When this movie first came out, it was so powerful that it literally shook people. There was a phenomena that was recorded as people felt depressed for days...weeks after having seen the movie. So you are absolutely not alone in your feels. And it's quite interesting that we're starting to learn that trees on our own planet do indeed, at least at current understanding, have some semblance of communication/networking that we're still not entirely sure how it works. But the study is ongoing.

Yes THIS is the first movie. James Cameron (the director) IS releasing a sequel within the next Year; there's a trailer if you're interested. "Cryo" is short for Cryogenic. It's a term used for "freezing" things. In THIS case it stands for "Cryogenic Sleep" For example, think of the game Fallout 4. The sleeping pods that your character awakens from - I hope you know what Fallout 4 is or this is gonna be funny. Cryo sleep is used in movies where space travel is so long that the crew needs to be put to sleep in order to actually be alive when they get to their new destination. Also is saves on resources like food and oxygen.
Hi Toby Dog! 5:06 "What was he doing for 5 years in space?" Sleeping for lack of better term. There's the idea of cryogenically freezing people to keep their bodies in suspended animation to make long space trips seem faster, and a whole long list of reasons. Sci-Fi loves to use that concept, and has been for decades all the way back to Alien. Funny enough, Sigourney Weaver was in both Alien and Avatar (Hi Ripley!).
It is STILL, by far, the greatest 3D experience I have witnessed on big screen. And it's still one of the most beautiful movies I've seen on my own TV....

I wouldn't t call it a great movie. It had great effects/CGI for it's time, and was part of the 3D thing that died off. The story was not memorable at all. AVATAR is another masterpiece from James Cameron, who brought us THE TERMINATOR series, ALIENS, TITANIC, and my favorite that you would love THE ABYSS. It was ground breaking in their ability to cgi moving water back in 1989. It has a great cast, character, and a moving story. Just make sure you get 'the directors cut'. It's a much better movie, the way Cameron intended. Plus, the behind the scenes will show you the incredible lengths her will go to to make a great movie. MOTION CAPTURE is when an actor wears a suit with 'target balls' all over it and actually performs the parts in the movie. A computer tracts the balls and replicates the movements on a CGI character. A master of this performance is actor Andy Serkis, who played Caesar from PLANET OF THE APES , KING KONG, and Gollum fro THE LORD OF THE RINGS. You were curious about SPACE SHIPS. Since there is no air density in space to produce friction, a real space craft does NOT turn like an airplane with wings, like in STAR WARS. Thrusters are the only ways to maneuver and long range probes will use a planets gravity to turn. Navigation over those distances and predicting where moving bodies will be at the time you arrive there, is left up to the smartest people on the planet. Realistic space movies that follow the laws of physics include GRAVITY, THE MARTIAN, PASSENGERS, APOLLO 13, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and 2010:The Year We Make Contact. A great movie to learn about the beginnings of the American space program is THE RIGHT STUFF. Talk about a great cast.
it's a beautiful world. as a sci-fi and natural history fan, i loved it. the 3D was really well done because it wasn't over-the-top, gimmicky 3D, like stuff flying into your face. it was more to enhance perspective, and combined with the big screen, it really brought you into a different world for 2 hrs.
If you never figured it out, cryo is basically a long slumber. Your body basically gets put to sleep until it’s waken up by pressing a button. Jake and everyone else who was new to Pandora had to be in cryo for 5 years to complete the trip there. Avatar is such an amazing movie for coming out in 2009 and it will forever stand as my #1 movie ❤️
One of my best friends is a shaman of Native American heritage. However, my best companion is my beautiful, talkative and intelligent wolf hybrid, Growler. He and I often howl together and share playtime with his brother, Bully, in his enclosure. He plays rough but he is so sweet and we have a pretty good understanding of each other. Nothing like howl'o'clock here. He approaches cautiously, as his mother (black Timber Wolf) does, but the bonds he forges are phenomenal.
This is my all time favorite movie. I've watched it a hundreds of time and will keep watching it. There are some deleted scenes and some will make you feel closer to the characters and explain a little bit. Wonderful movie. Also my sister and i say the "I see you" in navii everytime we see each other.
What’s weird is this movie didn’t seem like it got the “amount” of credit it we all thought it would. Not saying it’s “underrated” but still not as big as it should’ve been 🤷♂️
@@Koyotee25 Same could be said for the Fast and Furious franchise ripping the original idea from Point Break but just look at how successful the franchise has become. The great thing here apart from all the astonishing tech nd the performances is the narrative that is staged for the global audience with some very powerful messages about how we treat one another and the impact people have on the planet.
