It's sad that Hollywood had to rewrite history like that. Annie won that match. Frank (called Toby here) missed on the 25th shot. She was perfect. He fell in love with her on the spot, courted her, and was married to her a year later.
Why won't the promot love and fair right to a woman accomplishment, perfection ending with love. Thanks for sharing this truth .First I've heard of her . Shame on the historians, legacy for Annie 🌺🌹🌸💮🥀💐🌷🌼🌱🌻🌺🥀🏵️🌱🌷🌴🌼💮🌸🌹
It's well known that Oakley won this match, no misses. In Hollywood, based on a true story means very little, it's been this way since the beginning, don't look to movies for your historical information.
Frank E. Butler missed the 25th shot and soon after married Annie. He later became her manager fulltime and he quit exhibition shooting. She spent 19 years traveling The U.S. and the world with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.
That was absolute bullshit! Annie Oakley won that match: she shit twenty five clay pidgions, whereas the guy (who's real name was Buttler) hit thenty four and missed on his next one. In her entire 62 years of life, Annie Oakley (she married Buttler; Oakley was her stage-name) NEVER LOST A MATCH!
There are women like that. You aren't paying attention. My shooting coaches are Julie Golob, Gabby Franco and Jessie Harrison. There have always been women in the shooting sports and the industry.
@@baghdadcamper In the shooting world, and I would guess in any other competition, throwing a match is cheating just as much as if you cheated to win. It's a lie. But not the truth, the actual match, that she won was against her future husband Frank Butler, an established sharpshooter from Ireland. They were married until their deaths in 1926 and were buried next to each other.
the story goes that she barged into her ex husbands ( Robert Taylor ) bed room as he lay dying of cancer and demanded one last alimony payment before he died. : (

I heard it both ways.. I also heard that Annie missed on Purpose to save his ego
It was 1935. Could have a story of a woman beating a man the Movie studios wouldn’t wear that They wanted to make a profit

@Chris she's famous. Have you heard of Buffalo Bill?

Shame that they deliberately rewrote history, Annie shot a perfect round, and he missed the last shot.
They could have written that a little bet better.
Barbara Stanwyck was an amazing talent, all the way to Big Valley.
I hate that they had to change what really happened. Annie Oakley never missed a shot.

IRL Phoebe Ann never missed that last mark, he did.
True why did they change the real story?
And then he became the first simp in human history. And married her.
4:04 when I heard this song, I knew it was one I played in band last year. It’s called The Diplomat by Sousa.

We need women like that.

shooterqqqq i wasent referring to her shooting guns as much. I meant how she intentionaly missed her shot out of honor

outside the senate
Annie Oakley is so amazing
Watched a old video where she shoots stuff in air. Its really interesting to watch. Sharpshooter is what she was known for.
That guys a real schmuck..
Stanwick took over the barkley ranch in the big valley.
director George stevens first western I believe, wouldnt do another western until SHANE 1953.
They rewrote Annie's entire history in this movie. Its not a true historical accurate account of the history of Annie Oakley at all.
That was very noble of her.
But not the truth, the actual match, that she won was against her future husband Frank Butler, an established sharpshooter from Ireland. They were married until their deaths in 1926 and were buried next to each other.
why did they change Frank Butler's name?
Don't just like, answer the question
She beat Frank
Itza moooo-vieee.
🙄🙄🙄
Kevin Hollywood often changes names so they don't have to pay royalties to estates, family members, etc.
@@Chief2Moon Annie Oakley and Frank were married.
Movie fantasy. If you really want to know Annie Oakley see her "true" 5 part story on "the American Experience" .
LOOKS LIKE YOU MET YOUR MATCH !!! LOL
This film, made only 9 years after her death is as accurate as any Mel Gibson's so called historical films.
Is that Barbra Streisand playing Annie Oakley?
no, it's Barbara Stanwyck. ... a very tough woman apparently.
@@colinglen4505 Miss Stanwyck could play any role.

Streisand wasn't even born yet.
colin glen There's also a story that Robert Taylor said she was bi-sexual and "tried to control the fuck", which is why they divorced.
Ok. But why does he have such an attitude toward a girl who is only looking at the guns. He has no reason to dislike her. Maybe he just hates kids.
He should have told her the truth 😔 they both knew she gave him that shot 😑

Great movie
Barbara Stanwyck, me.
I see a Pay for view of this movie on the page here 1.5 hours I also see the real Annie Oakley chapter 1 PBS
Look at all the people behind the bottles.
That's uprange. Not downrange.

Barbara Stanwyck :-)
She missed on purpose. But as I remember she won in real life
Annie Oakley would never have thrown a match, making this story FALSE. Also, Annie was 15 years old when she and Frank Butler had this match.
1935年と言えば、エルヴィスが生まれた年だ!
thats the way it was> thats why
wow
She could shoot better then me? That's some toxic masculinity!

Great film BUT are those bystanders on the other side of the field ?? obviously with a death wish. Aren't they likely to get shot ?

That's me. Wanna try me. My man can shoot better he taught me. Annie
She didn't not lose the let him win. Meaning she know she could beat him
George Jacques In real life she won the match and his real name was Frank Butler who she was later married to for 50 years.

ya when a wolf of two hundred pounds came she beat it up to with her bare little hands
See not all old films are sexist
idiot
I mean historically, Annie was the one to win the match, and her opponent missed on the 25tg shot, not her.
Boo! I hate to see anybody throw a contest.
This is not historically correct. Very sad.
BS, in reality she outshot him, Hollywood sucks
He's shooting a rifle, she's shooting a shotgun and he still won!
that looked like a muzzleloader to me , not a shotgun
And she’s a girl that’s surprising
hog man, me too
If you watch the whole thing, you’d understand that she let him win
He wasn't going to miss unless he let that crowd get in his head.
I hate this
