- Wow, what a trip! It was one heck of a drive, but it was totally worth it. I got to meet up with some great people, checked out some cool gear and came home with quite a pile of goodies. Not shown? The 39 inch KU band Satellite dish and the pile of Skyline chili cans.
Will I be there in 2025? If I'm breathing, YES!

Nice haul brother.
You , my friend, are a very rich man having a wife that supports your passion.
Thanks, I could not have asked for a better wife to put up with my antics.
Some of those radios are worth keeping around if they work. Good for SHTF moments.
Sometimes I will take the good ones and give them to those who want but don't have a radio. It is better to have it and not need it.
Nice finds there Erik glad u made it back ok. That trc 441 is boss hoggs base on dukes of hazzard. I would have purchased a lot to and I've given quite a few radios to those who want in the hobby thanks for the video take care and tell jenn hi for us and hope she feels better soon
Yeah, Boss also used a President Washington in one season. Uncle Jesse had a Realistic Navajo at home in at least one episode.
I thought that that base looked familiar. Thanks for asking about my wife, she is feeling better.
Nice buys !
Glad you had a great time at Hamvention! That is on my bucket list. Thanks for bringing us along!
Sounds like you need to do a road trip next year. This part of Ohio is really nice.
This was excellent. I was a CBer back in the 70's and remember many of those older CB manufacturers. I had a President Washington, a great radio you'll enjoy. I think the Washington, depending on the year of manufacture was made in two different countries one of which was the Phillipines. Thanks and enjoy your radios.
I think you are right about the Washington. Thank you for your support.
That DX-440 is a nice catch! I have one at home I use.
I was excited to find that one.
I got started with short-wave listening in 1988 with a DX-440. I later had a Sangean ATS-803A, which is the same radio under its original manufacturer. They are great radios. I still use an 803A occasionally because it picks up SSB. The tuning knob is great and fast. It's not always as sensitive as modern short wave radios but it's still good.
Sir it was great meeting you at ham fest I was one of the guys from KY in your video. Appreciate your knowledge shared here and your humility shared in person.
Thanks, you too! I love when I get to meet fans of the channel. I twas fun getting around and talking to people there, I met some great ones.
Brilliant haul, Eric, thanks for sharing. I can only imagine how much fun you will have geeking out on all that gear. 👍
This should keep me busy for the summer.
Great meeting you on Thursday up there! Great talking to you and I hope to cross paths again in the future!
- Scott from East TN
It was a great time for sure!!
You deserved getting the press pass. I watch you all the time, and you gave us good coverage in the last year. I believe that amateur radio/electronics UA-cam channels provide the most honest, down-to-earth coverage of any medium. Great to see you. Same times, same place next year!
Thank you for the kind words. I have plans to go next year,I think I will try for 3 days. Let's hope for better weather!
You're a cool cat. I just bought a Radio Shack DX-440 for $40. It's in real nice shape. Nice shortwave! Thanks fot being a real down to earth dude. I'm a simple man like you. I'm a homesteader in Marietta GA. My best friend lives in Grover NC
Thank you for the kind words, I have to give you credit for being able to stand the hot hot hot weather there in GA.
My first radio was a fanfare. It was a good radio. Good video.!🇨🇿👍
Thanks!
Holy shiz Eric. Looks like a pile of fun. 👍🏻
I agree, this will keep me busy all summer long.
I had a TRC441 in the 90s got it from a flea market for $25 hours of fun!
That was a great deal.
Something about the Royce models, they just look like better quality back in the day.
I agree that they do have a nice look to them.
Between guitar shows and ham shows, I could really go broke! 😁The other day I was wondering how I could convert my VHS tapes over to digital. You showed the solution to me. Thank you, I always learn something I can use when I watch one of your videos. 👍👍👍
Glad I could help! I have plenty of hobbies that will drain my wallet dry.
@@FarpointFarms 👍👍👍
Thanks for making the effort. I hope you make some profit
I hope so too! Radios can be an expensive hobby
Those older 878 PLL chassis President Washingtons are audio monsters, especially on AM.
Score!
