"Fly High" is probably the poppiest of the Nightmare arc. It was not done by their usual production team as well. But it makes sense, since this is a prequel, so bringing in a bit of the Minx sound makes sense to me. There are really heavy parts in it as well, which clearly state that they are not Minx anymore. And I love the dark parts thrown in, they really make the song special. The light part sung by SuA after the metal break is in major, while the rest of the song is in minor. That is why it stands out so much. They did the same in Good Night, but a lot shorter.
About the MV: You can see Yoohyeon burning the spider, which brought the curse of the spider queen down on the members. You will see the spider queen again in You and I. In Native American mythology, spiders are considered protectors, that is why a Dreamcatcher resembles a spider's net. That is a brilliant connection to their name! 😊

In the early days of Dreamcatcher, the five members of Minx had a large role. In particular, Chinese member Handong did not have many parts due to her somewhat awkward Korean pronunciation. However, as time went by, Handong and Gahyun gradually took on more parts.

The line distribution definitely improved once the members were given the ability to vote on who should get what line.

There were a couple of songs that didn't click for me on the first listen either! One of them was "Fly High"! But now I love that song! (also, the lore makes it better for me)🥰
Dreamcatcher really doesn't have any bad songs, just songs for different people and moods, and the Nightmare series is just full of bangers!
This mini album is just so great imo, and it only goes up from here! Just wait till' you get to 'Alone In The City' and 'Dystopia: Road to Utopia', which are my personal favorite DC mini albums!
And then we have the first full length album, and Japanese comebacks, and selfmade MVs... My god, I would do anything to be able to react to that... But I'm getting ahead of myself 😂
Great reaction, really looking forward to the next one! ❤

It was the same for me, Fly high wasn’t my favourite at the begging, but it just needed a few more listens. Now I immediately start vibing to it when I play the song and love it. And I totally agree that they don’t have bad songs, you can enjoy each and every one of them depending on your mood!

"It's ok" is still my favorite ballad song by Dreamcatcher to date. From the lyrics to the melody and the instrumental, everything is just so wonderful.

The next mini album is ESCAPE THE ERA with the track YOU AND I. You should check out Hello82 secret duet with Sua and Hwiseo from H1-Key singing Titanium. It came out yesterday . Fantastic !!

Handong's Korean was not good at this point so she was never given many lines, especially in the title tracks. Her lovely voice appears more in the B side ballads. Gahyun had only been in the company for 6 months when Dreamcatcher debuted, so she was still basically at trainee level and working hard on her voice and dancing skills. I can't imagine the pressure on her having to debut with little training and while she was still in high school.
Fly High is the only title track not composed by Dreamcatcher's usual songwriting/production team (LEEZ and Ollounder), so it does have a different sound. The song's importance lies in the story, since it's the prequel to Chase Me and shows how the girls ended up as the spirits of nightmare we see haunting the ghost hunter. You'll probably appreciate it more when you understand all the imagery in it. It grew on me the more I watched it and understood what was happening. It's extremely rich in the lore of Dreamcatcher and the concept of alternate universes that runs through their title tracks right on up to Justice.

    Loving your DC journey ❤
As for Fly High, it is indeed a bit more cheerful than their usual title tracks. One reason for that is because (as the album title indicates) this is a prequel to the 2 albums before. Story-wise, it's basically Jiu finding and trapping a spider, and then Yoohyeon burning it (yes, DC are witches who sometimes do shady stuff), which leads to them all getting cursed, and being trapped in their nightmares.
Then a ghosthunter comes along, and they use him to free themselves.
The next 2 albums deal with them getting punished again and trying to get out again.
The next album should be Escape the Era. The song Mayday has a special clip with them performing it with their fans (InSomnia). Now, how cool is that? 😎

Their company had zero money when they rebooted Minx and gambled big on Dreamcatcher. That Sleepwalking MV is about as low budget as you will see in post-1st gen Kpop. It's obviously a free location, probably a building under construction. The members probably did their own wardrobe and makeup. The choreo and charisma of the members makes it work.
The Minx members had a lot of experience with that, because the promotion of Minx was low budget. There's live videos on UA-cam of Minx performing at free locations like parks in Seoul. They are killing it, in daylight, with very minimal audio production, with people just strolling by who have no idea who they are. I have some experience with this, and it is sooo difficult to perform in low budget environments. If you can break through that with performance, you are a legitimate star. And Minx/Dreamcatcher were obviously stars in the rough. The gamble paid off.