Great reactions to Avatar, Blue!!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽You are right, they place dots on the actual actors to get the motion capture, which is used to create the computer generated beings. If a trip to a planet took 5 years they would have to use cryogenics if they could to conserve resources (Food & Water), just like in "Alien" and "Aliens". The sequel is currently set to be released at Christmas time this year.
10:34 The Thanator had two options: 1: try going for the Hammerhead calf that is protected by a herd of adults and risk injury or death. Or 2: go for the easier exposed na'vi that will keep it well fed for hours. Predators will always go for the easier prey when given the opportunity to avoid injuries or death
Heh, all the actors/actresses did one heck of an amazing job. Just think, all that hatred was all an act. It just means the actor drew you into his character so much that hating him was natural.
yeah me too i was like taken over by so strong emotions when i watched Avatar. and i think u are such a good person. thanks for being there and contributing to the beauty of dis world
Thank you for your absolutely brilliant emotional reaction to Avatar - I know the feeling! 😀 I saw this originally in 2009 on the biggest possible IMAX screen in 3D on quite a number of occasions, together with the subsequent extended edition when that was released. Seeing it in IMAX 3D was a fantastic mind-blowing experience that made me a fan of 3D movies, although the massive success of Avatar led to far too many lower quality post converted films, as the software wasn't good enough then. Even though there have been quite a few 3D blu-ray releases I still consider that the Avatar 3D blu-ray to be reference quality. I watched the re-release recently and I didn't think that it would get me emotionally again, but I was wrong. I hope that you get the opportunity to see the re-release on the biggest possible screen where you are. The sequel is being released in December I do hope that you manage to see it at the cinema on a massive screen, because the trailer and "sneak peak" mid credit of the re-release it looks to be absolutely fantastic.
This is like... The Settlers vs the Native Americans if the Native Americans won. Like they are all like, "You DARE come into *my* home, steal *my* land, kill *my* people, and believe that you can get away with it !!!" This is humanity in general. All of those movies like Man of Steel, and Transformers, and movies like that, with humanity being in alliance with some other alien race. THAT is *NOT* how it would go. Because humanity is selfish, in the context of, "Oh, you betray your own kind for humanity, and you are a hero, but you go against mankind to save your own race, then you're a villain." Because humanity would do the SAME Sh!t ! Humanity would not care about any other race that they hurt as long as they can sustain their race, their families, and their dominance. Because humanity does NOT want to coexist, humanity wants to be dominant ! They want everything for themselves. In is like in Avengers when the guy was like, "Humanity is unruly and therefore cannot be ruled." So those who cannot be ruled, WILL become the *Rulers* ! And it is just the concept of, "You cannot show humanity to beings that are not human." Beacuse I'm pretty sure that that is how people would be, if there were other planets with resources and sh!t like this ever happened, (Or WILL Happen) ! Tell me what you think.
The new one is fantastic and filled with as much feels as this one. I remember when I first watched this I cried so much 😭 that I almost thought I'd run out of tears. I loved it so much and it was and still is amazingly beautiful. The new one is a must see as well.
When I saw you posted this I was excited then I realized you were going into watching this having no idea what it was and I was giddy. Glad you enjoyed it. IMO the extended extended edition is better.
There was a phenomenon when it was in theaters, in 3D, where some people suffered depression after watching the movie. They didn't like going back to the real world. You can relate
22:14 Jake really wants to stay there.... and he feels so trapped that his only way in.. is through this military leader. So he's playing this game with him.... but cmon Trixie you know Jake rather be in his avatar body. That's why he's doing this twisted backwards 3d stuff...
I knew you're going to love this and it's even better in 3D if you have a VR headset you can find a half side by side 3D video file online and watch it like nothing before.
Imagine we put all our time and energy into spiritual enlightenment. Seeking knowledge, consideration of other beings, connection to nature and the universe, peace and love. This world would be absolutely breathtaking.
this has to be the most visually stunning movie of all time and the fact that what is happing on pandora is happening to our world is pretty scary. we do the exact same thing to our own world
It's not talked about much but there's a scene in this movie where the business guy stands in a room watching the forest and tree burn, shocked. It's not long but I give this movie respect for actually having him realize the mistakes he just made, and how he can't go back. And in the end he looks up to Jake as he is deported as if to say "I'm so sorry, I fucked up." A lesser movie would keep him as the greedy guy, but this movie shows he is human.
Now imagine watching in on a big screen and in 3D. One of the few movies I've seen where the 3D experience was really worth it. As much I'd like to see you react to part II "The Way of Water" but you owe it to yourself to see it on a big screen when it comes out.
By the way, you said that this movie so so emersive, you can't believe how much better this is in 3D. No cheap gimmicks, it just made you forget that you weren't really there.