I've owned a Washington before and loved it. Fingers crossed that this one still works!
I had a washington years ago and loved it! I just hope this one works!!
looks like we have a lot of good content headed our way, I had a president Dwight D when I was a kid so I’m looking forward to the video on that president and the packet radio box even if you don’t get it working
I plan on making videos of the radios that I picked up. I should be able to do that over summer.
Hey! The realistic 440. I've got the sangean version here in the UK Eric, my late father bought it in the states back in the 1990s.
Great radios.
They are the same right? It was the last "DX" branded radio from Radio Shack.
Oh wow you have the Realistic DX440 receiver. I grew up on that radio!
Yup! I haven't played with it much, but it's here!
I still play with packet radio. It's a neat mode.
Having hobbies is what makes life more enjoyable.
That's so cool 😎
It was quite a trip!
Wow. Good haul.
Yes it was, I ended up with more than I thought.
That's really nice radios I'm really psyched all of them shooting star 1985 said that
I hope to have videos made this summer on what I have found
I have two of the TRC-40 Navaho Pro radios. I posted a video of one of them.
I also have the Bearcat scanner. Around western Pennsylvania most everything is still analog and the scanner is still quite usable. The manual is available online. Have fun checking out the rest of your treasures.
That is cool that you can still use your scanner. Some of the smaller towns still use analong, but the larger ones are now digital.
@@FarpointFarms Pittsburgh is still analog along with most of Allegheny County. They primarily run UHF. The surrounding counties are largely on high band. I collect old crystal scanners and have used the FCC's Advanced License Search tool and have been pleasantly surprised about how many users are still on the 30-50 MHz band.
Great things thought you had the realistic scanner wish i still had mine, great vid mate 73 M7ETK
I do! I just thought this one might pick up more with the trunk tracking stuff.
Excellent video, ain't nothing wrong with what you did because someone else would have gotten to it anyhow ! Would love to go but don't have time or money or room for extra stuff at this time ! Thanks Erik !😊😊😊😊
Maybe one day you will have the time and money to go. It is about the adventure of going
Nice stack of radios! I recently picked up a President Washington , haven't had the chance to fire it up yet , it's on my round to it list. Maybe next year you'll have the "busaru" finished and you can haul more stuff back home! lol
That is one of my projects for this summer, the last time I went near it, it took my wallet and everything in it. It was demanding more, but my wallet was empty.
Very nice haul, I like the old Washington and that White Tornado 225 is pretty cool. I have one like it but it's a Palomar 225
Right on
You found some cool stuff! Looking forward to the video for the TRC 441. I have a vcr in my closet that still works and remote too. I’ll give it to you at the Hamfest next year.
Sounds like a great plan. I am sure I can trade something
No trade needed! It hasn’t been used in a very long time.
Excellent video Erick :) also myself never be Dayton Ham fest ever and lots Ontario Canada to I hear ! But only be to few over years!
This one is certainly worth the drive!
Did you just go back in time and rob a radio shack lol nice haul i,ll wait for the reviews 73s.
I know it does look like I stole half the store.
I hear you Eric and appreciate your hard work to provide great content. I love that you get different items cheap, use them on the channel so everyone can learn and enjoy them and then pass them along to make a little revenue for the channel. I’ve spent the night in the back of my car or truck to attend all kinds of events my whole life. That’s part of the adventure. Love the content.
Thank you for the kind words. I agree about being part of the adventure, some of the best trips are the ones that we planned the least on. Life is short, enjoy the adventures
You can never have to many cb radios I have 4 of the 3 handhelds and 1 mobile im trying to make into a base station Im actually on a road trip parked at a truck stop talking to the truckers on my midland 75-822 cant wait to see the vw bus of yours with the radios hooked up in it
I am hoping to have some major work on the bus this summer. Life keeps getting in the way of the fin projects.
Nice haul!
Thanks!
Nice Radio Shack Radio
Thanks! I was excited when I saw it.
I have the same Uniden scanner . You’ll really like it . I may still be able to find the original manual . I’ll look around and let you know 👍
Thanks! I haven't played with it yet, but it sure looked like a nice one.