Never noticed the girls creepily inside the window at 4:46 until another UA-camr pointed it out 👻
FLY HIGH is where The Curse of the Spider starts and where the darkness begins to take over Yoohyeon, don't worry I never understand mvs either until someone in the comments explains 🤭
Loved SLEEPWALKING the first time I heard it, you really don't get techno songs like that in pop and that whipping move they do when they say "come to me now" is my fav move in all of Kpop!

We're the opposite, I adored Fly High when I first heard it. It's a straight up anime OST. Wake up was towards the bottom of my DC ranking for a long time, but to be fair that just means I liked it, not loved it. However, after seeing them perform it on an online concert it shot way up. The live performance is ridiculous.
Sleep walking was another one I instantly loved. It reminds me of sitting in an arcade playing Cruising USA or some racing game, instant nostalgia for me. As others have said, Handong and Gahyun didn't get a lot of lines to start with. This is partly due to them only training for 6 months prior to debut and Handong still learning Korean. It definitely gets better as it goes on.
Trust Me/It's okay is one of my favorite ballads. It's got such a beautiful message and it's one thats important to the members. While Handong doesn't get a lot of lines her use in the bridge is like a surgical strike. Her voice cuts through and carries so much emotion, it's my favorite part of the song.
Sua was my bias, before I quickly became OT7, she's gorgeous and her vocal tone is beautiful. You should check out the duet she just did on Hello82 with H1-Key's Hwiseo. Sua's also been dropping hints that she's recorded a song (or maybe more) that should be dropping in a month or so. Some rumors point to a Sua solo debut but everything is unconfirmed so far.

Yes, the lyric video was correct! 👍
Fly High has definitely grown on me over the years but it wasn't my favorite when it first came out. And Sleep-walking has be one of my long standing favorite bsides of theirs!
Also, since Sua seems to be the bias, you've got to check this out! ua-cam.com/video/waIoo19aKnc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
It's a show called Secret Duet where they get to Idols to do a duet without having met the other. Sua's episode just dropped and she did such a beautiful job! ^_^

I feel like Fly high is lighter than the other tracks and that may be due to the storyline, because the MV happens before they are under the influence of the curse of the spider. Anyways, my favorite track from this album is Sleep-walking, it just sounds satisfying for me.
21:25 We all do. Btw, Hello82 uploaded a video with SuA doing a 'Secret Duet' (they sing a duet without knowing the identity of their partner) with Hwiseo from H1-Key (Great vocalist, and also she was ranked #1 in the survival show Queendom Puzzle). You should check it out when you have time.

Thanks for another DC reaction! 'Fly High' wasn't love at first sight, but it definitely grew on me. The next song DC released was 'Full Moon', it was a song dedicated to their fans to commemorate their 1st anniversary, it has a special clip with choreo. And right after that their 2nd mini album 'Escape the Era'. I think it'd be easier for you to check out Kprofiles or even Spotfy, their discography is better laid out in there

Hello the fellow of THE Queen followers...
I feel you, about the Fly High... There's something odd on the first listened, but I think you would get the mood as you keep listening to the track...
And when I thought about Fly High being the transition from Minx era to Dreamcatcher era, it really made sense more...
We have a lot more cuteness in the beginning of the song, and then suddenly the darkness would wrapped in the last stage...
Wake Up is more fun when they played it with the actual live bands...
They just enjoy the song just like us enjoying it too...
Sleepwalking keeps walking in my dreams with our Queen moves are spotlighted...
And unfortunately, the ballad from this album is my less admire, but it doesn't mean it is a bad song...
The pure strokes of the clean guitar on a full production processed is really get an awkward for me...
For my personal bad taste, it was like a practice session...
I would personally fill the guitar stroke with an acoustic one, instead of an electric...
But hey, it was just a subjective preference, just like you said...
Overall, great reaction, stay safe, keep healthy, and have great days

I didn't like Fly High at first, either. But the song won me over with time. It plays a role in the progression of Dreamcatcher, both the nightmare lore and the musical evolution. The production style is very forced, with a lot of elements arranged by the producer and engineer. It's not an organic production, which is usually my preference. But for a producer-dominated production, it is executed extremely well. There's a few transitions that are rough, in my opinion, but it is a great sounding song. I listen to it all the way through whenever I hear it.