Hey Blue, James Cameron often mentions in several interviews that he uses science fiction as a vehcile to tell a much deeper human and cultural story. CAmeron forces us to consider the question, Modern society denounces and decries the atrocites of the past industrial and political leaders from the 15th to the 21st century. We are supposed to be so evolved in the future, CAmeron forces us to consider the question, Would we commit the same acts as our ancestors in the name of progress? The answer is YES.
I saw it on imax 3D , its was quite an experience, thinking about since, characters aliens/humans still so smushy and elastic.... The plot is pretty silly but enjoyable. A good simple film (and technologically pushing the boundaries )

I have very few films that for me have a cult. But Avatar is one of the most beautiful successes. Hate to see more... in December with Avatar 2. and the 3 - 4 will follow quickly.
@Trixy Blue since you loved this movie so much I highly recommend that you get the Directors extended cut. It is so worth it and beautiful, movie and behind the scenes.
The moment that Jake arrives riding the orange/yellow banshee (Toruk) after being surrounded by the ashes of the destruction, is a clear representation of The Phoenix. (In fact, when Neytiri first tells Jake about it, you can tell it's kind of a "mythological creature") 24:08 Me when people say "Avatar" is a bad movie
If i'm not mistaken the sequel comes out December this year oh yeah & a really sad thing about this movie is that the way the Navi are treated is actually how irl tribes were & still are treated by most other humans & it doesn't matter which kind of tribe either whether it's the Native American tribes or the tribes that live in the Amazon Forest or any other kind of tribe
Hi Trixy I found your channel trough this reaction! And what a GREAT REACTION it was! this is the first video from you I'm watching since this is not only an EPIC film but even though it was made in 2009 it already classifies as a classic! It's James Cameron's best work yet! a MASTERPIECE! and yeah I agree with you 100% the film is beautiful and has a strong message! we lost our connection with nature since the day white Europeans invaded indigenous tribes worldwide! thank you for such an honest reaction!
Do not forget to check on the next movie coming up on December Avatar the way of water. There is also a teaser trailer out as well as info about the upcoming movie. Not one sequel but 4 sequels in the making!!!
So annoying when people downplay the emotional impact and genius of this film by trying to say it's "Dances with wolves" or "Fern Gully" etc. Almost ALL films have at least some mirrored tropes or archetypal basis in previous story telling and films. This movies is among the best and there's a good reason its one of the highest grossing films of all time. It blew everything else away when it was released and to this day no film has done 3D as good. Avatar 2 will do the same thing with it's implementation of 3D... revitalizing it once again.

Avatar 2 coming out in December... let's hope it lives up to the expectations.
Knowing how James Cameron is when it comes to exactly what he wants in his movies, Avatar 2 will be amazing as well.
I am sure that it will! I can’t wait to see it in December!
1 of the greatest movies of all time in my opinion
What’s weird is this movie didn’t seem like it got the “amount” of credit it we all thought it would. Not saying it’s “underrated” but still not as big as it should’ve been 🤷♂️
Bold statement, especially since a ripoff of Dances With Wolves
@@Koyotee25 Same could be said for the Fast and Furious franchise ripping the original idea from Point Break but just look at how successful the franchise has become. The great thing here apart from all the astonishing tech nd the performances is the narrative that is staged for the global audience with some very powerful messages about how we treat one another and the impact people have on the planet.
We all ugly cried for this one, can't wait for the sequels!
Watching how we were treating this world, is the biggest reason we will never go far from our own. Nature will make sure we won't.

The Thanator had two options:
1: try going for the Hammerhead calf that is protected by a herd of adults and risk injury or death.
Or 2: go for the easier exposed na'vi that will keep it well fed for hours.
Predators will always go for the easier prey when given the opportunity to avoid injuries or death
21:09 woah you make me relive all of this.... I can't stop crying either lol. Thank you
Heh, all the actors/actresses did one heck of an amazing job.
Just think, all that hatred was all an act. It just means the actor drew you into his character so much that hating him was natural.
In any world hate destroys love, yet love unites then conquers hate.
I was amazed by this movie too, but watching it with you and seeing your reaction, I am tearing up.
Thank you for being!
One of my favorite movies all time. Can't wait for the sequel this year
yeah me too i was like taken over by so strong emotions when i watched Avatar. and i think u are such a good person. thanks for being there and contributing to the beauty of dis world
Thank you for your absolutely brilliant emotional reaction to Avatar - I know the feeling!
Like they are all like, "You DARE come into *my* home, steal *my* land, kill *my* people, and believe that you can get away with it !!!"
This is humanity in general.
@@overfiend1978 True that.
I’m going to see this in 3D next weekend to get a recap. Who else?
