coś na oku z przebiegiem niecałym 80tyś. Mowisz, że padaka? Autko dla kobiety, nie zależy nam na performance itp kwestiach.
Tylko że klasyczny automat pali znacznie więcej.