@@FarpointFarms
I got a steal on mine . I bought it about 2014 brand new in the box at a pawn shop for 100 bucks and they listed for almost 300 . It may have been a bit 🔥 lol
If you ever run across a Realistic Navaho TRC-30A, let me know!! That was the first base station I ever had!!
I will do that- If you live near Shelby, NC... their hamfest in the fall usually has some good finds.
Nice haul! You're gonna love that DX 440👍. BTW, that Bogen mic is a Astatic that was rebranded. Is it amplified?
I have not had a chance to really dig deep into what I brought home. I will try to make videos on the radios over the next few months.
I haven't heard the name Royce CB's for years and I bet your gas mileage was a little worse on the way back. What a haul !
My mileage was not as good as the drive up. It was not the radios but the cans of Skyline Chili that I bought
@@FarpointFarms I can understand that about the skyline. I live 30 miles to the east of the farthest skyline from Cincinnati. I will sometimes go to Krogers and buy a couple of packets of the dry Cincinnati chili mix and make a gallon, divide it up and freeze it and have 5 ways and cheese coneys any time.
That base scanner is an older scanner it does not cover the 800 mhz it does not have the digital trunking
I really want to find a digital one that will not cost me an arm and a leg.
I just got an 895XLT.
I don't know the condition of your's, however if a button for example doesn't work, just press it a few times once and a while and it might start working.
The radio has military air band and 1.25m amateur radio, where a lot others do not.
So if you're interested in that, it's something to consider.
Thanks for the tip, lots of time the buttons get gunked up from sitting.
@@FarpointFarmsAnd nicotine!
Erik if you sell that President Washington, please let me know, I used to have one when I was younger, my first base station as well, regret ever getting rid of that radio!
I will keep you in mind. I can only play with so many things.
How do you not have a President Jerry to review yet?
I messaged President Electronics today concerning the McKinley II FCC. I was told that the batch that was already released is not planned on being duplicated. It sounds like they want to make the George FCC model their main sideband radio
The McKinley AM/SSB will continue on, but for the "Everything Radio" the George is the goto.
I'm the same way I just used the right the money that I have on for my radio
Yup!
Looks like you had a great time. If you want to sell one of cb's let me know as I am looking for something simple to use when I travel which isn't often.
I will sell some at a later point.
Did you tip your golf cart driver hauling all of this stuff out to your car from the flea market? 🤣🤣🤣
This is the first year in a long time I didn't buy anything in the flea market. But from vendors was another story.
Damn, I spent more on a hotel than you did for your entire trip. And certainly more on fuel.
I wish I had a cart driver- it was a long walk from where I parked to where I bought all this stuff.
So wat can I get to buy from you, watching from Jamaica west Indies !!.
I do sell some of these on my ebay store. It might be a while before they get there.
🏆🏆🏆🏆📻
Thanks!
Yeah I live in the state of Virginia
I'm in Roanoke Virginia
I'm interested with one of those radios the bass station one I'll let you know when I have the money 💰
You picked up a through the glass CB antenna. What do you think of them. I want to put a CB in my truck and that would be a discrete antenna option.
I have not had a chance to play with that one yet. It has been years since I last used one and I can't remember how well it did
@@FarpointFarms I'd love to see a review if you have a chance. I had a 48 in firestick on my first couple of trucks (pick-ups) but I don't want anything so big. I do forestry and spend time in the woods so a large antenna my be problematic.
I have also read that it tuning the antenna for proper SWR can be difficult.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Yo eric what realistic model is it? I got one currently but is being worked on.
I will have to look again, I can't remember right now.
@@FarpointFarms Mines the htx100. But I'm starting to be like you. Radio hoarder. I got about 9 radios and my recent purchase was the yaesu 991a. Of course i got my president McKinley radio aha.
I'm interested with the president Bass radio I'm getting a new job so I don't have the money right now
Just save up a few dollars at a time, you will be able to afford it in no time.
Let me know which radio works cuz I definitely will get one off your hands when I get to when I get back to work