Saw 3 times, 3 days in a row back in 2009 in the cinema, Still amazing to me today!!
Amazing reaction Blue 💙, keep up the outstanding work, your doing great! 🙂
34:40 I love her warrior face and action willing to come rescue her man.... that shit means so much to me somehow.. as a man you know.
There was a phenomenon when it was in theaters, in 3D, where some people suffered depression after watching the movie. They didn't like going back to the real world. You can relate
Oh I love your giddiness over the nature stuff. It's adorable.
This is one of my favorite Marine corps movies. Can drop a Marine into just about any situation and watch the magic happen
This movie is very similar to Dances With Wolves. This shows how horrible "civilized" people can be to others that they do not understand.
I got to see this movie in theater for the first time this year. If you ever get the chance to see this film in theater. Do it.
To me, this is one of the few movies where the 3D version added so much to the experience.
As Jake would say "Outstanding!"
Imagine we put all our time and energy into spiritual enlightenment. Seeking knowledge, consideration of other beings, connection to nature and the universe, peace and love. This world would be absolutely breathtaking.
Watch Sam Worthington again in Hacksaw Ridge after this. It's Incredible True Story.
this has to be the most visually stunning movie of all time and the fact that what is happing on pandora is happening to our world is pretty scary. we do the exact same thing to our own world
It's not talked about much but there's a scene in this movie where the business guy stands in a room watching the forest and tree burn, shocked.
I remember when my parents took me to the theater to watch this in 3D which was my first one I watched that was in 3D
Saw the remastered re-release in IMAX 3D. My best cinematic experience since Dunkirk in 70mm IMAX.
Loved the reaction! Get ready for the new ones!
The first time you said "That's so cool!" I Thought to myself that there were a hundred more of those to come :)
18:58 So quick and observant of you for catching that Neytiri did the same by trying to kill him
I saw it on imax 3D , its was quite an experience, thinking about since, characters aliens/humans still so smushy and elastic.... The plot is pretty silly but enjoyable. A good simple film (and technologically pushing the boundaries )
This is a simple story told well. It was overhyped, then overhated to the point it somehow became underrated.
this was an awesome reaction! :D felt like watching it with a friend who felt the same as i did when i saw it for the first time (although that was the first video ive watched from you) :) oel ngati kameie! 💙
(In fact, when Neytiri first tells Jake about it, you can tell it's kind of a "mythological creature")
24:08 Me when people say "Avatar" is a bad movie
Avatar lying to people too much. It trying pretend to happy end but after all Jake done Na'vi just doomed in 12 years when humans return with nukes.
Avatar 2 in December 16 2022
@Text me on Telegram Hi. I love your videos and reactions. Keep it up. Love you 😘
He's definitely born for the camera! 🐾
Incredible reaction, thank you
in the netherlands they put this movie back in the cinema rn to prepare us for the new one coming out in december
38:50 sometimes you have to go cry that stuff all the way out in private... so your heart doesn't explode! 😆
Best 3D experience in my life. I watched it in the IMAX 3D. Can't wait for the next one.
Amazing story line. Reminds me of the history of the Hudsons Bay Company mixed with the history of John Smith and Pocahontas.
I had the same reaction the first time I watched that movie, it was in 3D too, blew my mind!
Mi película favorita, es más en diciembre de este año se estrena la secuela de esta gran pelicula
My favorite movie of all time.
Loved your reaction.
Thank you, Miss Trixy Blue.
Cameron: I want to re-make "Dances with Wolves"
Executives: No
Cameron: ....In space though...
Executives: sighs...when can we have it?
Hi Trixy I found your channel trough this reaction! And what a GREAT REACTION it was! this is the first video from you I'm watching since this is not only an EPIC film but even though it was made in 2009 it already classifies as a classic! It's James Cameron's best work yet! a MASTERPIECE! and yeah I agree with you 100% the film is beautiful and has a strong message! we lost our connection with nature since the day white Europeans invaded indigenous tribes worldwide! thank you for such an honest reaction!
"Magical" - You got it :) Shame we don't seem to be willing to make our planet like this one
This is the real Avatar! Not that air bending shit!
Blue watching a movie starring blue people? Who'd have guessed it?
I got this on 3D blu ray. Can be watched using PlayStation 4 virtual reality headset.
(34:43) Colonel Quaritch isn't dead he comes back in the next movie revived into a avatar
Love the hair lateley, especially the last few videos. Looks really cool
That movie is basically Dance with Wolves in space with CGI!
So what? It's still an awesome film. Everyone copies everyone else nowadays
3:37 -- This is why the Collector's Edition is the one to watch. The plot makes a bit more sense.
