This series is bringing back the feelings I got when I first started playing RS. So many things to do with unlimited possibilities. It's honestly making me want to pick up RS again...
i kinda wish mod ash would take interest in this ironmen playstyle and encourage a full on developing of region-locking. Probably ''engine work'' to make it an official gamemode. However individual respawn locations as a dynamic for region-dependant character doesnt sound that hard.
Honestly it shouldnt take much engine work. Just put NPCs on the border of areas (kinda like in RS3), and have it check if you are an area ironman or not. For instance, set each character with a variable, if 0 its a normal character, if 1 its locked to that area. If a character with 0 walks to the NPC, the NPC doesnt do anything and just lets them through. If a character with 1 walks to them, they are barred from passing by the NPC. Simple :/
An important part of region-locked ironmen is the exceptions you have to make, especially at the beginning. I don't see how that could be easily implemented in an official game mode
They could tweak the overall game, like removing the requirement for Druidic Ritual for herblore, and adding some way to get the Dyes in Morytania for Ghosts Ahoy. Itd be a little hassle, but it wouldnt be game breaking. Also maybe a rework of any slayer master in the area and adding a slayer master to each region
